enterprise level sites
by Theo Mills 12 Jun '01

Does anyone have know of any content heavy, enterprise-level sites that implement Zope? Sites like CNN, or British Airways? The zope-powered list on zope.org appears to be random, and hitting the most of the links brings up sites that seem small in scope. Thanks!

PythonScript calls PythonScript
by Horst Wald 12 Jun '01

12 Jun '01

Hi! I hope this is not a stupid question: can one PythonScript-Object A() call another PythonScript-Object B() without help from 'above'? Like (suppose, wer're in A): ... x=5 y=B() z=6 ... and in the dtml-document: <dtml-var expr="A()"> without having to give A a parameter b and write <dtml-var expr="A(B())"> and in A: ... x=5 y=b z=6 ... By the way: does anybody know a good tutorial besides http://www.python.org/doc/current/tut/tut.html thanks Horst _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Re: [Zope] When should I use CMF?

It seems like overkill to use CMF for their purpose. The majority > of folks that visit the site wouldn't log in ever and all these visitors > would see the exact same site. Opinions? Your application sounds ideal for the CMF: - We just added a calendar event content type, and have a sample calendar running against instances of it on the dogbowl: http://cmf.zope.org/calendar/calendar - The "five or six" content contributors are the only ones who will need to log in, probably; you can even suppress the "Join" link by turning off the "Add portal member" permission assignment to Anonymous. - Skins let you suppress any of the "CMF-ish" bits (the actions box, for instance) you don't want to have visible. - Content has "regular" metadata, well integrated with the catalog, so searching is simpler; alternate organizations of data based on this metadata can be created with Topics. Just my (obviously biased) opinion. I've CC'ed the CMF list so others can weigh in, as well. How to copy a zope site
by Alejandro Fernandez 12 Jun '01

12 Jun '01

Hi I'm working on a project which until now was kept at a server at my university. I'm taking it home, so I can work on it there. Does anyone know what files I should copy in order to maintain the installation? I'm thinking everything in /var/ off my zope installation. Is this correct? Please answer directly, as I'm not on this list. Thanks! Alejandro -- Alejandro Fernandez Bscp 5 Caledonian University 0790 541 8809 - ale(a)nin.cx

I am not sure if I understand your question. But let's assume that you have an image called 'school.jpg' then you can write: <img src="<dtml-var subject>".jpg> Or an other solution could be: - Have a folder with images and iterate over this folder and try to find an image with id 'school'. - If you cannot find, take a default image Best regards Arno On Tue, 12 Jun 2001, you wrote: > Hi all, > > I have a question about The dtml-if. > > I would like to call an image depending on the url I am at. > > Lets say Somsone searches for an article on school I have the folowing URL: > > http://codenamefuture.hurrah.com/nieuws/zoek?SearchableText=&Subject%3Atoken > s=school > > If I wnated to write a dtml-method telling it should load the school image > in stead of the standard image how would I call that image? > > Hope someone can help me on this. > > James > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) -------------------------------------------------------

Python products - Versions in Zope
by Max M 12 Jun '01

How do you guys manage versions in Python products on running sites? Do you have several versions of products running at the same time, or do you build in some kind of upgrade path that upgrades instanciated objects? Just looking for clues. regards Max M Max M. W.
