WebDAV Speed Issues.
by Jason C. Leach 12 Jun '01

hi, What regulates Zope's WebDAV speed? The server, CPU/RAM, or bandwith? I would also be curious if WebDAV is generaly bandwith intensive. I have a Webfolder maped w/ NT 4.0 and find it a bit slow for 1 user. The server is pretty slow, and outgoing I only get 512K DSL speed. If it's generaly slow that fine, but if I can drop in more ram and a faster CPU can I get more speed? Thanks, j. ...................... ..... Jason C. Leach ... University College of the Cariboo. ..

Just don't use the fmt=structured-text but write <dtml-var stx_doc_name> and everything should be dandy regards Max M

Solution for copying a site
by Peter Bengtsson 12 Jun '01

12 Jun '01

My site is a bunch of Zope object such as DTML *, Images, Python Script, etc.etc. The heaviest part of it is the photos collection which is about 100 Mb if you click Export and look at the filesize of the zexp file. If I Export my whole site the zexp file would probably be about 105 Mb or something like that. Now I'd like to Export my site and 1) back up the functionality 2) take the rest home a work on it locally Shipping a 100 Mb file back and forth hom is not an option. One option would be to copy the whole site inside Zope and then have a script that removes all Photos from the copy and then Export the "emptied" copy. I have the script to do that, but I can't copy because the content is probably too big and I get errors from IOError. Does anybody have a good solution? I'd ultimatly like to click SpecialExport and filter some object and then wrap it up with the good old manage_exportObjects() Peter

converting objects
by Matt 12 Jun '01

12 Jun '01

The following is an external method I wrote for converting an object(presumably a file object) into an Image. It works fine, but seems a scary way of doing it, i.e. deleteing the object that the method is currently working on. I was hoping there was a method that lets you reset the object ... eg : self._setObject(new_image_object) instead of making a new one and deleting the old one. def convert_it(self,REQUEST): """convert to image""" new_id = self.id() new_title = self.title temp_data = self.data REQUEST.PARENTS[1].manage_delObjects(self.id()) REQUEST.PARENTS[1].manage_addImage(new_id,temp_data,new_title) return "thanks" regards Matt

dtml-if problem
by Tamas Amon 12 Jun '01

Hello, I have a little problem, but I don't find the solution for it. Here is the code: ----- <form name='ware'> <select name="warez" onChange="document.ware.submit()"> <dtml-if warez> <dtml-in wares> <dtml-if expr="id == warez"> <OPTION VALUE=<dtml-var id> DEFAULT><dtml-var sname> <dtml-else> <OPTION VALUE=<dtml-var id>><dtml-var sname> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> <dtml-else> <dtml-in wares> <OPTION VALUE=<dtml-var id>><dtml-var sname> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> </select> </form> ----- But the <dtml-if expr="id == warez"> is never true. Why it is possible? Thanks for your help. -- Amon Tamas sajt(a)amon.hu

Apache, mod_rewrite, https working together?
by Jim Penny 12 Jun '01

12 Jun '01

One of the strengths of the mod_proxy solution is that it it possible to use apache-ssl to convert https requests to http. But, that comes with the cost that it is quite difficult for the Zope server to know the actual remote IP. It would be nice to be able to use the E=... flag setting of the RewriteRule to set the REMOTE_ADDR to something visible to Zope. Has anyone used mod_rewrite directives to proxy an https request onto an http zope site? Does the E= flag permit forwarding the REMOTE_ADDR? Thanks Jim Penny

using ZPublisher.Client to add IOBtree
by Sin Hang Kin 12 Jun '01

I am trying to use load_site to convert the unihan.txt into a zope object. I want to add many objects, so I think IOBtree is more suitable. How can I add a BtreeFolder (or IOBtreefolder) with ZPublisher.Client, The original load_site is Object.manage_addFolder(id="foldername") Rgs, Kent Sin --------------------------------- kentsin.weblogs.com kentsin.imeme.net
