You can pass each item in the Querystring like (untested): <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('redirectURL', 'Destination?')"> <dtml-in myListe> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('redirectURL', redirectURL + "myList=" + _['sequence-item'] + '&')"> </dtml-in> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(redirectURL)"> Hope this help! Is there anyway to do it? I receive a list from a DTML document and I need to pass it again to a method. I have verified that the intermediate document receives a list but when the last method retrieves it the type is string. I can cast it to be a list by : <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('Destination?myList:list'+`myList`)"> but <dtml-var mylist> renders ["[x]"] where I have a list containing a string. Any ideas? How to obtain an instance of a subobject ?
by kal lee 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

Hi, I m totally new to Zope, and would be grateful for some answers. I have created a new product with the following structure : ProductX ZClass Y ZClass Z I have successfully added an instance of the ProductX, so I have ProductX at Tests. Now I wanted to add an object of Y in my Tests, how do I do it ? I thought that I should be able to add it by using the "add" button, but I don't see Y or Z in the list of stuff that i can add ?! I saw something in the mails about a tab for adding subobjects to the list, but i couldn't locate it. Thanks in advance for help. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? by Uwe Fechner 18 Apr '01

Hello, did anybody succeed to run gvIB v. 0.96 an win2k yet? In runs well for me on win98, but I didn't get it going with win2k. >From the python command line everything works well, but if I try to connect to the database from zope I get the message "Invalid connection string". I tried to debug the python code, and the system creates this exception when calling the gvibBase.dll. I did try: - Zope 2.30 - Zope 2.31 - Interbase 6.01 on Win2k with servicepack. Thanks in advance. Best regards: Uwe Fechner ufechner(a)4commerce.de

laction-bar with absolute url's
by Tapio Hüffner 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

hello ng, I want to implement a location bar on my webpage like zope has implemented (not at the webpage but at application). It should look like: root / folder / subfolder / ... and you should be able to navigate with this location-bar, so that "folder" is a link to root/folder and "subfolder" is a link to root/folder/subfolder. And then "folder should not be a link to root/folder/subfolder/folder just because of acqusition. The sructure of my webpage is a folder system, so that naerly every site is a folder. My resolution for this problem is: <dtml-in getPhysicalPath> <a href="&dtml-sequence-item"> <dtml-var sequence-item></a> / </dtml-in> This works good, but I have of course a problem with the acquisition. The links are only relative and it could look like root/folder/subfolder/folder/folder/folder/... in the location-bar of my browser when you click on folder a few times. The "folder"-page is shown correctly because of the acquisition, but I don't want this strange path-behaviour in my browser. For that I want to create absolute links to "folder" or "subfolder". The links should be absolute links to the folders URL, separeted by /. Can somenone explain to me how I could implement this? Thank you very much, Tapio

by Tom Deprez 18 Apr '01

Hi, Tell me I've got a blackout, but I thought I could provide the following : <dtml-sqlvar EQUIPMENT type=string optional> and when I don't fill a value in, it will use null as value... Or isn't this possible with string values? Why? Tom.

Why can't I add lots of objects at once?
by Kyler B. Laird 18 Apr '01

18 Apr '01

A month or two ago I asked here for advice on putting roster data (~233K entries/semester) in our database. One of the suggestions was to use XML-RPC in order to avoid the timeouts I was getting. I've been working on an XML-RPC solution and it is quite adequate for small data sets, but if I try to add a few hundred student/class entires, it hangs. After a few iterations, I've come up with this script on the Zope side. Essentially, it creates a structure like AAE 203 01 01 students kyler.b.laird.1 sally.r.smith.5 =================================================== if (not csubject in courses.objectIds()): courses.manage_addFolder(csubject, csubject) if (not cnumber in courses[csubject].objectIds()): courses[csubject].manage_addFolder(cnumber, cnumber) if (not division in courses[csubject][cnumber].objectIds()): courses[csubject][cnumber].manage_addFolder(division, division) if (not section in courses[csubject][cnumber][division].objectIds()): courses[csubject][cnumber][division].manage_addFolder(section, section) if (not 'students' in courses[csubject][cnumber][division][section].objectIds()): courses[csubject][cnumber][division][section].manage_addFolder('students', 'students') current_students = courses[csubject][cnumber][division][section]['students'].objectIds() for student in students: if (not student in current_students): courses[csubject][cnumber][division][section]['students'].manage_addFolder(student, student) =================================================== Terribly naive programming aside, what's wrong with calling this a couple hundred times? It seems to just keep taking more and more of the processor time. Eventually I give up, kill the server and restart it. Then I can run the script again and it will get a little bit further (because it doesn't have to create the existing objects, I assume). Of course, I'd prefer not to have to break this up into one thousand chunks with server restarts in between each one. Any suggestions? Thank you. --kyler
