help: can't access site w/o going through manage interface

All, I am upgrading to 2.3.1. I have built zope 2.3.1 and can access my site through the manage interface using view. But if I try to login into the site not using the manage interface (i.e. through the url) I get a zope error which basically is the result of the REQUEST['PATH_INFO'] being empty. I have a method that analyses the PATH_INFO and does different things depending on what it is set to. This method (that does the analysis) works great on the older zope and through the manage/view interface Any thoughts????? Dan

Well this is not really a Zope question but since I just ported an sqlserver7 app to mySQL, I have the answer. 1) Name the auto_increment column in the column list 2) supply 0 or null as the value 3) To get the last_insert_id, the sytax is a little different, see below. This happens on 2.3.1 and 2.3.0 as far as I can tell. Definitely happens on 2.3.1 though. I have created a ZSQL method with an INSERT statement and a SELECT statement containing a LAST_INSERT_ID function in it. These statements are separated by a <dtml-var sql_delimiter> tag. This is a typical scenario in which I want to grab the UNIQUE ID field value of the last record that was inserted so I can use that value to insert a linked record in another table. The ZSQL method returns nothing! If I understand this correctly each ZSQL is a unique MySQL instance so these statements need to be in the same ZSQL method in order to capture the correct LAST_INSERT_ID value, right? Here's my ZSQL Method ======================================== INSERT INTO FileTypes (FileType, Extension) VALUES ("AutoCAD","DWG") <dtml-var sql_delimiter> SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID() AS LastID ======================================== This inserts a new record in the table and returns nothing. I also double checked and yes there is an AUTO_INCREMENT field in the FileTypes table. Your dtml method is not able to acquire the sql method. To help with this, we need to see the folder object structure. The problem isn't inside the external method. Where's the help for LocalFS?

I have LocalFS running in Zope 2.2.2 on Linux and Zope 2.2.4 on NT and there is no Help Tab (per LocalFS documentation) when I edit a LocalFS object. There is a methodHelp.dtml in the .../Products/LocalFS directory. Any ideas why I cannot access LocalFS help from the Zope management interface? Is something broken? P. Johnson

Hi Luiz, I cc'ed the zope mail list on this question... That message appears when a browser breaks the current connection before the response is returned, and it's normal under most circumstances. It may or may not have anything to do with your Zope stability problem. A good thing to do would be to turn on detailed logging via the "-M" switch to z2.py. After you gather information in the log, use the script at http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/HowTos/DEBUG-LOG to figure out what requests aren't returning.
