unable to access

Hello. I am writing to you in hopes of receiving another avenue to try or a solution to my problem. I have been having a very consistent problem getting zope to work on my WinBook Si with Windows 98 and IE 5.5. When I try to access zope on my machine by typing the URLs http://127.0.0.1:8080 or http://sharlynn:8080/manage (which accurately reflects my local host name and port name), I get to the Zope Quick Start Page. Then, when i try to use the zope management interface, the username and password box comes up. But, when I enter the username and passwords that I entered when i downloaded and installed zope: it gives me three chances but never lets me in. Instead: it gives me the following message. ******************************* Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML source for this page. If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. Thank you for your patience. ************************************** In trying to remedy this problem, I have completely removed zope from my computer and reloaded it 4 times. I have made my user name and password extremely simple (username: aaa password: aaa) to eliminate the possiblity that i am typing it in incorrectly. I have also downloaded the newest version of IE (5.5) to ensure that that wasn't the problem. I do not know what else to try. Perhaps there is some setting on my hard drive...some error in your system... I don't know. If you have any insight, suggestions or ideas I would greatly appreciate them. I am supposed to be learning zope as part of my employment...but I cannot get in the front door! You can call me at (970) 209-9592 and I can work online as we talk, or you can e-mail me at waterstrider(a)frontier.net. Thanks so much. Sharlynn Cobaugh Mindview, Inc. PS... Don't know if this will help, but i want to give you all the information possible... I can access a zope account from the log in at the general zope website with the username: sharlynn and password: bandera. This has not helped me much however, because i am looking for elvis!!!!

The official timezone name of central Europe is "CET" or "CEST" (daylight saving), replacing the older "MET" and "MEST". Dieter

help: can't access site w/o going through manage interface
by Daniel Rusch 10 Apr '01

10 Apr '01

All, I am upgrading to 2.3.1. I have built zope 2.3.1 and can access my site through the manage interface using view. But if I try to login into the site not using the manage interface (i.e. through the url) I get a zope error which basically is the result of the REQUEST['PATH_INFO'] being empty. I have a method that analyses the PATH_INFO and does different things depending on what it is set to. This method (that does the analysis) works great on the older zope and through the manage/view interface Any thoughts????? Dan

Re: [Zope] LAST_INSERT_ID and ZMySQLDA

Well this is not really a Zope question but since I just ported an sqlserver7 app to mySQL, I have the answer. 1) Name the auto_increment column in the column list 2) supply 0 or null as the value 3) To get the last_insert_id, the sytax is a little different, see below. Yours: INSERT INTO FileTypes (FileType, Extension) VALUES ("AutoCAD","DWG") <dtml-var sql_delimiter> SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID() AS LastID Changed (where filetypes_id is the name of your auto_increment column): INSERT INTO FileTypes (filetypes_id,FileType, Extension) VALUES (0,"AutoCAD","DWG") <dtml-var sql_delimiter> SELECT filetypes_id where filetypes_id=LAST_INSERT_ID() This was one of several issues I had to overcome, thank-you google. > ------------ Original Message ----------- > From: paul_s_johnson(a)urscorp.com <paul_s_johnson(a)urscorp.com> > Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2001 12:36:17 -0500 > > I have created a ZSQL method with an INSERT statement and a SELECT > statement containing a LAST_INSERT_ID function in it. RE: [Zope] ZServer (still) dying (from time to time)...

This happens on 2.3.1 and 2.3.0 as far as I can tell. Definitely happens on 2.3.1 though. This bug appears to be something deep in the bowels of one of our module's reference counting/memory allocation thingys (or so says gdb). I'm in over my head. Gonna get the big guns in. Might take a little while. In any case, are you both (Sven and Phillip) running Zope 2.3.1? Or is this another version? I have been able to reproduce the bug under 2.3.1 (actually the 2.3 branch of CVS), but I cannot reproduce it under a "trunk" CVS checkout. So it would seem we have a good start on finding out what it is. It would be interesting to find out if you folks are using something other than 2.3.1. - C ----- Original Message ----- From: "Error" <error(a)gargl.net> To: <zope(a)zope.org> Sent: Thursday, April 05, 2001 8:50 PM Subject: [Zope] ZServer (still) dying (from time to time)... > [Chris] > OK, I've been able to reproduce it. LAST_INSERT_ID and ZMySQLDA
by paul_s_johnson＠urscorp.com 10 Apr '01

10 Apr '01

I have created a ZSQL method with an INSERT statement and a SELECT statement containing a LAST_INSERT_ID function in it. These statements are separated by a <dtml-var sql_delimiter> tag. This is a typical scenario in which I want to grab the UNIQUE ID field value of the last record that was inserted so I can use that value to insert a linked record in another table. The ZSQL method returns nothing! If I understand this correctly each ZSQL is a unique MySQL instance so these statements need to be in the same ZSQL method in order to capture the correct LAST_INSERT_ID value, right? Here's my ZSQL Method ======================================== INSERT INTO FileTypes (FileType, Extension) VALUES ("AutoCAD","DWG") <dtml-var sql_delimiter> SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID() AS LastID ======================================== This inserts a new record in the table and returns nothing. I also double checked and yes there is an AUTO_INCREMENT field in the FileTypes table. I also tried using the alternate statement "SELECT * FROM FileTypes" after the delimiter tag thinking that perhaps the LAST_INSERT_ID () function was triggering the problem. This alternative returns nothing as well. It seems to me that you cannot have more than one statement in a ZSQL method and have it return anything. As a work-around I could use a MAX() function in a separate ZSQL method and have it be correct 99.99% of the time since this is a low traffic site, but I still prefer a method that is 100%. Why doesn't this work? Aargh. P. Johnson

RE: [Zope] External Methods nightmare

Your dtml method is not able to acquire the sql method. To help with this, we need to see the folder object structure. The problem isn't inside the external method. Where's the help for LocalFS?
by paul_s_johnson＠urscorp.com 10 Apr '01

I have LocalFS running in Zope 2.2.2 on Linux and Zope 2.2.4 on NT and there is no Help Tab (per LocalFS documentation) when I edit a LocalFS object. There is a methodHelp.dtml in the .../Products/LocalFS directory. Any ideas why I cannot access LocalFS help from the Zope management interface? Is something broken? P. Johnson
