RESPONSE.setHeader Command
by Tom Cameron 10 Apr '01

I am running Zope 2.3.0 on Apache 1.3.14 on FreeBSD 4.0 I have been concentrating on getting my zope site registered in the search engines and I have noticed some interesting behaviour. I was originally using Roxen + Zope and Altavista and (many of the major search engines) were rejecting my site with a response like 'An error occured while visiting your site' - of course they gave not detail of the error. I figured it may be Roxen so I changed to Apache, this helped with Altavista, but still other engines report errors. It is most definitely not a '404 NotFound' error as I am certian the server is ok. So I have done some more testing. I have been looking at the headers which look like: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2001 00:23:09 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.14 (Unix) X-Powered-By: Zope (www.zope.org) Python (www.python.org) Content-Length: 24801 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html I then emailed a site that has a .pl script to read headers (which was giving me error also) and found that their site did not like the 'X-Powered-By:' line and simply reported an error. I suspect that this may be the case with other search engines, but I can't tell for sure. My hope is to remove this line and see if it helps, but this is where my problem lies. How do I get rid of this line without modifying the HTTPResponse.py file? I tried to use the RESPONSE.setHeader command, but had no luck at all. I was able to append values to the header line, but I could not remove it or change it. The API documentation says that the value should be changed if you give a new value, but I have found this not to be the case. In fact the setHeader command is working much more like the appendHeader command for me. Does anybody have any idea? Hi It's again me. I'm sorry for that ... Thanks a lot to this comunity of helping angels ;) Now to my new problem: (might my description is to long, but I'm still desperate and are really looking for some help ... the site should be online the 27 of april ... ) In my project (new release with new server [ZOPE ;-) ] of www.kisc.ch Kandersteg International Scout Centre ) I need a vertical submenu (without cookies - so dtml-tree isn't the right thing). I was also looking through the product section of www.zope.org .There are several Products which do such things, but I couldn't find one which is suitable for me. So I tryed to do it with DTML ... but somehow I'm stocked here too (you can find my code at the end of this email) ... Thanks in advance to anybody who can help! Stefan Mallepell *What do I need exacltly: * A example of DTML Code to do this ... or help ... or a product which is doing this ... *DTML Code is favorised* (I don't know python yet ...) I will have a menu bar on the top of each page, this menu shows some icons wich links to the main Parts (PartA, PartB, PartC ..) On one Side I would like to have a vertical Submenu. This Submenu should be a tree structure of the area. The layout of the structure should be organised through a Table with details and colspan attributes. Some Submenu examples: (SiteContainer and "Part"-Level of Pages is not showed in Submenus!) Non-Cygnus Windows compile (was: Re: [Zope] Interbase Anyone??)
by Jan Murre 10 Apr '01

Hello Tom, I managed to compile the DynPersist.c that is needed for ZPatterns on W95 using the instructions at: <http://starship.python.net/crew/kernr/mingw32/Notes.html> Some Setup modification may be needed. In my case: *shared* DynPersist DynPersist.c -I../../ZODB -I/zope/zope-2.3.1-src/lib/Components/Extension Class Zope sources have to be available. Regards, Jan

Nope, you want ':lines', to persuade ZPublisher's marshalling code to split the submitted value into chunks at the newlines token. ':list' causes it to concatenate *multiple* submitted fields with the same name into a list. Re : [Zope] Javaapplet replacing ZMI navtree?
by Sin Hang Kin 09 Apr '01

I supspect that it does not even need javascript. Most javascript for such things is to generate the necessary data structures based on the tree structure. But we have the tree structure data ready on zope already. So it is just to use some dtml to generate the dynamic html with hide/show hot spots. Return of Zoo guestbook problem.

Hello all, I'm trying to tackle the Zoo GuestBook example from the Zope book: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/SimpleExamples.dtml I've got it all working except the last part in the AddEntry python script. I now have Zope 2.3.1 installed on my ISP's system. The script craters on the first line which reads: """ Create a guest book entry. """ # create a unique document id id='entry_%d' % len(context.objectIds()) With the following error message: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: context Troubleshooting Suggestions This resource may be trying to reference a nonexistent object or variable context. The URL may be incorrect. Zope and ActivePython 2.0
by Eric Roby 09 Apr '01

09 Apr '01

Is it possible for Zope 2.3.1 (Win32 distribution) to function with ActivePython 2.0 build 203. I am desperately trying to get 'Perl for Zope' up and running using ActiveState's latest pyperl 1.0.1 and zoperl 1.0 beta 5 (I don't have a C compiler and don't want to have to go through the earlier incantations with python 1.5.2 and distutils - because I am full of 'Laziness'). I have tried various Python installations, modifying start.bat to point to the correct Python installation and path and registry hacks. In every case where I try to point Zope to the Python 2.0 installation I get a start-up error that tells me that the version of Python I am trying to load is inconsistent with the python15.dll (even though python20.dll exists in the win32 folder). I am still relatively new to the ways of Zope, but I fail to see in any core python scripts where there is any hard-wiring going on. All Zope'd up and no where to go....

You know, you can do it with Zope's Management Interface? Then look at the code that does this. It will inform you how to proceed. Dieter
