Python script newbie question
by Godefroid Chapelle 10 Apr '01

10 Apr '01

Hi all, I am trying to produce a <br /> separated list with a python script : for para in paraList: result = result + para + '<br />' return result The problem is that I get something like that : para<br />another para<br />..... Is there a way to avoid html quoting with python scripts or am I supposed to use DTML method in this case ? -- Godefroid Chapelle BubbleNet sprl rue Victor Horta, 30 1348 Louvain-la-Neuve Belgium Tel 010 457490 Mob 0477 363942 TVA 467 093 008 RC Niv 49849

Re: [ZDP] socket.error 32 'Broken pipe'

Hi Luiz, I cc'ed the zope mail list on this question... That message appears when a browser breaks the current connection before the response is returned, and it's normal under most circumstances. It may or may not have anything to do with your Zope stability problem. A good thing to do would be to turn on detailed logging via the "-M" switch to z2.py. After you gather information in the log, use the script at http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/HowTos/DEBUG-LOG to figure out what requests aren't returning. See if there's a pattern. - C ----- Original Message ----- From: "Luiz Antonio B. I´m noticing a problem with Zope. It crashes sometimes (with some frequence, to be honest) with aparently no reason. Its the 2.3.1 final version instaled on a Linux Red Hat. Watching the console I got a lot of the folowing error: 2001-04-09T14:41:11 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <zhttp_channel connected 111.222.33.44:62517 at 881f588 channel#: 224 requests:2> (socket.error:(32, 'Broken pipe') [/opt/zope2.3.1/ZServer/medusa/asynchat.py|handle_read|80] [/opt/zope2.3.1/ZServer/medusa/http_server.py|recv|405] [/opt/zope2.3.1/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|recv|301]) Could someone tell me what´s wrong or what could I do? Hi, Sorry, it is not working, I did ALL you had suggested, but am still getting the same error: Error Type: IOError Error Value: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/tmp/986911909_683.out' Currently I am sub hosting so I had to a ln -s php ~/www/cgi-bin/php I also changed the PHPProduct.py, restarted Zope, but nothing, the product is OK -- ie not broken -- but I still get the above error when I execute the following PHP file <? phpinfo(); ?> Hopefully this should have given me all the PHP information. Ok real quick question how and were do you turn this on? I have looked all over the place for where to enter and what to use with the PROFILE_PUBLISHER environment variable and I cannot find where you are supposed to enter this information and how? z2.py? Command line? or in the start parameters section of windows 2000 services? Hi When I use the following tag, the result only contains the first and second records in the postgres table. When setting size to "2" it gives me all the records but two at a time. Is this a known problem or am I doing something wrong? <dtml-in sqlSelectAllCustomers size=1 start=query_start> Thanks Grant

How to e-mail only when data available?
by Edwin Martin 10 Apr '01

10 Apr '01

I have an e-mail list and I want to regularly send agenda-items. But I don't want to send anything when there are no items. I can't find a way to do that. See my script at the bottom of the page. mailing_sqlselectactief selects all e-mail addresses and some variables (soort and regio) which makes a selection from the agenda. mailing_sqlverstuur uses soort and regio to select agenda items I have to do <dtml-call>, otherwise the script won't work (weird!) What can I do to send the list *only* when there is a list? I tried putting <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> inside the <dtml-if sequence-start>, but that's not possible. <dtml-in mailing_sqlselectactief> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('soort',soort)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('regio',regio)"> <dtml-in mailing_sqlverstuur> <dtml-if sequence-start> To: <dtml-var email> From: x Subject: x </dtml-if> ---- <dtml-var showagendaitem> </dtml-in> </dtml-in>

Multiple Products directories

Each site already has its own INSTANCE_HOME > for its own, private products, so this one cannot be used. > Yes you can simply by appending another directory to Products.__path__. The question then comes where the best place to add it would be. If you are prepared to edit Products/__init__.py add a line: __path__.append('yourpathhere') for each directory you want to add to the default Products directory. Alternatively if you want to avoid editing Products/__init__.py you can inject the extra paths from outside, e.g. from z2.py: import Products Products.__path__.append('extraProductDir') A good place to do this might be custom_zodb if, for example you are using ZEO, although I haven't checked to see whether this would be early enough in the startup, if done too late the extra products won't be picked up. Another option is to create a product to make the change for you. Create a subdirectory in Products called anything you like. e.g. ExtraProducts. Create a file in this directory __init__.py containing: import Products Products.__path__.append('extraProductDir') Change the path to reflect your desired directory structure, restart Zope and you should now pick up products from both directories. In some ways this is cleaner as it isolates the change so you dont have to worry when upgrading your zope system, but it actually works by changing a variable while a for loop is iterating through its contents which tends to worry me. -- Duncan Booth duncan(a)rcp.co.uk

Multiple Products directories
by Ivo van der Wijk 10 Apr '01

Hi Everyone, Is it possible to have multiple Product directories? I wish to get a shared Products directory between multiple zope instances without using the Products dir in the zope tree itself (as this may get updated, removed, etc). Each site already has its own INSTANCE_HOME for its own, private products, so this one cannot be used. My current solution is to link into the zope Products dir, but I don't like this solution. Cut,Copy and Paste with own ZClass
by Steffen Bergmann 10 Apr '01

Hello! I have created a new Product with my own ZClass to define my own type of folder. This ZClass has "ZObject" and "ZFolder" as base classes. Everything is working great but I can´t do "Cut, Copy, Paste or Rename" with instances of these ZClass. What is the problem. ZOPE says "The object xyz does not support this operation". What can I do?
