FW: [Zope] Form processing in Zope

There are two ways around avoiding the <dtml-if "ActionList == 1"> NameError problem that I know of: 1. Wrap your if statements with another if statement: <dtml-if ActionList> <dtml-if expr="ActionList == 1"> Do this <dtml-elif expr="ActionList == 2"> Do that. </dtml-if> </dtml-if> 2. At the top of your script, if an form value expected by your script doesn't exist, set it to something: <dtml-unless ActionList> <dtml-var "REQUEST.set('ActionList','some_default_value')"> </dtml-unless> > On 30 Mar 2001 12:23:51 +0100, Phil Harris wrote: >> Gitte, >> >> try putting this >> >> <dtml-var REQUEST> >> >> into your page, and see what form variables are being returned. > > phew it gives a lot ! > > But I discovered one thing: > When you enter the site, there is no variable named ActionList, but when > you hit the submit button there is a ActionList with value=1 > > hmm .. what now? > I need to test for that variable but it has to be declared before > running the script. > Has anyone had these kinds of problems ? > > Gitte >>>>>>> >>>>>>> I need to test on the value from the select box, eg: >>>>>>> The selectbox is names ActionList. >>>>>>> >>>>>>> <dtml-if expr="ActionList == 1"> >>>>>>> Do this >>>>>>> <dtml-elif expr="ActionList == 2"> >>>>>>> Do that. >>>>>>> >>>>>>> But when I say <dtml-id expr="<dtml-var ActionList> == 1"> >>>>>>> I get a syntax error. Why don't you just not include standart_html_(header/footer) in you root index_html? cheers, oliver

Hi Paul, to learn a little bit about ZClasses I found http://www.zope.org/Members/kedai/BuildSimpleZClass very helpfull. It teaches you how to build a ZClass and the process to build a management screen to add the properties via the constructor. cheers, oliver

Who is willing to write a new database adapter?
by Ulrich Wisser 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

Hi, we use the Adabas D database. I did not find any Python or Zope database adapter for it. I tried to use the Perl-DBI drivers but these have a lot of bugs. Is there anybody willing to write a phyton driver and zope adapter for Adabas D? We would be willing to donate some money and of course all software should be GPL. If you are interessted, please contact me at u.wisser(a)publisher.de Thanks Ulrich -- Searchengine Know How - Webpromotion - Optimization - Internal Search World Wide Web Publisher, Ulrich Wisser, Odensvag 13, S-14571 Norsborg http://www.publisher.de Tel: +46-8-53460905 Fax: +46-8-534 609 06

Images again
by Patrick 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

Hi all, Sometime back I posted something about ftp security and since then I have grown to appreciate the way Medusa tries to deal with the possibility of an acl folder appearing further down the trees. I solved my ftp worries (hopefully) by having my firewall allow ftp to that port ONLY from my LAN... Thanx for all who chipped in. Anyhow, now I am back to another post of mine. I posted something about having a site display random images from a folder , say images and thanks Tino and Dieter for the info in whrandom. I now have to take that further. The scenario is this. I want to be able to have a web based login screen as well as a sign up one. I have read the posts on using Login Manager or UserDB... but what I want is to have on the signup page a section that requests for things like hobbies and preferences and stores it in a database. Question is .. which of the two (Login manager or UserDB) will better suit my requiements and could someone give me a hint on how I would implement this? Also if I have images in folders say a_fold and b_fold and I have set a string property to the folders say like and in a_fold the value is "a" and in b_fold it is "b". Assuming that I have a database of someone's preferences and in it I have a string like which either has 'a' or 'b' or 'both' as it's value. How do I display random images from the folders according to what is in the database (assume its a mysql database)? Sorry for the lllooong set of probably unclear requests and thanks for any help anyone can give. Patrick.

BUG ? in 2.3.1b3
by Jerome Alet 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

Hi, I don't know if I've done something wrong or not but on a fresh 2.3.1b3 install there seems to be no index_html document in the root folder, this leads to an error when trying to access the site. I've noticed that the QuickStart has gone away, but maybe index_html was too much. on another topic, it seems that the root folder doesn't have a getId() method. IMHO it should have one, returning an id which can't conflict with user defined ones, like "#ROOT#" for example: then it should be easier to make method which traverse the folder tree from the leaves to the root. bye, Jerome Alet - alet(a)unice.fr - http://cortex.unice.fr/~jerome Fac de Medecine de Nice http://wwwmed.unice.fr Tel: (+33) 4 93 37 76 30 Fax: (+33) 4 93 53 15 15 28 Avenue de Valombrose - 06107 NICE Cedex 2 - FRANCE

dtml-sqlgroup question.
by Jeremy Cowgar 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

I have created code that uses dtml-in ... sequence tags and I want to be able to use the same page (mfgList) to access diffrent sets of that data. For instance, say I have three companies in my manufacturers table: Borland, Microsoft and Novel. I want to be able to see all entires (using the great PREV/NEXT tags that sequences provide) but then I also want to use the same page to display filtered data (only companies in Washington for instance). My problem lies in that I do not always pass the parameters. Here is my sql code: <params>mfg_id mfg_name</params> select * from mfg <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest mfg_id op=eq type=int optional> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqltest mfg_name op=like type=string optional> </dtml-sqlgroup> order by mfg_name and here is sniplet's of my dtml code (mfgList.z): <dtml-in mfgSelect.sql size=10 orphan=1 start=query_start> ... all the stuff to display the info, prev and next tags ... </dtml-in> What happens is Zope err's when all the parameters are not sent. From another page, I may reference a URL like: mfgList.z?mfg_name=Bor What I want that to do is display everything that is like Bor ... but it complains that it did not recieve enough parameters. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks! Jeremy - jeremy(a)cowgar.com
