Newbie Zope Question
by Ixokai 30 Mar '01

I've been looking over the Zope website, and basically like the idea that each page should have its own folder, with a single 'index_html' in the root directory that handles a uniform design for the rest of the site. But, its not perfect. For instance, I want my first page to be a splash page that doesn't conform to this uniform pattern, and I don't nessecarily want the rest of the site to be based off of a sub-directory. For instance, http://mydomain.org/ is a splash-screen, and I wish http://mydomain.org/Topic1 through Topic9 to all conform to my Sitewide Style. I suspose I could have a http://mydomain.org/Main that is the true 'main index' page, and put everything off of it, e.g. http://mydomain.org/Main/Topic1 ... but that is not optimal. Anyways, what's the best way to do this? I tried to do a minimal bit of DTML, for instance, checking for the existance of a property (<dtml-if OverrideIndex> <dtml-var override_html> <dtml-else> <dtml-var header> ...etc... </dtml-if>), but properties are inherited down the line, and I would rather not have to specifically set 'OverrideIndex:0' on all of the sub-folders.... If thats the only or best way, though, I'll deal. :) Thanks for any help. --Ixokai

Re: dtml-with and dtml-sqltest

Lee, the zope mailing list is more appropriate for ZOPE inquiries. there is a larger community focused solely on that domain. please direct email to zope(a)zope.org. I dont really know what sqltest does, I have never used it. you can try this: sqlMethod - arguement - aaa=1 SELECT * FROM table WHERE id=<dtml-sqlvar aaa type="int"> dtmlMethod: <dtml-let aaalist="[1,2,3]"> <dtml-in aaalist> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('aaa', _['sequence-item'])"> <dtml-in getPhById> <dtml-var PH> </dtml-in> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> the dtmlMethod should probably be in a PythonMethod that looks like: aaalist=[1,2,3] stuff = [] for aaa in aaalist: for sql in container.getPhById({'aaa': aaa}): # _TRICKY_ ZSQLMethods *DO NOT* use DTML namespace stuff.append(sql[0]) # position in sql row returned return stuff Lessons learned: PythonMethods are cleaner (on a whole), ZSQL doesnt get a DTML namespace, Dieter Maurer has most of the answers on the ZOPE mailing list, just search through it @ egroups. ~runyaga

RE: [Zope] Opinions sought on acquisition issue

BTW, I have a product called "CascadingFolders" that does exactly this. If you need something like that let me know and I'll upload it to Zope.org. -Randy > -----Original Message----- > From: Chris McDonough [mailto:chrism@digicool.com] > Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2001 6:33 PM > To: The Famous Brett Watson; zope(a)zope.org > Subject: Re: [Zope] Opinions sought on acquisition issue > > > > The reason that this is an issue at all, however, is because > > identically-named container objects to not acquire the > contents of the > > containers they mask, if any. PythonScript calling a DTML method and passing a list
by Ronald L. Roeber 30 Mar '01

30 Mar '01

Hello, I am still unclear on how to call a DTML method with a script while passing the results of that script. For example. The results of some long form call a PythonScript called makeSummary I want the results of makeSummary called MyList to be passed to a DTML Method called printResults ---makeSummary PythonScript----- REQUEST = context.REQUEST RESPONSE = context.REQUEST.RESPONSE """ Magic Python Code that generates a summary list""" MyList=['one','two','three',...] # Simuation print context.printResults( MyList, context, context.REQUEST ) return printed -----end of script------ --section of printResults DTML method--- <dtml-in MyList> Score Priority <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> ----------- Zope returns a Key Error: and states that "This resource (printResults) may be trying to reference a nonexistent object or variable MyList". It seems MyList is either gone or not in the namespace of the printResults DTML method. What am I doing wrong? I can't seem to find or (more likely) don't understand how do this from the documentation. Ronald L. Roeber University of Nebraska

I have installed CMF 1.0 on Zope 2.3.1.2beta and everything seems to work well (it is very impressive) except when I try to add news.... I select a news item to add, do everything including submit and it shows up as published but when I go to the home page or the news page I get an error of: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: call of non-function (type IOBTree) Traceback (innermost last): File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: index_html) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: index_html) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 189, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_With.py, line 146, in render (Object: portal_properties) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/CMFCore/FSDTMLMethod.py, line 213, in __call__ (Object: news_box) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: news_box) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 483, in renderwb (Object: portal_catalog.searchResults( meta_type='News Item' , sort_on='Date' , sort_order='reverse' , review_state='published' )) File /home/mehmety/Zope-2.3.0-linux2-x86/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py, line 334, in eval (Object: portal_catalog.searchResults( meta_type='News Item' , sort_on='Date' , sort_order='reverse' , review_state='published' )) (Info: portal_catalog) File <string>, line 0, in ? Folder problem..
by Laurie Nason 29 Mar '01

29 Mar '01

Hi y'all, I have a small problem with the URL that is created by zope - I don't know if it will cause a problem or not. OK I have my root folder which holds the standard header and then a sub folder that holds the html docs. When I click in the header on the html docs I want I use 'htmldocs/docname' in the html - It works fine and gives me the page that I want, however if I click on the same link again it will give me 'htmldocs/htmldocs/docname' and each time I click on it it adds in another htmldocs for me. Any ideas how to get around this? Thanks Laurie

catalog object...
by After Dark 29 Mar '01

29 Mar '01

Hi, I am trying to use catalog_object from ZCatalog, but I don`t find any example, just the interface. Ex.: <dtml-call "catalogos.catalog_object("Folder","REQUEST['arquivo']")"> self--> reference to the ZCatalog ojb--> type of object? object? uid--> name of id Thanks. ________________________________________________ Don't E-Mail, ZipMail! http://www.zipmail.com/
