getting rest of url path (after matching obj) from python script
by Oliver Frommel 29 Mar '01

29 Mar '01

Hello, is there a way to access URL path elements from python scripts? I am using a python script to inhibit acquisition and be able to use the rest of the URL path as a parameter (instead of using QUERY_STRING e.g.). That means i have a script called "frame" in the doc root and want to get the rest of the URL path: http://server.com/frame/rest/of/path using "return context.REQUEST.URL" just returns "http://server.com/frame" is there any way to get the rest of the URL? thanks --Oliver

Wish i'd known that. The problem is my ZClass is alreday created and populated. Is there any chance of a solution other than deleting the property, adding it again as a lines or tokens type and reinserting all the values? eric

Compiling on Mac OS X
by Gregg Hartling 29 Mar '01

I've rewritten this email three times now, finally deciding on bullet points, because we're all so busy :-) - I'm trying to compile Python 2.0 & Zope 2.3.0 on Mac OS X - Using instructions from http://www.zope.org/Members/jshell/ZopeOnOSX - Today's update to the document got Python installed correctly. Yeah! - Zope compiles and installs, gives me the admin password. Yeah! - I type ./start, but get this: <snip> Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/zope/2-3-0/z2.py", line 565, in ? exec "import "+MODULE in {} File "<string>", line 1, in ? File "/usr/local/zope/2-3-0/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py", line 94, in ? import ZODB, ZODB.ZApplication, imp File "/usr/local/zope/2-3-0/lib/python/ZODB/__init__.py", line 85, in ? import sys, ExtensionClass, TimeStamp, cPersistence, Persistence ImportError: No module named ExtensionClass </snip> - Disclaimer: I'm a newbie - I'm guessing I don't have the ExtensionClass Python module? - It's "Not Found" at http://www.digicool.com/releases/ExtensionClass/ - Has anyone gotten Zope to start on Mac OS X? Does anyone know where to get the ExtensionClass module? Any help would be much appreciated! Gregg Hartling hartling(a)earthlink.net

Product that catches webdav PUTs and does something else
by Tim Hicks 29 Mar '01

Folks, I'm trying to create a product (dtml-documentish) that will allow me to catch PUT requests from Netscape Composer so that I can clean up the mess that Composer makes of dtml before the upload is actually added to the ZODB. Is this feasible idea *without patching and Zope source*? Will Zope let me define a 'PUT' method in the product that gets invoked when an upload is tried? Or is the procedure pre-defined in the guts of Zope? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers Tim

Acquistion in a form
by David Kyte 29 Mar '01

29 Mar '01

Hi ZopeGODS, I am happy and understand acquisition when applied to acquiring objects above the current directory. I have an application that manipulates lists /Mgr /RenameDocID /Rename /Delete /Lists /List1 /List2 /List.... I have succesfully implemented tools like Rename, Delete, New that create and manipultate lists is the Lists directory. However being a tidy minded sort of programmer, my Mgr folder is starting to get bloated - I do hate scrolling :( I thought it might be a good idea to include the tools in a Tool folder ie /Mgr /Tools /RenameDocID /Rename /Delete /Lists /List1 /List2 /List.... I can call the Rename method using <dtml-var "Tools.RenameDocID( _.None, _)"> fine. Problem arises that my rename process is to parts, I call RenameDocID which has a form to display the oldname and capture the new name. How can I then define the action location in the form? Code included below: RenameDocID method: <form action="RenameDoc"> <---------???????? <h3>Rename from: [<dtml-var "REQUEST['FileName']">] to :</h3> <input type=text name=NewName width=20 value=NewName> <input type=hidden name=OldName width=20 value='<dtml-var "REQUEST['FileName']">'> <p> <input type=submit name=Rename value=Rename> <input type=submit name=Cancel value=Cancel> </form> RenameDoc <dtml-if "_.hasattr( REQUEST, 'Rename' )"> <dtml-call "manage_renameObject( REQUEST['OldName'], REQUEST['NewName'] )"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect( 'index_html' )"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect( 'index_html' )"> </dtml-if>

RE: DTML documents killing Zope (was RE: [Zope] ZServer dying)

Ok, I've narrowed down the circumstances a bit. The code actually looks more like this: ## Script (Python) "showmachine_html" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters=machineid=None ##title= ## REQUEST = context.REQUEST RESPONSE = REQUEST.RESPONSE print context.standard_html_header(context,REQUEST) if machineid: # Call ZSQL method m = container.machine.SQL_get(machineid=machineid)[0] if m: m = m[0] else: machineid = None if machineid and m: print container.machine.show_html(context,REQUEST, machineid='', owner='', ownerdept='', owneremail='', ownertel='', machinetype='', machineos='', machineserialno='', location='', comment=m.comment) print context.standard_html_footer(context,REQUEST) return printed This will trigger it off. *If* the 12th parameter is a record property, then the method will fail sporadically (but better than 90% of the time). There can be >12 parameters though. Very, very odd. I'm trying to pare down the example to one I can export - this is totally freaky. The application is... complex. I'll try to replicate it the behaviour as a smaller sample tomorrow...
