RE: [Zope] Question about python binary with zope install
by Andy Gimblett 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

If (like me) you _want_ Zope to use an already-installed Python, you'll need to install from Zope source. I chose to do this to get the MySQL DA working, since I already had that mysqldb module installed in Python. :-) Cheers, -Andy -- Andy Gimblett <andy.gimblett(a)ftech.net> Programmer Frontier Internet Services Limited <www.frontier-internet.ltd.uk> Tel: 029 20 820 044 Fax: 029 20 820 035 Statements made are at all times subject to Frontier's Terms and Conditions of Business, which are available upon request.

[DC]Updating DTML and HTML in Products
by Farrell, Troy 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

Hey Guys: I am using the Tracker (from CVS) and I noted the high content of DTML in the older format: and some HTML that *could* be updated to XHTML. I have been tweaking my Tracker ZClass and I want to know if DC is interested in files that *only* have DTML updated to the new format (no site specific changes) or updated HTML. Troy

Doing something to all objects of a given Meta Type
by Chris Withers 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

Hi, I ended up doing this today and thought others might find it useful: Say you want to do something to all objects of a given metatype, like update them for example, you can do this in a Python Script (I used an External Method, but they should be the same): stuff = context.ZopeFind(self,obj_metatypes=['Squishdot Site']) Stuff is now a list of tuples. Each tuple is of the form (object_id,actual_object) If this is useful to enough people, I'll stick it in a how-to cheers, Chris

addUser
by Paz 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

Hi all, I've been surfing around the .py's trying to find a way to add a user via dtml... Am I barking up a non-existant tree? I see alot of _addUser, doAddUser, manage_users.addUser, but nothing seems to work. Is there a method I can call? Thanks for input as always, I hold my wine glass up to you... Paz

I just found that the NISUserFolder at: http://www.zope.org/Members/jfarr/Products/NISUserFolder/ appears to install and work. What is the difference between the two. ? dtml-tree recursion
by nuno 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

Hi there ! I trying to work with dtml-tree tag to show my site contents. I have a dtml-method that does that. Still, the calling Dtml Document passes to the method that shows the tree, a variable (kind of a parameter) that i need to access in the method. All goes OK : ) both the tree and the variable are displayed ! The problem is when i click the +/- icon Zope gives me an error that couldn't access the variable passed as argument. I think that it might be a problem with recursion of the tree. does anyone have an ideia how to solve this recursion problem ? thanks in advance and best regards, Nuno

Re: [Zope] Passing arg by URL
by Lee Marzke 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

I solved this by sending the arg via url mangling to a DTML method and then by normal args to the ZSQL method. Yes, even the ZOPE book describes that it should work the other way. ZSQL update operations
by Lee Marzke 13 Mar '01

13 Mar '01

Hi, I'm displaying a set of data from a ZSQL method. The showStatus method below works just fine. I would now like to have a link on each data item allowing an ZSQL update or delete operation. Can this be done by passing args to the ZSQL method vai the URL? I'm a beginner with Zope/ZSQL btw... I am partly unsure when the ZSQL method should define a parameter ( for instance to pass something by a URL, does that variable need to be a paramenter ) Thanks, Lee Marzke <lmarzke(a)kns.com> == statusALL DTML method == <dtml-in "objectValues('Folder')"> <dtml-var showStatus> </dtml-in> The following method shows data where the revname column is equal == showStatus DTML Method == <h3></h3> <table width="80%" border=0 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=0> <tr><th>ID</th><th>Name</th><th>Begin</th><th>End</th><th>Status</th></tr> <tr bgcolor="#eeeeee"> <tr bgcolor="#ffffff"> <td></td> <td></td> <td></td> <td></td> <td></td> <td><a href="">Update</a></td> </tr> </table> ===showPending() ZSQL method === SELECT requestid, revname, username, starttime, endtime, comment, status FROM tableR status = 0 Lee Marzke <lmarzke(a)kns.com> 12-Mar-01, 10:58:07 Kulicke & Soffa Industries 2101 Blair Mill Rd +1 215 784-6217 Willow Grove, PA 19090 +1 215 784-6014 fax

Hi there, I'm setting up a MS Access database for a project I'm working and would like to use it with my Zope site.....having a little trouble though. Installed the Zope ODBC adaptor but don't know how to connect it to Zope? keeps giving me "bad request" errors when I try to specify a connection string / any connection string! Is there more to installing the ODBC adaptor than just importing it to the products folder? Seeking guidance ... Cheers
