how do I tell zope which python to use. and add the zmysqlda to it? mysql module wanted something newer than 1.5 -- as currently setup 1.5 is in the zope seen at the bottom -- I added python 2.x to the system from the TAR ball, and made sure the mysql module was upto date (as seen in the top half below). ZMySQLDa and Win32
by David Parker 03 Mar '01

I'm attempting to use MySQL with Zope on Windows 2000. Here is a summary of products used. Zope 2.3 MySQL 3.23.33 ZMySQLDA-2.0.4 MySQL-python-0.3.3 I followed the howto laid out at http://www.zope.org/Members/philh/mysql . (I cannot find the file libmySQL.dll). After all is said and done ZMySQLDa is installed as a broken product. Below is a Traceback. Has anyone gotten this to work or know of a more current howto? Traceback (innermost last): File "C:\Zope\DavWeb\lib\python\OFS\Application.py", line 530, in import_products product=__import__(pname, global_dict, global_dict, silly) File "C:\Zope\DavWeb\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\__init__.py", line 91, in ? import DA File "C:\Zope\DavWeb\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\DA.py", line 91, in ? from db import DB File "C:\Zope\DavWeb\lib\python\Products\ZMySQLDA\db.py", line 89, in ? import _mysql ImportError: No module named _mysql Thanks, David

Python before version 2.0 can not collect cyclic garbage. Look on http://www.python.org for tools to detect cycles. If you can not think any there, look in the archive of comp.lang.python. Dieter

Problem with manage_ChangeProperties
by Gregg Hartling 03 Mar '01

03 Mar '01

Hopefully this is one of those dumb newbie questions that someone will be able to answer quite easily: I'm in Zope 2.3.0, and using a Python script to try to change a property of a DTML document, using a call like this: doc.manage_changeProperties({"foo":bar}) # doc, "foo" and bar are just examples I receive the following error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: manage_page_header I get the same error trying to do a dtml-call to the method within the document. However, I'm able to execute manage_addProperty() successfully in both situations. Am I missing something? Big thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction. I'm just starting up the learning curve here. :-) Gregg. -- Gregg Hartling hartling(a)earthlink.net

SiteAccess, Set Access Rule, Proxy, ReWrite or Virtual Host Monster
by Peter Bengtsson 03 Mar '01

There seems to be many ways to connect a domain name to a folder in Zope without :8080 in the URL. All I care about is being able to have access to REMOTE_ADDR in my application and the hiding of "ugly URLs". I've got a structure like this: /app/members/ /member1 /member2 Both member1 and member2 deserve a SiteAccess object there. If I use Apache:80 to ProxyPass to 127.0.0.1:8080/app/members/member1 Everything looks nice and as it should, but I loose the very important REMOTE_ADDR So I add ProxyVia on in the VirtualHost definition in httpd.conf Doesn't help. REMOTE_ADDR remains being 127.0.0.1 and <dtml-var HTTP_VIA> returns "1.1 domain.server" (where the domain name is e.g. domain.server.org, if you see what I mean) So the hints of using HTTP_VIA and "ProxyVia on" fails. :( I want to be able to use Aquisition. Which one of all the things mentioned in my subject line is the most common and "modern"? I see that there are a lot of How-To's using various techniques, but I can't tell which one the pros recommend. Virtual Host Monster is pretty new I think, but I don't understand how to use it. As far as I've understood, the Virtual Host Monster's main feature is that you can have many folders somewhere else to point _into_ some other folder tree. I looked at this http://www.zope.org/Members/unfo/apache_zserver_ssl But I don't want to use SSL at this stage. I tried that syntax but it fails as mentioned above. Why? I am apparently not alone about this. Peter
