Zope is great!
by Adam Getchell 02 Mar '01

Hello all, I've been buried in reading and playing with Zope, which is much cooler than our previous Delphi/IIS incarnation. Before I dive back in, I wanted to thank everyone for the great advice on what to do and where to look. In 2 days I've gotten more functionality than our previous effort after 6 months of development. Thanks again, *************************** * Adam Getchell AdamG(a)hrrm.ucdavis.edu * System Administrator (530) 752-1584 * Human Resources Information Systems http://hr.ucdavis.edu/ *************************** "Invincibility is in oneself, vulnerability in the opponent." -- Sun Tzu

RE: [Zope] Bad Request

Daniel, I doubt that many on this list (myself included) have a version of Zope old enough to help you troubleshoot this. Since there have been many changes and (especially) bugfixes, you may consider upgrading. It sounds like a Zope bug that has likely been squished since 2.0.1 Troy -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Rusch [mailto:drusch@globalcrossing.com] Sent: Friday, March 02, 2001 4:25 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Bad Request Help, We have a page that submits a numeric code. There is the "branches_expr" attribute to "dtml-tree". You can use it like this: <dtml-tree ... branches_expr="yourDTMLmethod(_vars.None,_vars)"> .... </dtml-tree> > Or do I necessarily have to use Python? Now, with PythonScripts, it is worth to learn Python (it was before, but now it is even more rewarding). Re: [Zope] *not newbie* How do you interact with your RDMS?

One colleague of mine uses DTML, because of the TTW editing capabilities. Another used External Methods (in the time, as PythonScript has not yet been around), because they allow to express complex generation rules more clearly. Dieter

Hi Zope and Python Fans, So far there have been two topics proposed for Zope "Birds of a Feather" gatherings: Content Management Framework (CMF, aka PTK) ZEO and Mission Critical Zope Can anyone hazard a guess as to when these might take place, for those of us who just can't manage a four day trip this time? Thanks, Jerry S.

Wrapping zope header/footer around LocalFS html objects
by Pieter Biemond 02 Mar '01

02 Mar '01

Hello, Today I installed the LocalFS-product and would really like to use it to wrap/zopify (local) html-files on a Zope-site. That is: see a HTML-file with the Zope standard_html_header and standard_html_footer attached. I read the LocalFS-FAQ at http://www.zope.org/Members/jfarr/HowTo/DTML_with_LocalFS and tried the following dtml-document: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var "localfsdir['somefile.html'].data"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Unfortuately it doesn't work. Can anybody tell me why? Furthermore, I really would like to be able to render a lot of HTML-files this way (and extract the TITLE and BODY tags if possible). Did anybody do this before? I found a bit of Python code that should be able to extract the body-tag, but I am clueless how to get it to work using LocalFS. page = <<somehowreferencethelocalfsobject>>.data regex = re.compile(r'<body.*?>(.*?)</body>', re.I | re.M | re.S) result = regex.search(page) if result: return result.group(1) else return "no body tag found" Any help would be appreciated, Pieter Biemond PS I also tried using DocBrowser, but can't get it do to what I want either.

Virtual Host Monster question
by spinwing＠inwind.it 02 Mar '01

02 Mar '01

Hello I was playing around with SiteAccess and VirtualHostMonster to get aquainted to it. My simulation is: I have a Zope folder called http://host:8080/virtual. My goal is to have Apache on top of Zope running at http://host and hiding the zope by translating all requests from http://host/virtual into http://host:8080/virtual, thus shielding the 8080 port. I found a lot of documents about that, so I managed a way out doing the following: Apache httpd.conf ProxyPass /virtual/ http://host:8080/virtual/VirtualHostBase/http/host/VirtualHostRoot/ ProxyPassReverse /virtual/ http://host:8080/virtual/VirtualHostBase/http/host/VirtualHostRoot/ ProxyPass /misc_ http://host/misc_ ProxyPass /p_ http://host/p_ Now my virtual directory works. Now comes the problem. I have a method called index_html. If I call http://host/virtual the methed gets displayed but no pictures and all the links are pointing to the Zope 8080 port. However, if I call the method directly http://host/virtual/index_html, everything is perfect..... Then I said, ok I try SiteRoot, but whenever I add it to the folder, setting the base path to http://host/virtual/, then I cannot manage it anymore from the management console.....however, if I browse it at http://host/virtual/manage I can see only the subfolders, not the root folder..... Can somebody help me with this? Thank you Regards Stefano
