wampum example
by Jeremy Howard 19 Feb '01

19 Feb '01

Good evening everyone, I've searched the web and have looked at the examples provided with the wampum product but cannot find a real world example. Is there anyone out there that is using this product and can offer some help. The only thing I need to know is how one gets the results back after making a call to the processorder method. TIA Jeremy Howard jeremyh(a)flashcom.net

unexplained hang
by Leichtman, David J 19 Feb '01

19 Feb '01

I'm running Zope 2.1.6 on Solaris. I have a sudden, unexplained hang that doesn't seem to be tied to any modifications. The server will hang indefinitely, after throwing this error: 2001-02-19T01:17:11 ERROR(200) ZServer uncaptured python exception, closing channel <FCGIChannel connected 127.0.0.1:49676 at 8c3b88> (socket.error:(32, 'Broken pipe') [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asynchat.py|initiate_send|211] [/opt/zope/ZServer/medusa/asyncore.py|send|274]) But runs fine in debug mode. Any ideas?

CoreSessionTracking: Initializing a new berkeley storage
by Randall F. Kern 18 Feb '01

18 Feb '01

My goal is robust session storage, using CoreSessionTracking 0.7. I've got (all running on a single linux box): ZEO, providing two storages: 1. FileStorage (with the name 'main') 2. BerkelyStorage (named 'session') Zope 2.3.0: With a custom_zodb.py file, which uses a ClientStorage to connect to ZEO using the 'main' storage. External Method: Inside the Extensions directory of my Product directory, I've got a SessionMount.py, with a function that returns a ZODB.DB() on another ClientStorage talking to the same ZEO but using the 'session' storage. Now I try to add an External Method Mount. I give it the module ZSpoke.SessionMount (my product is named ZSpoke- this seems to work fine.) I set the function to createSessionDB(), also works. The path is set to /session_storage. This results in an error from MountPoint._getMountRoot: "No 'Application' object exists in the mountable database." So... I started python and made an application object and a session_storage folder: Python 1.5.2 (#2, Nov 14 2000, 17:28:06) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs- on linux2 Copyright 1991-1995 Stichting Mathematisch Centrum, Amsterdam >>> import Zope Applying TransparentFolders patch version 0.3. >>> from Products.ZSpoke.Extensions.SessionMount import createSessionDB >>> db = createSessionDB() >>> conn = db.open() >>> root = conn.root() >>> from OFS.Application import Application >>> app = Application() >>> root['Application'] = app >>> get_transaction().commit() >>> from OFS.Folder import Folder >>> folder = Folder() >>> folder.id = 'session_storage' >>> folder.title = 'Session Storage' >>> app._setObject('session_storage', folder) 'session_storage' >>> get_transaction().commit() >>> conn.close() Then I added an External Session Data Container inside the session_storage folder, and changed my Session Data Manager to use it. Everything seems to work, but I'm very unsure :) One small problem I've noticed is the 'Data object timeout value in minutes' property on the Manage tab of the External Session Data Container is always 0, even if I try to change it. Anyone have any ideas, confirmation, I'm stupid, etc? Thanks! -Randy

This can easily result in a string, at least in a different object type. Dieter

breadcrumb navigation and ZUBB
by Ulrich Wisser 18 Feb '01

18 Feb '01

Hello, I try to build a breadcrumb navigation root_folder : forum : Topic But with my code I get as forum title only the title I gave at its creation, when I call a method, e.g. search http://domain/forum/search will give root : forum : forum When I make search a DTML-Document (instead of DTML-Method) I get root : search : search And with any topic I get root : topic : topic : topic Does anybody know how to do this correct or where this error is coming from? Please find my code below. Thanks Ulrich <title> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('reverse_PARENTS', [])"> <dtml-in PARENTS skip_unauthorized> <dtml-call "reverse_PARENTS.insert(0, _['sequence-item'])"> </dtml-in> <dtml-in reverse_PARENTS> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-var title_or_id> </dtml-with>  :  </dtml-in> <dtml-var title_or_id> </title> -- Searchengine Know How - Webpromotion - Optimization - Internal Search World Wide Web Publisher, Ulrich Wisser, Odensvag 13, S-14571 Norsborg http://www.publisher.de Tel: +46-8-53460905 Fax: +46-8-534 609 06

[Ann] Chapter "Basic Concepts" of my upcoming Zope book
by Dieter Maurer 18 Feb '01

18 Feb '01

Dear Zopistas, the chapter "Basic Concepts" of my upcoming Zope book is ready for preview. It covers Zope site building objects, Web publishing, name lookup, DTML, site management and Zope security. You find it at URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/book/chap3.html I consider it a valuable resource beside (and probably after) the official Zope book. It covers many of the questions that recur often in Zope's main mailing list. It is currently in a pre-alpha state. I know of the following problems: * lack of graphics to explain difficult concepts (such as DTML namespace, acquisition and Zope's security model) * many broken links If external links are broken, it was my lazyness. Broken internal links are caused by Python's XML processing tools not yet being fully up to process DocBook. * synopsis sections look very strange, caused by small bugs in Norman Walsh's DocBook stylesheets * lack of a stylesheet to improve presentation Dieter

The official Zope animal
by Philipp Auersperg 18 Feb '01

18 Feb '01

We have found the official Zope animal: it is a fish that is rare but populated in whole europe. It can be found in the Austrian directory fish types: (the page is in german but when I have time I'll put a translated version of it onto our homepage) http://www.oefg1880.at/fische/zope.html Wouldn't that be the right animal to be put on the O'Reilly Book )): ...any comments?
