FTP rights problem

Hello, When a user connects with FTP to a Zope folder with only rights on that subfolder he can't create a folder or delete files. He has the Manager role and all the rights. Is this a bug or do I have to give this user Manager rights to the root of the zope instance ? Or is there an other solution to get the FTP working ? Regards, Martin Koekenberg

List within a list - how to use in a page template

I am trying to get my head around representing a list in a page template. Assume the following list: >>>m [[61282125371L, 1, 6, 0], [61282125379L, 1, 6, 0], [61282825240L, 6, 6, 0], [61282125378L, 1, 6, 0], [61282125374L, 1, 6, 0] >>>m[0] [61282125371L, 1, 6, 0] >>> m[0][0] 61282125371L i.e. m is a list where each member is itself a list. How do I get a page template to render a particular item? Assume a function getem returns the list. <tal:block repeat="m python:here.getem()"> <td tal:repeat="single m" tal:content="single"></td> This code will produce four columns and five rows, with each populated by the list members. But what if I only want the first and third members in each case i.e. 2 columns and five rows? I thought it would be something like tal:content="python:single[0]" but that gives me an unsubscriptable object error. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cameron

First you need to read: http://www.plope.com/Books/2_7Edition/Acquisition.stx and: http://www.plope.com/Books/2_7Edition/BasicScripting.stx You would code your access to the zsql method in a python script. And I dont know why you mess with sessions anyway - if its a user, it has been logged in and you know his/her name via User API (also look into the book) I cant do it all for you :-) You will know how to read my example when your read the book chapters :-) My advice however is to stick to one connection and perhaps use the username as argument for housekeeping or whatever you do. Isn't it? No its not. Thats whe whole point. You can always look up context.somewhere[variable].yourzsqlmethods.yourzsqlmethod(params...) where variable holds the name of the connection folder. However, your approach isnt recommended even with small number of users your connections to the database will explode to zopethreads x users There was a thread about "per user connection" on this list. Maybe you can join the group of promoters and help the people? Regards Tino

Hi! in my zope application I call ZSQLMethods from python script. Is it possible to set "connection id" property of a ZSQLMethod before call it? How? where to put openflow in Zope3.1.0

HI Can somebody tell me where I have to put my openflow directory . I use Zope3.0.1. I abandoned mod_proxy for mod_rewrite. Security-wise, mod_rewrite had less to worry about (this is important when website administration changes hands). The sample configuration below shows how to handle Zope resource quirks and how to proxy requests to and from folders in Zope (both tested). The last rule is my guess at what "proxy everything to and from Zope" would look like (untested). [ANN] jsonserver 1.1.pre2 released (AJAX)

Jsonserver provides an alternative way of AJAX client-server communication on Zope. Jsonserver enables Zope to act as a JSON-RPC server. JSON-RPC is an XML-RPC replacement. It is built on JSON, a javascript based data interchange format. JSON has bindings for more languages. On the client side, the "jsolait" javascript library contains both JSON and JSON-RPC support, besides other utilities. Characteristics of this approach are: - You can bind methods in javascript to Zope methods, python scripts or page templates and call them up directly from javascript in a synchronous or asynchronous way (RPC). - Both the call parameters and the return value can be strings, unicode strings, instances of any other builtin python data type, or structures built with the combination of tuples, lists and dicts. These get marshalled transparently with JSON. - As a consequence there is no necessity to use XML to pass around structured data, you can just structure your data with python and pass it directly (but of course you also have the possibility to pass around XML). - Passing of both positional and keyword parameters allows to call up page templates with request parameters. - Full client compatibility with the Zope3 version of jsonserver, i.e. the same client code will be able to run on Zope2 and Zope3 without a change. This version, 1.1.pre2 is a pre-release and considered to be beta. It works pretty well but there are things that might need to change before the final release. It can be installed on Zope 2.7 and 2.8 (for 2.7 you need to install Five). It is compatible with Plone and can be used from it without restrictions.
