Zope CVS setup for .py files missing?

Howdy, today, I loaded the current Zope2 CVS tree and windiff'ed it against the current source release. Windiff, which is incapable to treat CR vs. CR/LF correctly, showed me lots of changes for many .py files, which were just non-adjusted line endings. Especially the Gadfly files were stiull in Unix format. AFAIK, this is a configuration option for the CVS server, which files are to be treated as text and which not. I run a win98 machine at home that has both dial-up networking (i.e., uses a modem to connect to a service provider) and also an ethernet card (not connected to a network). Both are bound to tcpip. When I point IE5 at Zope's address (Zope running on the same machine), I get the dial-up network requestor asking if I want to dial into the service provider. But if I cancel that or tell it to work offline, then I will connect to Zope correctly. On my previous computer, also running Win98, I did not have a network card. I had to connect to my service provider using dialup networking before I could connect to the web server on my own machine (I wasn't running Zope then). Apparently I had to connect to the service provider to get Windows to load the tcpip software. Typically, the page would compute what url to ask for at the client (i.e., in the user's web browser), using (most likely) javascript to figure it out based on the user's entries in the form. The server doesn't need to be involved at all. This is desirable. You don't need Zope, ASP, Cold Fusion, etc. for this. If you want to use Zope to perform the logic anyway, you can 1) have Zope return a page based on the form contents, or 2) have Zope insert different contents into the page to be returned, depending on the form's variables. Zope Components

Hello! Many times I saw a description of Zope: "Zope is free open-source web application platform..." I want to add two words here: "component-based" and "object-oriented". This sounds a little too buzzwords :) but I am pretty sure this describes Zope nature. While we are on the subject... I use ZTemplates outside of Zope with a great success. Tthere are a lot of documentation on how to use ZTemplates with Python. There are docs on using ZODB, although the docs seems very complex at first glance; may be it is because ZODB is really complex and powerful. In any case I'd prefer to have (along with complex and detailed) somewhat simpler docs with demos and examples. There are some words on using PCGI without Zope and with Python. PCGI Publisher looks simple enough to not need complex docs. But what about Aquisition? I saw some docs on Aquisition on Zope site, but cannot figure out how to use Aquisition with Python. creating a ZClass within a Product with Python

Hi folks, I hava a litte Problem. I have a Product written in Python, which inherits from ZClasses. Now I want to add a ZClass to the Product with Python. my first thougt was, to simply put "manage_addZclass(id)" in the Constructor, but nothing happened (no ErrorMessage, no ZClass was visible, when I clicked on the Product in the management screen) Does anybody have an idea how to do this. Or an url, where I can see an example. Thank you very much! Markus Jais

Can't rename a CatalogAware ZClass Instance

You'll need to build ZOracleDA on the Sun. For this, you'll need the Sun version of the oracle client libraries. I don't think Oracle make their client libraries available separately. Oracle's a bit more finicky, and wants a bunch of files in $ORACLE_HOME to be present before it will play nicely. At a minimum, you'll want $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora, and quite possibly a number of the $ORACLE_HOME/.../mesg/ directories.
