Hi. I'm just a newbie to Zope, but I really like it so far. Obvious drawbacks are lack of complete documentation. I've installed the KM|netNews product and really like it. It seems to have all of the neatest features of Zope - Zclasses, factories, product specification, Zcatalog, etc. Perhaps someone out there who is familiar with this product would be willing to create a tutorial explaining how this product "works"? Even a diagram of how the various parts interact would really help me (and others too) get a better understanding of the power of Zope. Anyone got a little free time???? Zooming images

Hi folks, I am working on a web aplication in which users must read a total of 12 cases and for each of them they have to choose an answer from the ones provided, i.e. multiple-choice test. I've followed the ZBook and I am using a similar structure but with a 'Cases' folder and then subfolders. ... /Cases (folder) index_html (DTML Doc) case (DTML Doc) /01 (folder) case_text (DTML Doc) Photos (folder) ... /12 (folder) case_text (DTML Doc) Photos (folder) ... The 'case' DTML document contains the formating and I will use it to render the page of the case to view like: /.../Cases/01/case 'case' will call 'case_text'. But there's a problem with this because the title appearing at the browser is always that of the object 'case'. So I have to do it like: ... /Cases (folder) index_html (DTML Doc) case_header (DTML Doc) case_footer (DTML Doc) /01 (folder) case_text (DTML Doc) Photos (folder) ... /12 (folder) case_text (DTML Doc) Photos (folder) ... And now when accessing /.../Cases/01/case_text 'case_text' will contain: -----------  text contents go here ...  ----------- I liked the first way thogh. Was I doing something wrong? The thing is this cases also contain photos. I would like users to be able to enlarge them. What is the 'Zope' way to do this? I mean, do I have to have two Image objects, small and large? Maybe I could make a function that given an Image object and a height and with parameters would return an Image object with the small image. Anybody knows of some code/docs where I could start? Zope chokes on beeeg XML exports

Zope chokes on an 5,5 MB XML export, but not when it's in ZEXP. Tried exporting both zexp and xml, and then importing both, only XML chokes. New to Zope....

... and totally lost into the depth... Hi, I´m struggling with Zope for a few days and so far it looks as it could do the job. But sometimes I feel like never used a (computer)-language before. It´s so different. Maybe I havn´t found the way to think for Zope... The Tutorials are a bit rare or too basic and the documentation is a bit theoretically (IMHO). My way to learn ist "learning by doing" but now I´t totally stuck (maybe its Zope or my brain...). I want to do a site with a title on every page in the different folders which differs only in one word (in real a graphic). So I thought of using a folder property which names this word. I include the title with <dtml-var Titel> and in there is a (html)table with the title and one is <dtml-var titel> where titel is the property of the folder. This property has the value which points to the correct graphic. Subclassing from homemade ZClass possible?

I've created ZClass Ant, and know I want to create ZClass Bee as a subclass of Ant. However, Ant does not show up in the list of possible base classes when I try to create Bee. So can I make a subclass of a ZClass?

Acquisition at initialization time

In its __init__() it depends on aquired attributes from the specific folder, which doesn't seem to be available... (I get an AttributeError). Zope Newbie

Hello, I am new to Zope. I can program in Python a little bit, Java fairly well, and C not at all. I have used FrontPage (hated it) and straight HTML in the past. All this introduction to say that I am not clueless, but I am not well-informed about Zope. I have played with it a little bit over the past week, lurked here for about 24 hours and skimmed through some of the online docs. What I would like to do is get a really good idea of what I can do with Zope and how to do it. I am not afraid of online docs. What I would like is a recommended reading list. Something to say you can do x, y, and Z with Zope, here is where you can find a brief description of x, y, and Z and here is where the in-depth docs can be found. Problems with inheritance in python base products

Hello, I want to design 2+ products which all share certain base functionality. So I moved some code into Shared. Now, when I try to create instances of the products I get the following error: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unbound method must be called with class instance 1st argument I use the following code: class B(A): def __init__(self, some, more, parameters): A.__init__(self, some, more) In my python knowlegde the above should be correct... Any hints... DTML document vs DTML Method

Hi everyone, I'm new to zope. I've been playing with it for a couple of days now, and like it a lot. One thing I want to check I have right is the difference between documents and methods. I have read a few articles, but none seem to address my question. When I have a dtml document rendered, and am viewing the page, I can click on a link, then click on back to go page to the page. When I have a dtml METHOD rendered, and am viewing the page, I can click on a link, but get an error (timeout like) when I click on back. I've also noticed that within a folder, I can refer to dtml methods in the folders above, but get an error when I try to refer to dtml documents. Is this due to my configuration, or are things supposed to happen this way? It would be great if any replies could be sent directly too tim_haines(a)hotmail.com as well as posted to the list.
