Setting edit form to default max width

Hello How can I make _all_ my Zope edit forms default to max width available in the browser frame/window? Where do I set these defaults? <constructive grumbling> The 'wider' 'narrower' buttons are cute at first glance, but frankly I find now they are a bloody nuisance. toomuch sapce, wrong position not enough functionality. There has to be a better way even using minmal HTML. Maybe I missed something here. Zope does not seem to remember the size I want so what's the point...? Beyond that I almost always want the maximum screen real estate available for edit forms when doing management stuff/test DTML. Is there a reason it is not always like this? ViewCVS for Zope?

A very cool thing over on python.org is the use of Greg Stein's freely available ViewCVS, written in Python, which allows you to web browse the CVS tree. http://www.python.org/download/cvs.html This makes all the public projects hosted at python.org available via the online repository. Couldn't this be used for the Zope CVS? BTW, for those who don't know, David Ascher is making nightly tarballs of the Zope CVS tree available on Starship (thanks David!).

ZSQL namespace

Hello, I tried to make some parts of a SELECT optional. The arguments list reads like: "arg1:int=0" The SQL statement is SELECT * FROM DATA <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-if arg1> <stml-sqltest arg1 type=int> </dtml-if> </dtml-sqlgroup> When I run the test of this ZSQL object it ALWAYS got a WHERE clause testing for arg1 like: SELECT * FROM DATA WHERE ARG1=0 I thought this could never happen, due to the if construct. When I change the if to <dtml-if "arg1 != 0"> the SQL generated is till the same as above. Any ideas? Of course! :-) ... :: The design of the Python.Org web site <www.python.org> is nearly two :: years old now, and while functionally it works very well, we're :: getting bored with it. We've decided that we're hackers, not web site :: designers so we thought we'd conduct a little contest: here's your :: chance to design the new Python.Org web site! Cool! :: Our requirements are: :: :: - Use the Zope 2.x platform. We're looking for both a Web site design :: and an application design. OK :: - We want the site to be at least as user friendly as the current site :: is. This means you should try to keep stuff like images to a :: minimum in order to help download times for people around the :: world. Yes :: - The look should be consistent throughout the whole site. Zope makes this easy. :: - We want it to be easy to delegate content management of parts of the :: site to "champions" selected from the Python community. A big goal :: of this whole effort is to make it easier for the rest of the :: community to share in the upkeep of the site. For that reason, it :: should be easy for these champions to make changes, upload new :: pages, etc. Tailor-made for Zope :: - It should be easy to import as much of the existing Python.Org :: content as possible. You should perhaps tell us about any special Python scripts you now have running to automate site updates, or whatever, that will need to be implemented. :: - Bonus points if your solution allows us to include a redesigned :: JPython.Org site as a virtual domain. OK. This may determine whether to use a straight ZServer approach or ZServer with Apache. An Apache-free, 200 Proof Zope site (straight ZServer) would win more coolness points (and be slightly simpler to set up), but ZServer (Medusa) doesn't grok virtual hosts. OTOH, you could maintain two discrete Linux or FreeBSD servers rather simply, if you have the budget for separate boxen. Or you can do Apache + FastCGI + Zserver, to allow virtual hosting. You should probably mull this over and decide this early on, since it will affect the initial design planning.

How can folder address its contents?

I want to iterate over the contents of a folder. I can't do it by name, since items will be added and taken out of the folder at run time, so I don't know what they'll be called. I think I'll figure out the iteration ok, but how do I get at the objects contained in a folder, other than by name? -- . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Bob Erb . . I don't want to die today!

Strange DateTime Error

Hi All. Came across this error on a Zope install that had been up for 9+ days. The page has rendered flawlessly hundreds of times over several months and then tonight kept retunrning this error. I could find no solution, until I restarted the Zope instance and everything returned to working normally. Disk space is fine, Zope memory usage normal etc. I've got some more info on the error returned (the full request etc.) if that would help anybody, or if it matters at all. ANNOUNCE: ZRTChat 0.2.0

Announcing 0.2.0 version of HTML ('Realtime') Chat for Zope (ZRTChat). There are minor incompatibilities with the old versions, so don't install it if you have a previous version chat in progress. The big incompatibility difference is that instance variables were renamed because variable names like 'user' and 'message' are too popular and acquire too easily in unexpected ways. Major Changes: The user controls were moved off the message pane and into their own frame, so they don't get reloaded with every refresh. There is now an icon for the messages in the contents page. Users may choose to see 5 or 10 messages in addition to the previous 25, 50, 75, and 'all'. Viewing the messages in reverse order is now user-selectable. Submitting a message refreshes the chat pane immediately; no need to push 'refresh' to see if it went out. I think there are a couple of other things, so look at the changes page. Still no java/javascript. Still the same Marilyn Monroe grin icon. I have been told: "As you know Vignette Story Server uses TCL/Ticle as its Proprietary Scripting Language & which allows PL/SQL Procedure Calls to the Oracle DB, Since the latest version of PL/SQL supports the Virtual Table/Row manipulation, which reduces the I/O time consumtion & deadlock Situations, also PL/SQL procedure allows higher volume of data manipulation with in the Cursors itself" Does ZOPE support this kind of procedureal access to the Oracle DB?. Another dumb problem

I've uploaded the Solaris version to my web server. When I use tar xvf Zope-2.1.0-solaris-2.6-sparc.tgz, I get an error: tar: directory checksum error Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Next problem will be getting fastcgi working with Apache. Can anyone point me to any archives or hints as to what I need. My web host does provide fastcgi support, but only in that they have it on the server. Thanks (and sorry for asking such dumb questions)!
