FreeBSD : anyone else noticed kernel "table full" errors when Zope is installed ? Zope is installed ?

I have 4 almost identical servers : - FreeBSD 3.2 - MySQL - Apache 1.3.6 All were running various websites using CGI scripts. All were stable and have more than sufficient resources. I've since installed Zope on 3 of them and all 3 in question have subsequently started throwing up the following kernel log messages as soon as Zope is installed (running on the backend of Apache) : > file: table is full > file: table is full > file: table is full > file: table is full > file: table is full This is easily resolved by increasing the MAXUSERS in the kernel but what worries me is that I should even need to do this. One of the boxes was handling 2 million hits per day last month without creating these kernel errors. I am tempted to assume that this is all due to Zope because the correlation is so strong - run Zope and these errors occur, don't run zope and don't get any. Even for one of the servers that is still offline with zero traffic. Has anyone else experienced this on FreeBSD ? Any reason why this might be Zope-induced ? cheers, chas

Zope, Emacs, and IDEs

Seeing all the traffic on the Zope mailing-list in reference to WYSIWYG editors brought me to wonder a few things (please excuse me if these are redundant questions, but I haven't found any info on them..). * I hear it's possible to edit Zope objects (DTML, etc.) from within Emacs. Is this possible? And if so, is there any way to configure syntax highlighting and do formatting? This honestly would be the only editing tool I need. Is there info on this anywhere? * If it is possible to use Emacs, then what about other text editors? The TEXT form on the browser management screen just isn't what I need when I'm on the server machine. How about using something like the GtkEditor widget wrapped either in PyGTK or WxWindows/Python, where you can have a slim text IDE that can edit, format, and highlight Zope objects, HTML, XML, and python code. Something like Homesite, without all the fluff :-). * Any other ideas, suggestions? I'm building a Zope-based project (called CIS), and would like to eventually integrate some development/administration tools along with the system, that are easy to use yet remain flexible. Issues like these are top on the list of getting other developers to help, so I'd like to find out some options. Thanks in advance. Eron

newbie : dtml-document properties ?

Is there a list of standard document properties anywhere ? ( title_or_id , title, id , bobobase_modification_time etc.. ) I bang my head against the wall every day, trying to find the names of standard variables within DTML-methods and documents, and have searched all over to find some reference to this... Accessing Zope DA connection from external method

Jpenny wrote a little how-to about accessing ZSQL Method from External Method. This has really whetted my appetite. At the moment, my external methods create and destroy their connections to the database whenever they are called. This can potentially be expensive when scaling up. Can anyone point out how do I reference a Zope DA Connection from an external method. This way I can make use of an existing open connection instead. Thanks in advance Chui

comparing variables from different name spaces?

Hello ALL, How do i compare variables from two different namespaces? In my current situation I need to check if my current path is in some directory tree. For example lets say I have folders /test/dir1 /test/dir2 /test/dir3 In these folders there are alot more other folders, so when i currently am in for example /test/dir2/hardware/prices/index_html the script should check in which of those 3 root folders (dir1, dir2 or dir3) am i. Now lets look at the part of /test/dir2/hardware/prices/index_html source: <dtml-with test> <dtml-in "objectValues(['Folder'])">  </dtml-in--> </dtml-with--> Ok, so in this case i have a loop in which i go through ids of all folders in /test/ but now how do I check test's subfolder's id is PARENT of my current /test/dir2/hardware/prices/ folder? I think the easiest way would be- <dtml-if dir2> but that has to be done only from /test/dir2/hardware/prices/ names pace which (i think) I have already lost with <dtml-with test>. So how do I compare the older name space's variable with newer one's? I also tried some tricks with <dtml-with blah only> but with no success. creating a new file type based on content-type

Umm.. the message title sort of says it all. I'd like to create a ZClass that represents a certain binary file type (in this case, MS Project .MPP files). I'd like to present the user with the "File" object upload form, but once the submit button is pressed, I'd like the file registered not as a generic "File" but as an "MS Project File" (Zope would tell it is an MS Project file based on its content-type as sent by the remote browser, sort of like it determines if a file is actually an image or an HTML document now). Files uploaded would inherit all the management screens of the MS Project File ZClass... Is this heavy voodoo? (Duh, of course it is, otherwise I wouldn't be asking)... Can anyone give me some ideas of what to change within the Zope source to do this?
