Sorting of objectValues within python script

Hi, one question again that I could not find neither in the mailing list nor in the ZopeBook: I have a list of ZODB objects, collected by using objectValues. How can I sort this list by the id? is this SortEx? how can I access SortEx? from within python script? --- I think we dream so we don't have to be apart so long. URL rewrite + cache question.

Hi people, I have a quite complex URL rewriting question, I don't even know if it can be done, I'll *really* appreciate any opinion on this. I'm building some multilingual structure, I have a "Translate" product, that works like this: if I visit http://zopesite/a/b/c and the language is "en" it tries to get content (text and images) from /a/b/c/en, where en is an instance of this "translate" product. If there no such dir it gets the content from /a/b/c/ This way the mantainer can just add a "translate" wherever he wants to translate that folder content, and you can even translate "images", and don't have to rebuild the whole tree structure, just translate what you want. the language is passed via cookies and the first time is called with ?lang=en, GET syntax. The problem is that if I cache the pages there's no way to distinguish a/b/c in english from a/b/c in french, and the wrong pages come up. So I would like to add the language to the url (and would look nicer too). solution 1) use addresses like http://zopesite/a/b/c/en http://zopesite/a/b/c/fr, ... I should check if the meta_type=="translate" and call the previous dir with the correct language but if there's no "fr" translation for this folder, how can fall back to http://zopesite/a/b/c/ ? I could create some base /fr/ directory that would be seen via acquisisiton, but how can I stop the user from creating some fr/ folder that masks the root one? solution 2) addresses like http://zopesite/en/a/b/c http://zopesite/fr/a/b/c, but I want to maintain my structure where the translation goes inside the "last" folder, not double the site structure. so the rewriting would be http://zopesite/en/a/b/c -> http://zopesite/a/b/c?lang=en or the language could be passed inside REQUEST. the fact is that there are no a/b/c inside en/, it would be just an url trick. I can't do this with apache because I have to check that en/ is a real "translate" instance. this solution would be the best because the user could still create its own en,fr,es,... folders. newbie application design question

I would like to create a basic application using Zope. Some of the functionality I need to build is as follows: - input person details (using formulator form 'form_person') - input product purchased details (using formulator form 'form_prod') - input payment details (using formulator form 'form_payment') - write all details to mysql (using BDB tables) within one transaction, i.e. begin insert into person ... insert into product_purchase ... insert into payment ... commit How can I maintain persistence of the data collected in the three separate forms and then save the data to the database in the one transaction? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Chris Snow PS. My knowledge of Zope so far is from reading the excellent Zope Book.

If you register an API help topic Zope will not only recognize classes but interfaces in the .py file. You don't have to do anything special just use context.registerHelp() in your product's initialization function. The relevant code is in HelpSys/APIHelpTopic.py BTW, in the future, I think all API docs should be done with interfaces. You can use apache rewrite rules when virtual hosting Zope instances and as far as I know, it works just the same as having a direct conection to the Zope Instance... Unlike proxying, the zope instance should reply directly to the client so it must have access to their ip address.... There is some documentation about, but this is an extract of what we use... The Zope instance has a Virtual Host Monster in its root to enable all this to work properly. One possible reason your having so many problems could be the change of Python Version?? I'm not sure about this, but in your situation I would certainly check... I have only used the MySQLda and ZMySQL database products but when you install the MySQLda for python you have to compile it using python setup.py build and so on... Of course this assumes that the python you want to use is called python, in my case its called python2.1. If you are having major problems with things that compile, I'd check how your python versions are configured and make sure that your using the correct version... Other than that, well, I'm sure someone who knows more of zope will have more ideas :-) Good luck ChrisK
