For some reason, it doesn't work (at least for my ZClass, which subclasses ZCatalog:CatalogAware, and OFS:Folder), with code like: container.manage_addProduct['Classifieds'].AdFolder_add(...) I can't seem to publish 'Classifieds' - I get an AttributeError in Product.py for 'Classifeds'. Classifieds is a product created (only) within the ODB and contains a few ZClasses. The thing that seems strange is that this technique works fine for OFS:Folder: container.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFolder(...) I feel fairly confident that if the container.manage_addProduct['Classifieds'] namespace could be published (shouldn't it be able to be seen?), that I would have no problem calling its constructor this way. I agree with Tim. First, splitting the list would mean that we would have to monitor more groups. Second, I have learned a lot from the more sophisticated uses simply by keeping up with this list-group and I doubt the newbie list would be nearly as rich as the current list. Third (although I don't do it enough) I can help the newbies with those basic questions that I used to ask and in some small way contribute to the group. It is that last (important if not crucial) input that makes this list so attractive to the new users and thus enables them to get up the rather steep learning curve that Zope offers. mysql trouble

hi there, after updating a SuSE 7.1 installation (mysql 3.22.32 to 3.32.30) i get the error message at the bottom of this email. Zope 2.3.0 (binary release, python 1.5.2, linux2-x86) ZMySQLDA-1-2-0 MySQLdb-0.1.2 the crazy thing is, 1. if i access the database with the mysql command line client i have no trouble (about 200 rows) on both win and SuSE, 2. if i access the old database on a win system i can do that, but i get no rows back (through the test tab) 3. if i downgrade the mysql on the SuSE system to the old one i have the same trouble as in (2). i also tried to upgrade to build MySQL-python-0.3.5 and get errors i have no clue about what they are saying (on the bottom of this message. i tried to fix this for about 100 hours over time and should really get that fixed so help is very appreciated :-) thanks in before olaf error message --------------------------------------- Remarks for Errortracking (Please pass this information to your support) Error Type: BadRequest Error Value: Invalid connection string: ipOperate user password Error URL: http://sino/ip/translations.db/manage_edit Error Message: Invalid connection string: ipOperate user password Error Absolute URL: http://sino/ip/translations.db The URL may be incorrect. Hi Jerome, I am not sure whether it was you with whom I discussed a similar problem? Some days ago, I saw a similar post: &dtml.url-login; raised an "Unauthorized" exception, when the user did not have "View" permission. I could reproduce a problem when the user had not "Access Contents Information", but the "View" permission was not necessary. Same for your problem (I am using ZopeCVS, about 10 days old): "has_permission" requires "Access Contents Information" for its object attribute (a bug in my view), but no 'View' permission. relative URLs; please check my solution

Hi there, to give users the possibility to use relative URLs in Zope products like HTMLDocument, I set the BASE URL in standard_html_header to <base url="http://www.server.uni-bielefeld.de/">. Now I can use relative links. Before doing this, it was not possible to link from a subfolder to a document in the parent folder (e.g. test.html) with ../test.html. The reason for this was the 'base url' generated by Zope with a slash after each file name: <base href="http://www.server.uni-bielefeld.de/test.html/"> ^^^ Do I run in trubble with the solution? Wrong example in default ZClass constructors?

Hi all, playing around with the creation of ZClasses, I noticed that the examples given in the comments of the contructor method for new ZClasses will partly not work. I have now figured out how to get things going, but I would like your thoughts on this before reporting it. Usually, things that I find are wrong are working smoothly and it was only me who has misunderstood ;-) Here goes: the default constructor method uses the following: <dtml-with "TestClass.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> and suggests to change the new instance like this: <dtml-call "propertysheets.Basic.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> within the <dtml-with> part. I see two problems with that: 1.) the <dtml-with> should use the 'mapping' attribute. Otherwise, neither 'propertysheets' nor 'REQUEST' are available as used in the example. 2.) Even with the mapping, I get a name error for 'Basics'. This is probably due to the line being an example only. I am not very deep into ZClasses so far, perhaps someone can set me right here. I used the following, which did fine: <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(REQUEST)"> but changed it to <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(title=REQUEST['title'])"> so that no random request parameters change unwanted properties. Problems calling directory

I have a zclass which defines articles with a 'location' field. (ie. location = 'Portal.Publications.Review'). My problem is that the articles are located in a certain area but need to show in the 'location' specified.
