Help me !!! Problems installing Zope Perl !!!

Hi everybody, I'm looking for help 'cause I have no idea on what's wrong. I'm trying to install Zope Perl on Windows following andym's How-To, but I have some problems. When I run this command: D:\Temp\pyperl-1.0.1\Python-Object>perl makefile.pl I obtain this output: Picking up pyton include files from "C:\Programmi\Zope\bin\include" Checking if your kit is complete... Looks good Note (probably harmless): No library found for '../perlpyd.lib' Writing Makefile for Python::Object It doesn't find perlpyd.lib, is it normal? And more, it's really harmless? Anyway, it makes the makefile, but when I run this command: D:\Temp\pyperl-1.0.1\Python-Object>nmake install this is the result: ... ... ... Help with drill down SQL queries

Hi, Rather than reinvent the wheel, I'll ask here to see if anyone has done this before. I'd like to have an SQL query return data that I will display in a table format. Lets say this will include columns such as Customer Number, Order Number, Part Number, etc. I would like to add "drill down" capabilities to this by having each cell in a column be a link to another query/result table that uses the cell contents as a parameter for the query. For example, if the Customer column displays each customer number as a link, I could get a page showing all orders placed by this customer by clicking on that customer's link in this table. I would like the solution to be generalized so a developer/designer can indicate which columns in the result should have "links" turned on. For example, if I click on the Customer Number link in this table, I get a page with another table listing customer order numbers, dates, totals, etc. and the Order Number column in that table has "links" turned on so I can click an order number link and get another table showing complete details for that order. ( And then click on a Part Number, to get details of the product ...) This sounds simple. Format the contents of the column as a link and call another predefined query object with the cell contents as a parameter. But, I haven't really worked with SQL queries in Zope and I'm not sure where to start. I have successfully installed the DCOracle2 product (and similar MySQL) and have the test queries working. I am also reading the Relational Database chapter of the Zope Book. Oracle's WebDB product does this, and we are looking to work completely within Zope as much as possible. We will be querying Oracle 8 databases mostly, but will also like to use this with MySQL (and PostgreSQL). Cheers, Mark

Hah! Rookie mistake, I guess. No, I hadn't highlighted them, so I guess my new user had no permissions. I assumed since the "Manager" and "Owner" entries showed up in the list that the new user had those permissions by default. can't log in using user/manager account

Hello I am able to log in to my zope server using the administrator account, but not as a regular user. I added several users, and my authentication always fails. I don't think it's something dumb like "caps lock key on", etc. I'm running Zope with apache webserver on Freebsd. At the very least, what logs should I be looking at? I don't see any mention of authentication failures in the apache logs or in /var/log/messages. Please help if you have a clue how to fix this! I really want to figure it out so I can use this! (Looks cool so far) Thanks!

(Script) Python needs xmlrpclib

There are magical things beyond my control happening - security mechanisms. As this is a security issue and there is no way (that I know) around it -- its that much more frustrating. 99% of sane people, in development - would like to turn MOST security restrictions off. Is there a way to tell Guard.py, "down boy!" ?? dealing with BEA Weblogic (which relies on Java's security model) -- there are the same issues. but you can basically tell the Java Security model allow_what_god_shouldnt_be_able_to_do. please someone shed light on this. it seems no one I run across understands how to do this (use External Method, is the response I get) or anything about the new security model of ZOPE. -- which *appears* to be understandable and sane. NOTE: External Methods (which are what most people use, I would bet) have 0 security mechanism. that is why they are so powerful. ZOPE preaches TTW. DB incomatibility between 2.3.0 and 2.3.2

Hi, I was just playing around with databases from Zope 2.3.0 and 2.3.2, trying to exchange them at once and also trying to export and import *.zexp from one to another and I keep running into errors. Is there a known incompatibiliy between 2.3.0 and 2.3.2 DBs? The error seems to come from ZCatalogs. If I delete the ZCatalogs and build them up new from hand the DBs work.
