Count of all objects within a container

Hey all, I'm trying to get a count of all image objects within an images folder. The basic idea is to be able to use this count within an HTML table so I can format some rowspans. This bit of code will allow me to simply drop an image in, and the code will take care of generating my navigation bar. Here's the problem. I want a count of images in the Images_naviagtion folder. By a manual count, I see 11. The code that I wrote is: <dtml-with Images_navigation> <dtml-in objectValues> <dtml-var sequence-length> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> Now this gives me the correct answer of '11', but it gives it to me 11 times as well (most likely because if the dtml-in statement). How do I get it to just give me the correct answer ONCE? Thanks in advance, Tommy

Python also has nntplib http://python.org/doc/current/lib/module-nntplib.html That might be helpful to you. There is a very good nntp library delivered with python. You can use it in an external method or - if you want better performance - write a product. Boolean dtml redux

I'm sorry to post about this *again*, but I have still gotten no answer that works. I've spent a week now, changing the same 3 lines to various permutations, and none of the suggestions has worked. So, here again: <dtml-in expr="_[foldername].objectValues()" sort="bobobase_modification_time" reverse> <dtml-unless "_['id']=='index_html'"> <li> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>"><dtml-var title></a><br> Maintained by <dtml-var maintainer missing="No maintainer">. <br><dtml-var description missing="No description."> Last revision date <dtml-var version_date missing="unknown">. </dtml-unless> </dtml-in> The problem: I need to change the line <dtml-unless "_['id']=='index_html'"> so that it's "unless the object boolean index_hide property is true for the particular object". I've had several suggestions; whenever I use them, they either have no effect at all, or they work such that the file listing is completely blank if *any* file in the folder has the index_hide property set. Suggestions? Please assume *no* programming. It doesn't help to make vague suggestions, as I have plenty of those and they don't seem to be helping. I'm looking for *exact* syntax of a line that would replace that one problem line. Thanks! sorting a SQL result set

Hi, I'm sure somebody has done this before and knows the answer :-) A user can search a MySQL database using an extensive form of over 30 fields. The result is displayed in a 5 col list with column headings. I want to be able to allow sorting (asc and desc) on these columns. To sort on any column the query has to be executed again with the relevant order clause. As there can be over 30 fields in the original query what would be the best way to save and then restore the query? Does it make sense to try and load the result into a list object before displaying and from then on work with the list object when sorting? I hope the above makes sense. Any help greatly appreciated. Acquisition question (run for the hills!)

OK, I've read the acquisition HOW-TOs, and either I'm dense or I didn't find the answer to my question. I have a setup like this: /main header localTitle /sub localTitle index_html header includes dtml-var localTitle. index_html includes dtml-var header. Why doesn't header pull /sub/localTitle instead of /localTitle when it is included by /sub/index_html? :-) Thanks in advance, -scott

Zserver Broken pipe error

Once or twice a day I am getting this error reported by ZServer. Any ideas what may be causing it? Will ZEO solve my problem?

[This is a terribly fuzzy question/situation. I'm looking for insight/suggestions, not guarantees.] We've been migrating everything we do to Zope for the past few months. We are just starting to get buy-in and funding for equipment. Already, however, we have lots of people using our Zope server which is hosted on a dual P-850 I was able to hijack for the purpose. (I found that the Sun E450 I had available was way too slow.) We're planning to split things up into a cluster that consists of multiple HTTPS proxies, some ZEO clients, a ZEO server and a hot ZEO server spare. Until then, I need to make the current system usable. (We have all of our Heads and Deans using ZWiki Pages to put together our strategic plan.) The problem we've been encountering is that every so often (several times a day) the server goes nuts and I end up restarting it. I can watch "top" and see a single python process take all of one CPU time for an extended period. I've been unable to determine from the logs (and the server-status of the HTTPS proxy) what's causing this to happen. Because we have so many applications running on this host, the traditional debugging methods I've seen don't seem to (easily) apply. Since I'm going to use ZEO eventually, I thought I would try it this week to see if it helps with this problem. At least I should be able to move the problem to either the ZEO server or client. If it ends up in the ZEO client (as I suspect it will), I can use the front-end proxy to route requests to other ZEO clients while I restart the one that's spinning. I can also restart the spinning ZEO client quickly. If it's in the ZEO server, I'm still screwed. I have been avoiding packing the database (so that I have the history and ability to undo some of the actions), so it takes awhile to start up. Any thoughts? Is there a way to tell exactly what a process is doing (in Zope/Python terms)? I just need a clue where to start looking.
