virtual server problem

Hi, I just tried to use VirtualHostMonster in Zope 2.5.1b1 for a setup that is quite common at our clients. Let me first explain the setup. We use Apache with mod_rewrite and mod_proxy to access the Zope server. Zope provides typically multiple virtual servers. To be able to manage the Zope server itself we always define an additional virtual server 'z' that is located at the root of the Zope server itself: z.do.main --> mapped to / a.do.main --> mapped to /a.do.main b.do.main --> mapped to /b.do.main With VHM I was not able to provide the mapping for 'z' because VHM insists on having a path. So I installed a SiteRoot for z as always. The result was, that the VHM mapping for a and b were broken. The use of absolute_url() inside of a and b always gives urls located in z (even they were wrong). I would like to use VHM because of it's centralizing of management - is there a way to get a VHM-only solution for our setup? At the moment we use a SiteRoot at the top and virtual site roots for a and b. To avoid questions: No, we cannot access the Zope server directly from the outside. Regards, Frank

How to insert objects

e.g.: I have a directory structure like root +-test +-test2 i have a dtml-method in the root called index_html i have a dtml-method in test called myinput How can i insert myinput in the index_html ? I need a kind of <dtml-var myinput> but including the path to test. I know the other way around would work, as the namespaces could coope with that. Thanx Dorian

Log severity without stupid log file?

I want to start Zope (2.3.3) with a log severety of 0 but I'm not using stupid log file, but just loggin to stdout (this is Windows). How do I do this? Using -D makes it write out everything including debug info, which I don't want. Not using -D means it only writes out errors, and not INFO level logs. I want something in the middle, ans STUPID_LOG_SEVERITY obviously doens't work. So what now?

Dieter: Could you explain a little more I still seem to be trying to input everything all on one record. I need to break out in an array then each needs to be added to the database as a separate record. Maybe I missed something. I've tried to > no luck. Can anybody help? Some basic observations: ZSQL Method bodies are DTML objects. You use DTML there to generate SQL in the same way you use DTML usually to generate HTML. Especially, you have the "dtml-in" in order to iterate over sequences. A ZSQL Method can generate and execute several SQL commands. These commands need to be separated by "<dtml-var sql_delimiter>". Thus, you use something like: <dtml-in options> insert into ... <dtml-unless sequence-end><dtml-var sql_delimiter></dtml-unless> </dtml-in> You need to be a bit careful with your options in the form. It should probably contain something like: <input type="hidden" name="options:list" value="dummy"> ... <input type="checkbox" name="options:list" value="..."> ... The hidden variable ensures that you always get something for options. The ":list" ensures that the case of a single option leads to a list as well as multiple options. When you use the hidden variable approach as shown above, then your options list contains a bogus first element. You need to drop it again. The "dtml-in options" above becomes 'dtml-in expr="options[1:]"'. MASS IMPORT ?

Hi, i have a big problem. I must import many doc files (ms word). Can i put the files over FTP to ZOPE ? Can ZOPE convert them to HTML ? As result i need a DTML Document. My other question is: when i upload images over ftp the zope server gives them the name as id (id="mark.gif"). How could i tell zope to give the "title" property the same content.

Jonathan, what browser are you using? I have run into problems trying to use a context object with Internet Explorer 5.0, and I vaguely recall being unable to do a context.manage_addProduct from that browser. FYI: Found a solution!!!!
