banging my head here... <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties(hits=hits+1)"> is in a method I have looked at aq, self(), id(), etc., but nothing works. Explicitly calling the Document, works, <dtml-call "myDoc.manage_changeProperties(hits=hits+1)"> but I need to script it... Thanks for the hint. -Trevor

Accessing Control_Panel from DTML?

I'm trying to access Control_Panel from within a DTML Method, but it refuses to acknowledge the existence of Control_Panel... <dtml-with Control_Panel> <dtml-with "_.Control_Panel"> <dtml-with "this().Control_Panel"> Hints? Not possible? I can access other items in the app (root) folder, no problems. Richard

Xron method's tabs

Hi everybody, I've just installed the Xron product and created a Xron Method, first scheduled some hours ahead, and to be rescheduled after a day. When I tried the tabs in order to test it, it worked through the "view" tab, but failed (or did not get executed) when I used the "trigger" tab. Any help on what the "view" and the "trigger" tabs do will be greatfuly apreciated. (coudln´t find any doc beside the (same) add and edit help topics). Thanks in advance, Pablo.

Authentication wierdness

I have a setup like this Zope 2.43 running on Linux: / acl_users (standard Zope) PrivatFolder acl_users (LoginManager) I also created a product MySite, with the ZClasses MyFolder and MyDocument. When I now do PrivatFolder/manage The LoginForm of LoginManager pops up, I can loggin as user "test" who has the role manager. I get the ZMI for this level I see that I am logged in as "test". I can add a DTML method for example. But when select MyDocument from the products to add, the Authentication box from the root pops up. When I cancel this I get the error message (since I am using ZDebug): Unauthorized: User Anonymous User is not allowed to access PrivatFolder/MyDocument_factory ... The user, whose roles are ('Anonymous',), would need to have one of the following roles: ('Manager',) So why I am the Anomyos User in this case, when the ZMI shows that I am logged in as test. Who has the role Manager. I have used Python 2.2 code (with smtplib) before from my winnt 4 machine to do a mailing. It was without problems. But this is not the mailhost code. Do you mean: directly in python something like: import mailhost and figure out from code what to do? Probably this is what Chris tries to explain with the pdb message? Ok. Yes, sending an email with <dtml-sendmail> cost in both 2.4.3 and 2.5.0 about 20 seconds on the two NT machines. So i have DNS lookup problems that became the cause of the slow authentication popup box, Chris was right from the start. Chris advised me to try the debugger. I'll do that, it's new for me. But at the moment i am terribly tired. Thank you for all of your interest and help. You are helping even when you think it is a somewhere DNS-configuration error and not a Zope problem!

MailHost broken because of Python 2.1.2 and socket

Hi. I have a problem with Zope 2.4.4b and Python 2.1.2: Using the Mailhost doesn't work, because the smtplib failes on using the socket with the function "sendall", which is documented in the python 2.1.2 docs to be available. But checking with a dir(socket) shows me that there is no such function. Do you have any hints for me? upgrade to python 2.2

Hi, I am using Suse Linux 7.0, Python 1.5.2, Zore 2.3.2 and would like to upgrade to python 2.2 . Will I be able to do so without rebuilding my Zope? Do I have to remove my old python first? slow authentication popup in 2.5.0: dtml-sendmail in standard_error_message on winnt 4

Removing it from the standard_error_message makes the authentication popup show immediately. In 2.4.3 the <dtml-sendmail> is not causing a pauze in the authentication popup to show. I took a different machine, also a windows nt 4.0 machine. The same. Then i tested it on our production server (don't tell my boss). That is a windows 2000 machine. There the problem does not show up. Ah, could it be OS dependent? Another windows 2000 machine No problem A windows 95 machine. It took 8 seconds for the authentication popup to show, without the sendmail it popped up immediately. Why would a sendmail in an error_message cause the authentication popup to wait for 25 seconds to show up,? even in the case that there is a misconfiguration of ..things.. I don't see the connection Is it OS related? It seems to be. Suggestions for more tests?
