errors with Page Templates

Hello, I am working on a site with Zope 2.5.1, CMF 1.3beta1, and Plone 0.9.9. I accidentally installed older versions of some Page Templates and TAL things and overrwrote the ones that came with 2.5.1 and now my site won't work properly. Is there a way to reinstall the Zope components without having to redo all of the content? Re-post of a roles problem: please help

Sorry for the repost, I desperately need help on this and any help would be greatly appreciated. The problem being that I have a custom User Folder loosely based on mysqluserfolder, without the cookies and session stuff, for that I use Cookie Crumbler and CST. Otherwise the code is pretty much the same with modifications to suit my purposes. Now lets say I have a user with role "X". I set up a folder that is veiwable only be ppl with role X via the security tab. When I try to view it, zope refuses entry to me. When I do a AUTHENTICATED_USER.getRoles or _.SecurityGetUser().getRoles() I get alist that has Authenticated User, Anonymous and X in it. I looked up and walked through the validate function in my UF and printed out roles just before it calls authorize and the list of roles is the same there too. My authorize function is the following: authorize__roles__ = () def authorize (Self, user, roles, REQUEST): v = REQUEST ['PUBLISHED'] # the published object a, c, n, v = Self._getobcontext(v, REQUEST) allowed = AccessControl.User.BasicUserFolder.authorize (Self, user, a, c, n, v, roles) if not allowed: return None else: return user Its essentially the same as in mysqluserfolder. The authorize() function in my UF also seems to be letting me (allowed = 1) in if I have the right role but I still get kicked out. As I said I am using Cookie crumbler and CST (I dont think this has anything to do with it) So who is kicking me out?? If my UF says I am cool and I have the right roles why am I getting kicked out?? Any pointers. DB2: accumulating db-connections

Hi, We're using ZDB2DA as an interface to DB2 and we're experiencing the problem that the connections from zope to the database seem to be increasing over time. So from time to time i have to reset all connections. Has anybody seen similar behaviour with this or other database adapters? Any solutions? Thanks in advance! Stephan

getting a zope site to run on windows 2000

Hello, I just started working on a Zope site (Zope 2.5.1, CMF 1.3beta1, Plone 0.9.9, Windows 2000) for my thesis project. I am not sure how to set up IIS so that the static IP URL will point to the Zope site. Can you explain how to do this properly? Thanks for the reply... this actually turned out to be a different problem altogether. I had suspected at first that the newline character was causing invalid xml but it seems to be something else. I have a python script that transforms the results of a zsql method into xml. The script builds the xml in a python string and returns that string as the scripts output. The problem I have is that the string contains a newline character (\n) which corrupts the xml. I made sure to strip the string before it's returned... XML = XML.strip() return XML ... but the output always contains the newline character. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could fix this? Thanks, Jon

timeout on external methods?

I have a page in Zope which calls a Perl script via an External Method. The perl script takes a long time to complete -- about 8 minutes. After exactly 5 minutes, I see a second perl process launched by Zope. At 8 minutes, the first perl process completes, but I do not see the response in my browser. After 10 minutes, I get "This page cannot be displayed" in my browser, but the second perl process is still running. Does Zope have a timeout that is causing it to re-try the perl script after 5 minutes? Is this adjustable?

FTP and Object Type

When I upload a file to Zope via ftp, it seems to decide automatically the object type. Is there any way to dictate what object type should be used for all files uploaded to a specific folder? Thanks, Chris Bruce

Xindice, Zope, Formulator, ideas ???

Hi all, I installed this week apache's XML database Xindice with XML-RPC plugin. I have running also a Zope version with XML-RPC python library. I want to combine Xindice and Zope. I thought that Formulator would be a good idea for a base of input for new and changable fields. I'm looking forward for any ideas in this scope and want to discuss the possibilities.
