zope freezes/halts after loading initial page

Zope Dies Mysteriously After A Few Days. How Do I Investigate Zope's Death?

My new goodbyejim.com site runs Zope 2.6 and Python 2.1 on Redhat 7.3 It uses Squishdot. Ever since I fired the site up a few weeks ago it has been dying mysteriously every few days. When I look in the var/Z2.log file there is no evidence that anything went wrong. If I then run the stop script it says that Zope is not running. I can then always restart Zope using the start script without problem. If I run the uptime Unix command I find that the Linux box itself has been running without problem. exUserFolder writing on ZODB

Hi! We recently switched to an exUserFolder+MySQL authenticating system because we wanted to avoid user information to be written on ZODB. The problem is that now when a user signs in (above 4000 users) something is being written in the ZODB, (I see it in /manage_UndoForm ) what is exactly what we were trying to avoid... Any switch has to be activated or configured? Any hint will be appreciated. Catch Creation of new objects

Hello, I am able to catch modification of Zope-Standard-Objects with a monkey-patch (look at "[Zope]Catch Object Changes" from 2003-11-28 and following mails). Is there a possibility to catch Objects that are created at the moment ...? If I create Objects they seem not to be commited, otherwise I would get them with my monkey-patch. -- Thanks, Holger

help with an application folder based

Dear Zopers, I'm developing a little application which is folder based. I have this structure: / - |- Folder1 |- Folder2 and so on. Each folder is "managed" by a responsable. A costumer come in, choose which folder (department) want to submit a request, and does its request. The request (a folder with property set with the input data contained in the dept folder he choosed) has to: - be seen only by the costumer when he came back and the responsable of that dept. - be edited only by folder responsable and created by the costumer - be seen by a global manager, which can read and write all the depts and do statistics. Is there a similar product? I want to write it, what should I do? (security settings, which roles...) For example, I use the owner of the object to see to which customer the object belongs. Is it ok? Dynamic Update SQLs like in Delphi

Hello ! In Delphi I have a my own created mechanism what help me to do less code/error, and more performance in database/dataset handling. The technology is that: 1./ When I open a table with TDataSet.Open method, then it was generate updatesql array, and updatesql components. 2./ It is cache the modifications. 3./ In apply it is process the cache, and rewrite modifications in RW transaction. It is same with TClientDataSet class, but enhanced. When I was write an site in php, I rewrite this mechanism in php, and it is working good. Ok, but in this time I want to port it to Zope. In the 1./ the code is like this: a.) Get table name from SQL b.) Get the pyhisical fields of the table -> filter (omit) the another table fields, exmp: joined/grouped/etc. c.) Get a key fields from parameter, or the first field. d.) Generate SQL for INS/DEL/UPD e.) Store it In Zope I don't see any possibility to I create on-fly statements. My mechanism is good, because in my database I have 200 tables, and if I want to create all zsql method to all table, then I must write 200*3 update sql statement, and 200*1 select by id sql statement. And I don't say about the special selects - my way is handle all of these statements. So there are the ways I see to do it: 1./ I write it by hand. Many time,.... :-((((((((((((( 2./ I write an xml section creator in py. I create din. sqls in python+xml, and I insert into exported zope site file. Then I import it to zope. 3./ I write an subsite, what load all table descriptors to arrays, and create the zsql methods into zope site's folder. When the database content (structure) is changed, I recreate all zsql method. 4./ I access the zsql-s on-fly, and when it is must change (the table structure is changed) then I change the zsql method. But I don't know, what is happening, when another zope request thread is working with this method... 5./ I access the DA object, and can create dynamic SQL-s. But I can do that ???? 6./ I change the zope to the mod_python. (I don't want to do it, only if I haven't any solution) 7./ I am going to Antarctis, or to the Moon. Or to insane... 1/2/3 solutions are very ugly things, because the many zsql method is many text, and the zope fs is grow to very large. variable passing in DTML

Is there an elegant way of passing a variable from one DTML method to another DTML method without using a form? I have a page with many images that when I click on an image I like to pass the image name to the next page. Thanks Hara

<dtml-mime>

My question is about sending an HTML attachment with the mime tag. I have tried every combination of the mime tags arguments, but I cannot get a true attachment. The HTML comes out concantenated to the message. This works ok for some mail clients but not MS products that my clients use (the ones who pay the bills). Creating DBTab mountpoint inside a Plone site produces a ConflictError

I've been playing with Ape and just hit my head to wall, when trying to create an DBTab mountpoint to inside a Plone site. Creating mountpoint and using posgtgres as a database works - if I put mountpoint to the root level, but trying to get the mountpoint inside Plone-site fails.
