Using all_meta_types correctly

I'm trying to limit the "add" menu in a folderish object as part of my product, and I seem to be missing something. I've added the following lines to my object's class definition: all_meta_types = ( {'name':'Narya-Topic', 'action':'manage_addTopicForm'}, {'name':'Narya-Thread', 'action':'manage_addThreadForm'} ) meta_types = all_meta_types based on information I was able to find by searching on zope.org (but it's very sparse). And there's an example in App/Product.py which looks very similar to this. But, when I try to use the resulting add menu, I get a "Not Found" message on 'manage_addTopicForm'. When I remove these lines, and use the unlimited add menu, it directs me not to: myfolder/manage_addTopicForm but to myfolder/manage_addProduct/Narya/manage_addTopicForm obviously mirroring the Python syntax: myfolder.manage_addProduct['Narya'].manage_addTopicForm() which I've already gotten used to using in my product code. Can anybody tell me what I should change here? If I wanted to tell it to access the latter URL, would I use Python or URL syntax? OR, is this telling me I have something more important wrong? Pyperl installation with ActivePython - still having problems

Hello, I tried other way with ActivePython, I looks simpler but here is my history: Ive installed ActivePython 2.2.3 in my Zope server to prove the compatibility between them and to prove the possibility of calling AcrivePerls functions from Zope. I had to install 2.2.3 because Python Package Manager is not included in version 2.3.2. So I have on question: Is there any other module like pyppm in 2.3.2 which could be used to install a module in ActivePython 2.3.2? Ive been looking for pyperl module, but I couldnt find it in the PyPI Url. Ive read Pyperl is the module which can give me the possibility of calling Perl from Python. I dont know if there is any other one. On the other hand, I tried to use pyppm from my 2.2.3 installation, Im behind a firewall so I configured HTTP_proxy, HTTP_proxy_user and HTTP_proxy_pass environment variables but Im still having problems. I get the following error when I type the command pyppm install pyperl: **************************************************************** PPM>install pyperl Install package pyperl? (Y/n): y Installing package 'pyperl'... Connecting to SOAP server ActiveState Package Repository... ERROR: (7, 'getaddrinfo failed') **************************************************************** >From the browser I can connect the SOAP server and I can download the pyppmserver.pl but this is empty. I'm setting up a blog now and all appears to be fine. I'd like to make a change to the interface though so that: The user clicks a link on the index page which takes them to: blog/manage_addEntryForm (no problems here) Then when they add the entry it DOESN'T take them to manage_workspace but back to the index page. However, I don't see to be able to find the source page for the manage_addEntryForm so that I can put it in. Does anyone know where this page is 'kept'? Kate

Button to pack data base

I would like to include a button or link on a Zope site that would allow a user with the right privileges ( what privileges do they need -- can I restrict their "management" capability to just the pack function?) to pack the data base. I would like to have it use the appearance of the website, not the ZMI. Any idea of how to do this? Directions to code that does this in the ZMI that I could examine?

Programmatically managing SOAPMethod objects within ZClasses

I'm developing a ZClass that uses SOAPMethod objects to make calls on a remote server. The goal I'm trying to accomplish is to give end users a form where they can set the remote hostname and port to connect to for all SOAPMethods in the ZClass. The problem I'm running into is figuring out how to call each object's "manage_edit" method; frankly, I'm lost to the point that I have no inkling of where to begin. I *could* modify the SOAPMethod's source to look at my class's propertysheets, but that seems to go against the general OOP-ness of Zope. Any suggestions? -- Kirk Strauser The Day Companies

Redirecting to an "under construction" page

Hi, I need all URLs of a Zope site to be temporarily redirected to an "under construction" page. http://www.foo.com/any/path?any=query --> http://www.foo.com/underconstruction_html I've tried through an access rule script but it seems that the request.RESPONSE.redirect(...) doesn't work in that case. Any idea ? evaluate request string as dtml-tree folder

hi, i'm sure this problem has a relatively simple fix, but since i'm new to zope it's all somewhat complex to me. i'm trying to pass an arguement from the REQUEST (e.g. myzope.com/index_html?foo=bar) to a dtml-tree in a dtml method (e.g. <dtml-tree foo branches="obejctValues"> where foo's content should evaluate as a folder which the tree will use as a root). i think the issue is that the <dtml-tree> sees foo as a string and not an object/folder. is there anyway of getting the foo string evaluated or converted to an object? thanks, jason yee

I have attached the method of a class I am trying to use. It queries (I think) the catalog 'users' and uo = ro[0] returns a mybrains instance. When I add the .getObject() I get the error listed below. Worse, I can't clear the error without deleting the directory in which the object resides.
