Hi, I've seen the following code in the BITS product which adds roles to zope. ROLES=['Projectmanager','Teammember','Teamleader','ZMI'] for role in ROLES: self.REQUEST.set('role',role) self.manage_defined_roles(submit='Add Role',REQUEST=self.REQUEST) this piece of code is called when adding an instance of the product. Serving video out of Zope

It looks like we'll need to serve streaming Dvideo out of Zope in some generally playable format (IE, Mozilla, Opera, etc.) on a variety of platforms (Wintel, MACS (MacOS 8.6, 9, 10), Linux, etc.). The format's somewhat open, but since bandwidth is a consideration and the video streams are significant (an hour to 90 minutes), MPEG is probably not a first choice. It's been suggested that the right control language might be SMIL. Anyone have experience in this arena they'd be willing to share. What works? What are the hidden gotchas?

Having troubles using exUserFolder with Postgres

Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up exUserFolder to authenticate against a Postgres database. When I try to set it up, I keep getting this error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'MessageDialog' is not defined immediately following the "Choose Authentication Type" screen. Versions: Zope Version (Zope 2.6.0 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86), python 2.1.3, linux2) Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, Sep 19 2002, 13:15:46) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)] and I'm downloading the latest exUserFolder 0.10.10. I've tried downloading it from both zope.org and sourceforge; the versions are identical, and both are failing for me in an identical manner... I'm using Postgres 7.3.1. My Postgres DB is accessible from Zope, and the DB connection is configured at the same level as I'm trying to install exUserFolder. exUserFolder sees the DB connection fine. I've tried lots of different combinations of configuration settings (Postgres/ZODB, with/without membership, etc.) and it's always failing for me at the same point. I've tried manually building the "passwd" and "userproperties" tables as per the pgScheme.sql file, but that doesn't make any difference. The Changes.txt file for exUserFolder describes what may be the same problem as being fixed in version 0.10.9. Thinking the fix may have somehow disappeared from 0.10.10, I scrubbed 0.10.10 and installed 0.10.9 - problem didn't change. Has anyone else come across this problem? Any suggestions what else to check? For what it's worth, everything else Zope-ish (and otherwise) on this box is working fine - it's just exUserFolder that's giving me problems. It's a much more specialized language (HTML documents *only*), looks *really* obfuscated. Stuffs all its code into HTML attributes which is great for hiding the code away, but awful if you want to see the document structure. DTML and Python work fine together, and are capable of handling the whole range of tasks I need. ZPT+Python cannot. So ZPT is neither necessary nor sufficient. Anyone using Leo?

I'm thinking about using Leo for Python script editing (via ExternalEditor) http://sourceforge.net/projects/leo/ I'm just wondering if anyone else is using it or has used it, and whether it's 'a good idea'? Is Leo a good match for Zope, or is there some duplication and conflict between what they're both trying to do?

I'm going with the theory that starting Zope as an OSX service caused the problem, since this product was previously working, and that's the only major change I've made recently. Steve, do you have it running as an MOSX service on your machine? If so, do you mind telling me whether it runs under "nobody" or someone else? I was never able to get my OS to recognize the -u switch when starting up, so my Zope runs under "nobody." Here are some steps I took: * Double-checked that there were no spaces or other oddities in the basepath. There were none. * Zope is running as an MOSX service as nobody, which is an unprivileged user. Tried giving "nobody" various privileges, but that made no difference. * The local directories I'm trying to give access to are in a subdirectory of /library/webserver/documents/ Subdirectory is owned by myself:webteam. The subdirectory is shared with "webteam." "webteam" includes users who make changes to that portion of my site. * I added nobody and root to the group "webteam" just to see what would happen but it didn't make a difference. Privileges were rwxrwxrw- * Tried making the privileges rwxrwxrwx on the /library/webserver/documents/subdirectory but that didn't make a difference. * Actually shut down and restarted Zope after each of these steps. Argh. Any further clues, anyone? Local FS files "not found"

I've had Local FS installed for a year now and finally when someone tried to use it, it stopped working! The hard drive location of the LocalFS is /Library/WebServer/Documents/SomeFolder I've given ug+rwx permissions to SomeFolder. In Zope, the basepath for the LocalFS is defined as /Library/WebServer/Documents/SomeFolder When the user goes to the URL of this LocalFS, she sees a list of PDF files in the file system, but when she clicks on one (or control-clicks to download) she gets a "not found" error:  However, the documents she is looking for DO exist in the correct location on the hard drive. They also have ug+rwx permissions, and she is a member of the appropriate group. I've tried my programmer's suggestion of adding a / after SomeFolder in the basepath property, but that did not work.
