Hi Fritz, No, it was no "rights" problem. I gave both script as Xron Method manage rights and rights to use MailHost. But thanks for your reply. The problem was the namespace the script was running in... Although I'm still confused about what the difference is between "view"-ing and "trigger"-ing the Xron mehod, the sollution was in the documentation, but unexplained. To get the script working I had to force it into the namespace PARENTS[-1] So putting the tags <dtml-with "PARENTS[-1]"> and </dtml-with> around my script-call did the trick. Ria

webdav and MSWorddocument or nuxdocument

I have, trough answears i got here on the list and on reading about PUT_factory understood that PUT_factory is the way to go if i want word-documents which have been copied trough webdav or FTP, to automatically show up as MSWordDocuments or NuxDocument. However, I can not get it to work. With nuxdocument there is a put_factory, but it will only render my word-documents as files My guess is that this is something that have been tried before. SSO, Authentication & 3rd party portals

I was wondering if anyone has experience using Zope and Jetspeed? I have a Jetspeed portal and it is time to add some content to a hand full of portlets. I am looking for information on whether or not it can be done or even if it is practical. As a quick experiment, I used an IFrame portal and run the Zope Management Interface. When I log on to the portal and the IFrame initializes, I am also prompted to input the userid and password for the ZMI. Is there any way to implement a Single Sign On so that the ZMI uses the already authenticated Jetspeed userid and password? If I develop a Zope application with a catalog and some folders containing a set of documents, the user would be prompted when the particular portlet starts up with the Zope application. Question about a custom folderish product and FTP access

Hi, I've developed a new product derived from Folder, and it all works fine, except that FTP clients do not recognise it as a directory. I define the class as class TouchFolder( CatalogAware, Folder ): . . . """ Is there anything else anyone can think of that I might be missing that would mean that I can not 'cd' to the folder from an FTP client ? How to use "lower" attribute (or function) to catch duplicate User IDs?

I am new to Zope (less than a week) and I'm in the process of writing a small portal where users can sign themselves up. Right now it is working, but I have a few known problems - one of which is that my routine that checks for duplicate User IDs is case-sensitive (i.e. it would allow "bob","Bob" and "BOB" all to register). I also realize that what I have right now is kluged together - I'm sure there is a more efficient (and more elegant) way of doing what I've done. Here's the basic outline of what I have done so far. It is very skeletal right now, as I'm figuring out how to use Zope. Public Access page: -> Contains link to sign up -> Contains link to members only side Private Page: -> contains link to make entry in member database -> contains link to list members Logic Flow: NewLAGUserForm - captures first attempt to create User ID & calls VerifyLAGUserForm VerifyLAGUserForm - checks data, if all OK, calls AddLAGUser, otherwise redisplays entry form (with appropriate error messages) and submits input to VerifyLAGUserForm again AddLAGUser - makes entry into acl_users with appropriate role, makes entry into SQL database with user information, emails "thank you" message to user with User ID & password info SECURITY QUESTION: - In order for this to work I had to set the security for on acl_users (for this folder) to "Manage users" for "Anonymous". Does this open up any way for someone to gain access directly to the acl_users folder? I've tried to and it seems like it is still safe - I have the 'Member' role hardcoded into the add user script. Code Examples Rather than post lengthy codes segments to the list, I put all of the code examples online as text files via the following link: http://examples.subbob.net (non-zope) The working implementation of the above files may be found at: http://www.subbob.net:8081/wargames Feel free to try it out as I'm only in testing right now and will be purging the database when testing is complete. Outstanding Questions: 1) How to track a "state" within a given DTML Document or Method? The Verify form is very cumbersome as I go through each "test" twice. The first set of nested ifs are used to determine the overall validity of the submission - if it gets to the "center" of the nest, the data is submitted. If any errors exist, then I retest each parameter prior to redisplaying the form in order to flag the associated input box with an error message. I had to do that way because I couldn't figure out a way to accomplish it like this in DTML: If email-good then email-error=0 else email-error=1 Then check, if all error values=0, submit the form, otherwise display the errors. I'll appreciate any feedback on what I've done so far - I've probably violated most accepted practices of "good" zope coding! :)

How could I make a form with multiple actions

Hi, I have a form which i require to do two things with. 1. Insert data into a MySQLdb table. 2. Upload a file to the zope file system. I can do both indiviually no problems. I want to do this so i have a mysql refrence to the file but dont want the file actually in the mysql db. I want all this data linked. My problem is that I want to do both at once by clicking the same submit button. I was thinking that maybe I could pass all data to a py script and have it deal with the input one at a time. Problems zope/debian

I encounter problems with the debian unstable version of zope (2.6.1). A couple of days ago, I did apt-get dist-upgrade of the version 2.5 till 2.6.1 and apparently the daemon isn't able to load anymore, the Z2-server can be loaden, not the zope daemon (/etc/init.d/zope and /usr/sbin/zope), neither the defined ports are opened. Anybody knows the reason ? Greetz, Johan

newbie - DB connectivity

Hi all, I'am running a Linux RedHat 8.0 server with zope-2.6.1. I wish to connect to a DB on a remote server. It's a Dataperfect DB (running on MS DOS). Is it possible ? Is there an adapter for Dataperfect ? if not, how would you do it (without migrating the DB) ? Thanks for any idea or suggestions !

Hi all, I have a little problem and maybe someone can help me with that. I added a new user in Zope. Logging-in process with the new data is no problem, But when I want to edit a document, the installed CMF Visual Editor doesn't start. When I log in with another user, the editor starts. Anybody an idea where to find the problem and the solution. Thanks in advance !!!

Zope Goblin Caught Red-Handed!

Hi; Okay, prove me wrong on this one!
