Loading Javascript Arrays with ZSQL Method

Hi all, It is possible to load a Javascript array using data from a ZSQL Method? Maybe some of you can give me a better way of doing this without using Javascript. I just want to create a dynamic drop down menu that users can select from and be able to display contents gather from a database query according to their selection. For example, if a user select category A. Then it will display all items for category A pulled from a database column. if select category B, then display all B items, etc. Thanks in advance, Mike --

Zope architecture diagram?

I have often wanted a diagram I could show to other developers (and to myself, I confess) that's more detailed than http://www.zope.org/ZopeArchitecture . "Zope Core" is nice and abstract, but not helpful when I'm looking at the zope source and wondering "Who handles Today I came across http://www.zope.org/Members/SolKarma/ZEfive which is more detailed, but is also inaccurate on at least 3 points I spotted right away: * the ZODB knows nothing at all about Acquisition; AFAIK acquisition is handled at the Product level. * unpickling has nothing at all to do with compression, it has only to do with object persistence. * it's the ZODB, not ZPublisher, that pickles and unpickles things. -- Paul Winkler http://www.slinkp.com Look! REQUEST variable is not being modified by Zope Python script

Hello. I am calling a Python script called 'incrementCounter' from a DTML Document and passing a variable to it called 'counter'. However, for some reason the value of this variable remains unchanged when control returns to the DTML method. I tested the Python script independently via the management interface and it works fine. The code for both the document and script is listed below. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Final version of Colorz released

Hi all here is thi final version of the Colorz product. New stuff: - A few bug fixes - Proper security :-/ - You can choose a color by name for the main color (aprox. 500 named colors). http://www.zope.org/Members/maxm/productList/colorz/ Colorz is usable in many situations. * It can automatically generate a color sheme for an entire website from only one single color! * It serves as a single color repository for a website. * You can change the color scheme for a branch of a website, or for the entire site without having to change any code. * In systems like Plone, where changing the colors very often is part of site customisation procedure. Colorz makes it possible to change alle colors on a site by changing just the main color. Then the rest of the colors on the site will automatically adjust to this color by automatically generating an new color scheme. Following standard color theory. * When you are doing a draft layout, you usually skip back and forth between DreamWeaver, Photoshop and you browser. By using the Colorz you can make preliminary layouts a lot simpler. You can also test out which color scheme will be good for a main color. How to get permissions of a role?

Hello list, I've been digging in the list and in the sources for hours and days now, but I cannot find a solution - so, please help me out: I need to find out what permissions a role has. But I need the acquired permissions as well, so "permissionsOfRole('Owner')" doesn't work! Using getPermissions on the user object doesn't help because the user doesn't necessarily have the desired role. BTW: Is it wanted or a bug that Taking Ownership doesn't mean to get the local role "Owner"? I found a method "getRoles" in AccessControl/Permission.py which could perhaps suit my needs, but I don't know how to access it via PythonScript or DTML. Could anyone put me into the right direction, please? Volatile variables Problem

Hi all: Well, i have a serious problem... I have defined a variable inside my product that I refresh periodically via XML-RPC (every ~1 min). I need to maintain this variable volatile because ZODB grows to the infinite... The problem arises when a new conection is established an the variable value need to be shown. In some cases the query raises an AttributeException. Now I catch this exception, but this no solves my problem... Why the value of this variable is lost? How I can solve the problem? Does zope still need a python compiled with "--without-pymalloc" ?

I still compile my python --without-pymalloc from the pre-python-2.1.3 days when zope suffered from bugs in python. Help w/ Date Sorting

My Code: <span tal:repeat="item python: sequence.sort(container.news.objectValues ('DTML Document'), (('dateline','cmp','desc'),) )"> What this is doing: Using repeat to create a sequence of "DTML Docs" from my "news" folder. Then it's running a sort of those documents using the "dateline" field and sorting the objects from newest to oldest using cmp function. What my dateline field is: A property: type = string. They look like this "01-25-2003" and so on.... The error: It's returning output similiar to this: 01-13-2003 01-14-2003 01-24-2003 01-31-2002 01-31-2003 02-14-2002 02-26-2002 This is definitely not what I'm after > I'm after the newest date first and then on down. And I can't use the bobobase date b/c some documents get updated at different times (i.e a doc from 2002 could get updated today, but I don't want that to be on top). Any ideas?

RDFSummary problem

Hi all, I'm using Eionet's RDFSummary. I have Zope 2.6 on win2kpro, and my lan has a MS proxy server with authentication. If I start Zope with the start.bat I can connect, for example, to this page: http://www.polare.com/news/HPE/xml/feeds/86/186.xml, but if I start Zope as service, when I try to connect to the same RSS url, I have this error: Error Type: URLError URLError: <urlopen error (10061, 'Connection refused')> Can anyone explain this? I a newbie and using ideas like the ones on that web page, my attempts at redirection have not been very successful. Perhaps somebody can point out what I'm doing wrong? What I have found is that you can setup redirection with your web server. But the problem is that Zope sometimes uses absolute links which cause problems. For example, lets say I have http://www.abc.foo/new-site redirected to http://www.xyz.foo:8080. I made a SiteRoot at the toplevel of my Zope site, but I still be problems because Zope generates HTML that includes references like "/misc_/..." or "/p_/..." or "/manage_zmi_logout". As a result, the browser looks for http://www.abc.foo/manage_zmi_logout but http://www.abc.foo isn't a Zope site (likewise for "/misc_" and "/p_"). The article you mention doesn't cover these details. So my question is: a) Am I doing something stupid (quite possible)?!? b) If not, what is the exhaustive list of things I need to have special redirection rules for and/or c) Why isn't Zope smarter about this?!? Like I said, I'm a newbie and I've been trying to find information on this but I haven't been successful.
