acquisition problem (I think???)

Hi, I am writing a product through the ZMI (which extends Folder) that contains products of the same type (basically a hierarchical system). I want to be able to delete an arbitrary item and all of it's sub-items. The method that does this is a recursive deleteMe() python script. Here is the code that I am using: def deleteMe(root=1): children = context.objectIds('NavigationMenu') if (len(children)): for child in children: context[child].deleteMe(root=0) context.manage_delObjects(children) if (root==1): context.aq_parent.manage_delObjects(context.id) So, to me this looks like your standard recursive function (well, sort of). However, when I get to the bottom of the tree, context.objectIds contains siblings, not children. I would expect that if there were no children, objectIds would return []. I have tried using container instead of context, but that does not work, either. As an example, say we have the following hierarchy: menu1 - menu2 - menu3 - menu4 If I were to delete menu1, I would get an error inside menu2 like: BadRequest: m3 does not exist Sometimes I get attribute errors (e.g. __getitem__ doesn't exist), or keyerrors. The problem either happens in ObjectManager._getOb, or manage_delObjects. I get the feeling that *somehow* the context becomes menu1, even though the callback says it is really menu2. Otherwise, I don't understand how menu2.objectValues() would EVER know about it's siblings! Any ideas why this is happening? Do just not understand acquisition? Thank you so much for the help, Andy

Mark, Indeed, in my case, the memory leak got MUCH worse after installing LeakFinder. I made the educated guess that this was due to the fact that references no longer being lost, memory usage was being allocated differently or something like that? (When references are lost, memory might get overwritten?) I think I posted a question to the list about that, but no one seemed to have anything to contribute to that ... So either I was right, or it was so weird no one knew :) Let me know what you find, I'm inetersted to see if we maybe experience problems based on the same root cause. Zope QuotaFolder -- scripting API ?

Ivo, I love your QuotaFolder product and I would like to user it in a python script. ( Please forgive me, I am new to zope ) I installed QuotaFolder and I can create new QuotaFolder objects from the ZMI, but I would like to use it in a script like: try: context.manage_addQuotaFolder(username,"Portfolio of %s" % username,quota_bytes=10485760,quota_objects=1000,quota_maxsize=0,REQUEST=Non e) except Exception, e: print "Create folder failed : %s" % e return printed or: try: context.manage_addQuotaFolder(username,"Portfolio of %s" % username,10485760,1000,0) except Exception, e: print "Create folder failed in first exception: %s" % e return printed etc. etc. but in every case the script fails to do anything, the 'try' fails and throws an Excpetion 'e' that stringifies to "manage_addQuotaFolder" Can this be done? ( I must apologize, my Zope knowledge is at a very early stage ) I love the ZMI, but my main interest in Zope is as a Python platform. tks, mulc

DateTime - Date format problems

I believe I have discovered a link between the DateTime module and and stress related heart failure. After many annoying timezone related bugs (AEST != US/Eastern, despite pythons evil attempts to thwart me), I am down to one last major problem. I have a Plone/Zope based website, and need users to be able to enter dates in the format DD/MM/YYYY. DateTime has deciced to make my life interesting by deciding that it will sometimes use that format, and other times use MM/DD/YYYY. Is there a way to force DateTime to always use DD/MM/YYYY no matter how much it's feindish algorithm decides different? (strftime isnt an option either- I need to get it into the DateTime object correctly in the first place)

exUserFolder vs SSL

I am having an annoying problem with a Zope (2.5.1) application we have deployed on a server using Apache, SSL and a SiteRoot. Everything works just fine except that I cannot get to the management screens for the application itself when I am logged in at the root management level as a Manager. Every time I try to load them, I get either the login screen or (these days) an error screen that I have never seen: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. ValueError The traceback says very little except a few lines ending with File ....Products/exuserFiler/exUserfolder.py, line 694 in std_validate ValueError: unpack tuple of wrong size. This makes it rather difficult to maintain or patch the production server. Anyone have any ideas? Testing a value returned from a Zope Python Script

Hello. I am trying to test a value returned from a Python script using the following syntax: <dtml-if expr="<dtml-call expr="checkRowLength(fileObject_index, rowLength)"> == 0"> </dtml-if> checkRowLength is the name of the script. Apparently Zope flags me with an error saying that this is an invalid attribute tag for a dtml-if. Is there any other way of achieving this? for ... in or aq_acquire arguments ?

in this line for data in self.aq_acquire('_getProductRegistryData')('zclasses'): i suppose that aq_acquire returns the value of _getProductRegistryData of self but what is "'zclasses'" is it anargumet for the for loop or for the aq_acquire method ? I serached for the syntax of aq_acquire and for..in and i did'nt find this syntax for expression in (expression_list) (something_else): TIA -- Andre PZP Enthusiast
