problems running ZserverSSL; process continues, response stops

Hi, Apologies in advance if this is not the right place to post -- any pointers to more appropriate lists will be appreciated. I'm running Zope-2.6.2 with a modified ZServer built using the M2Crypto package, version 0.11. There is no server "in front of" ZServer, which is listening on port 9443. Things start up fine. In my log file, I get messages of the form: 2004-01-06T01:17:54 INFO(0) ZServer recv: closing channel <ZServer.HTTPS_Server.zhttps_channel connected xx.xx.xx.xx:1123 at 0x935270c channel#: 51 requests:> unexpected eof 2004-01-06T01:29:12 INFO(0) ZServer recv: closing channel <ZServer.HTTPS_Server.zhttps_channel connected xx.xx.xx.xx:1143 at 0x8f7e854 channel#: 71 requests:> (104, 'Connection reset by peer') The server runs for about 1000 requests (at least it was 1000 the last time) and then stops responding. The process(es) still show up in a process listing. To get things rolling again, I have to use the stop script and then the start script. I doubt any of the following information matters, but: -- all accesses are from two machines in two locations, both running recent versions of Explorer. -- the machine on which the server is running is very lightly loaded -- the served Zope pages are a Plone site, which connects to a MySQL database -- there is no log message related to the stop in response -- Zope appears to shut down and restart normally in response to the stop and start scripts -- the start script does NOT include the -D flag -- the Zope process is run from a regular user account -- there is no obvious way in which the "last request" differs from those that precede it I'd be very grateful for any pointers or suggestions, and would be delighted to answer any questions that might help in diagnosing this. Zcatalog question

I have a Zcatalog setup to handle bunches of small xml files that are being stored as DTML Documents. When I do a query I would like to make the results unique on a fieldindex that is called ad_num. Is there a way to filter the results of a query to be unique on a fieldindex. I realize I can step through the results and filter out the duplicates but is there a more optimal way of doing this. I tried messing with something like this: context.Catalog({ 'adTextidx' : adTextidx}).uniqueValuesFor('ad_num') but this unfortunatly does not work. thanks for any help with this. -- Steve Lenti Systems Analyst Good night to spend with family, but avoid arguments with your mate's new lover.

Thanks Andreas. >Redirection in always handled outside Squid. As you can see in squid.conf you have to pass the name of the external program. So OK, I need another program. Any suggestions/preferences? Does anyone have a sample of how to handle my minimalist requirement (rewrite http://mysite.com --> http://123.45.678.9:81/somedir) ? Sorry but I need some help... Ken

Persistence-safe __dict__?

Every once in awhile, it's handy in Python to just access the __dict__ attribute and get the whole list of defined names in a class or instance. It's not always well-advised, but sometimes it's awfully useful. I unwittingly used this technique with a Zope persistent object recently, and got some extremely weird errors due to __dict__ occasionally evaluating as {}. My guess is that this is because __dict__ access is not persistence-safe (perhaps the {} bug occurs when the object is in it's "phantom" state?). Anyway, in that case, I could work around the problem by listing the attributes I wanted explicitly (actually I used the names defined in the object's Interface, which is kind of cool from a design perspective, but that's another issue). Anyway, is there a safer way to get the same information as __dict__ from a Persistent object? Squid redirector script

Hello! I am trying to set up Squid as reverse proxy for Zope. My requirement is pretty minimal: Zope and Squid are on the same machine and serve only one domain. However, due to the combination of Products I am using, the main directory of my website cannot be the root directory and I have used a VHM. The howtos I have read are just not clear enough for me about the redirector script/program needed to rewrite URLs. Must I install a program like Squirm or pyredir just to change incoming requests for 'http://mysite.com' to 'http://123.45.678.9:81/somedir'? Or can this be done with one line in squid.conf (I hope)? Converting Zope Content to Plone

Hello, can someone help me with this problem? earlier i have created some folders and files with zope. now i am using plone and wanna import these folders/files importing is not the problem but the type of the folders plone uses 'Plone Folders' and 'Documents' but i have 'Folder' and 'File' any chance to convert them? I wonder how zope.org did this thanks in advance, Stefan
