Remote Zope Backup
by Mike Doanh Tran 28 Dec '01

Hi all, Does anyone knows of a good way to backup Data.fs remotely. Currently, i have a cron job that gzip Data.fs nightly and secure copy it to a remote backup host. My packed Data.fs is over 260MB (230MB with gzip). This is just too much nightly traffic. Is there a method where i can just perform an rsync of Data.fs instead of scp? Perhaps export Data.fs into XML format, then rsync or maybe perform just an incremental backup of Data.fs some how? Does anyone have any ideas? I am running Zope 2.3.0 on Redhat 7.1. thanks, -- Mike Tran Shufflemaster Gaming Inc.

my custom log method for logging users
by Erik Myllymaki 27 Dec '01

27 Dec '01

I have rewritten log function in http_server so that I can log usernames and passwords. I got this mostly from a post in the archives but since I am using login manager with basic cookie authentication it needs to grab the cookie and do some work on it. The only problem I am having is that the base64.decode function throws a binascii.error when a user has some special characters in her username:password. This happens with the underscore character for sure, and maybe others...I haven't checkd for sure. Any ideas? I assume it is supposed to do this (or there is a bug in the base64 module), so what would anyone suggest as a solution? def log (self, bytes): user_agent=self.get_header('user-agent') if not user_agent: user_agent='' referer=self.get_header('referer') if not referer: referer='' k=self.get_header('cookie') cookie_name = '__ac' cookies={} cookie='?' lname = '?' password = '?' if k: parse_cookie(k, cookies) cookie=cookies.get(cookie_name, '') try : [lname, password] = split(decodestring(split(cookie)[-1]),':',1) except : pass self.channel.server.logger.log ( self.channel.addr[0], ' - "%s:%s" - %s - [%s] "%s" %d %d "%s" "%s"\n' % ( lname, password, cookie, self.log_date_string (time.time()), self.request, self.reply_code, bytes, referer, user_agent, ) ) TIA -- Erik Myllymaki erik(a)pacific-shores.com

More VHM + apache + images trouble
by Timothy Wilson 27 Dec '01

27 Dec '01

Hi everyone, I'd like to add a "me too" to Dean's question about broken images when using VHM and apache rewrite rules. Here's my configuration: I've got Zope running on port 8080 with the following rewrite rules in my httpd.conf file: <VirtualHost 10.0.0.2> #IP 208.42.140.222 ServerName www.qwerk.org DocumentRoot /var/www/qwerk.org ServerAlias qwerk.org *.qwerk.org RewriteEngine On RewriteLogLevel 0 RewriteLog "/var/log/apache/rewrite_log" RewriteRule ^/mailman/ - [L] RewriteRule ^/webalizer/ - [L] RewriteRule ^/~(.*) - [L] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.qwerk.org:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.qwerk.org/Wilson/Virtual… [P] </VirtualHost> The last rule rewrites requests for http://www.qwerk.org to http://www.qwerk.org:8080/Wilson/. Everything works perfectly when I visit http://www.qwerk.org:8080/Wilson/, but the main image is broken if you go to http://www.qwerk.org/. If you view the HTML source at http://www.qwerk.org/ you'll see that href for the image is clearly wrong. It leaves out the /Wilson. Unfortunately, the rewrite logs don't reveal much to me: 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (2) init rewrite engine with requested uri / 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (3) applying pattern '^/mailman/' to uri '/' 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (3) applying pattern '^/webalizer/' to uri '/' 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (3) applying pattern '^/~(.*)' to uri '/' 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (3) applying pattern '^/(.*)' to uri '/' 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (2) rewrite / -> http://www.qwerk.org:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.qwerk.org/Wilson/Virtual… 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (2) forcing proxy-throughput with http://www.qwerk.org:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.qwerk.org/Wilson/Virtual… 10.0.0.3 - - [27/Dec/2001:14:14:13 -0600] [www.qwerk.org/sid#80aec5c][rid#80c412c/initial] (1) go-ahead with proxy request proxy:http://www.qwerk.org:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.qwerk.org/Wilson/V… [OK] Any advice would be appreciated. -Tim -- Tim Wilson | Visit Sibley online: | Check out: Henry Sibley HS | http://www.isd197.org | http://www.zope.com W. The default for administering Zope is http://localhost:8080 <http://localhost:8080> , how do I configure ZOPE to serve http://mydomain.com <http://mydomain.com> without the 8080? I plan on using ZOPE for our IntrAnet and wanted to make sure I can have our employees point to our Intranet domain name, without the 8080. Thanks Allen May MCSi Web Admin 800.842.1702 x7628

VHM + apache + images
by Dean Grubb 27 Dec '01

27 Dec '01

Hi, I'am having problems with VHM, Apache and images, my rewrite statement is straight from the zope site.. NameVirtualHost 203.31.212.17 <VirtualHost www.wells.com.au> ServerName www.wells.com.au DocumentRoot /home/www.wells.com.au <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteLog "/var/log/apache/rewrite_log" RewriteLogLevel 1 RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://203.31.212.17:9080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.wells.com.a u:80/wells/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [P] </IfModule> </VirtualHost> I have a VHM in my zope root with domain wells.com.au mapped to /wells the problem is all the html files get found ok but none of the images are displayed. My images or in /wells/images directory. Right clicking on the graphic shows that the graphic location is http://www.wells.com.au/images/somthing.gif If I do a http://203.31.212.17:9080/wells then everthing is ok. [note: the domain stated is currently only setup for internal use]

MailHost
by Shilpa Shenvi 27 Dec '01

27 Dec '01

Hello, Has anyone else had this problem? >From a python script, I call mhost.send(messageText=mText, mto=emailaddr, mfrom=frmemailaddr, subject=title, encode=none). All variables have previously been defined. The contents of messageText cannot be seen in the email. I tried directly placing a string, i.e messageText='hello', as well has defining the value in a separate variable and setting that equal to messageText. I never get anything in the body of the email. The to and from and subject fields are always fine. Any suggestions? Thank you, Shilpa

force bobobase_modification_time
by Peter Bengtsson 27 Dec '01

27 Dec '01

Is it possible to control the bobobase_modification_time at all? When moving objects but actually recreating them through a little script they all get the natural bobobase_modifiaction_time which is that of the creation date. I was _hoping_ to do something like this: object.bobobase_modification_time.set('2001/10/09') ...or... object.bobobase_modification_time.set(ZopeTime('2001/10/09')) ...but this syntax obviously doesn't work. Cheers, Peter
