Re: [Zope-dev] How to call the class in python file into zope script python.
by Lennart Regebro 25 Dec '01

Hello! Zope-dev is for the development of Zope, not the development with zope, so I send this to the Zope2zope.org list instead, where these questions should be asked and answered! >From: "박 재성" <bigarea(a)korea.com> >There is the display() class in the BBSExpert.py. >I want to call this class (display() is located in the BBSExpert.py) If you create a BBSExpert object in the root of the webserver you can just attach 'display' to the end of the URL: http://localhost:8080/BBSExpert/display If you want to call it from DTML you use <dtml-var "BBSExpert.display()">

Re: [Zope] ZMySQLDA compile error

>From: Oleg Broytmann <phd(a)phd.pp.ru> > You are trying to compile very very old and outdated sources. >MySQLmodule is ling dead. Long live MySQLdb! You are probably right. But, when I do a search on zope.org for "Software Products" with the word "mysql" I receive this: ZMySQLDA 1999/11/02 Python MySQL Database Interface 1999/09/16 Zope MySQL Database Adapter 2000/12/29 So what do you mean with MySQLdb? Oh: when I go to the last link ("Zope MySQL Database Adapter") it tells me that it is modified 2001/09/06 and there suddenly is a link to MySQLdb. Why doesn't this one show up in my previous search? Why not just remove the old stuff from 1999? _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

>I saw this problem report already (--> search the mailing list archives). Isn't an INSTALL.TXT the right place for this? > "MySQLmodule.c" uses "&" in a way your compiler does not like... Oh yes ... Something like RedHat 7.0 is waaaaayyyy of incompatible, isn't it? <OUT OF TOPIC> I don't think, that searching the mailing list archives is a long term solution for this kind of installation problems. </OUT OF TOPIC> _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

Local times ae 25 ms. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Send your FREE holiday greetings online at Yahoo! Greetings.

Still lost

Glad to hear I can do a lot without coding in Python. However I am still lost. Url's did not work for me. I am running windows 98. Zope Website folder? Is that a folder on the Zope web site or a folder titled website in what I dowloaded? If the latter I cannot find it. Zope runs as a service?? You mean Zope becomes my ISP? Or something like that? Still lost, but encouraged to hear that it is easier than Python. I am getting somewhere with Python, slowly. So I guess I might somewhere with Zope not so slowly. If only I can install it and find the start button. :) *********************************************************************************************************************************** Zope normally runs as a service - the only thing you get to see is the web (and other server) interfaces - try:- http://localhost:8080 - for a quick intro http://localhost:8080/manage - for the management interface This is assuming you are on Win NT or 2K and you local machien resolves to localhost (if not try substituting 127.0.0.1 for localhost in the above URLs), and have chosen to run Zope as a service - if it's not running as a service or you are on Win 9x, look for start.bat in the Zope Website folder, run that and try those URLs... --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? I am running windows 98. if you're installing zope in 98, and didnt change anything, then zope will be installed in c:\program files\WebSite go to that folder, double click start.bat then access zope from http://localhost:8080/manage to get started have fun

Newbie

I am a Newbie programmer. I started programming in Python a few weeks ago. I have written one succesful tic tac toe program. I assume I can learn Zope and Python at the same time. If this is wrong please let me know. I just downloaded Zope 2.4.3 It installed, or so it said, but I can't seem to find the start button. Is building basic web web pages in Zope easier or harder than Writing code in Python? Any good Tutorials for complete begginers to Zope and web page building? Thanks John Q.
