Content Management Design Patterns
by Eron Lloyd 21 Dec '01

21 Dec '01

Does anyone have a recommendation for "best practices" for implementing complicated Web patterns like Session Tracking, Member Profile management (how to store the back-end data), Multi-cookie storage/retrieval, and "shopping cart" paradigms? I know that Zope (and specifically CMF) provides for these applications, but I'd like a resource on the core concepts & principles. I'm aware that New Riders is publishing another Zope book entitled "Zope: Web Application Development and Content Management", and could this be exactly what I'm looking for? Steve Spicklemire, would you mind whetting our appetites? Thanks in advance, Eron

converting characters randomly in edit mode
by Jerry McRae 21 Dec '01

21 Dec '01

Hi Zopeople, When editing DTML methods, every so often, maybe on the tenth edit, it replaces HTMP characters to their HTML code, as in converting a < to < and the " to "e;. It only does this on a few of the characters, but with big methods and no way to search in text boxes, it is hard to find. Unfortunately, Undo doesn't seam to help. Once I have the problem, Undoing just brings older version and scrambles them also! Has anyone seen this before? or have aliens invaded my computer. --Jerry /\_/\ Jerry McRae \|||/ mail safely: The Bat! 1.53d (~o o~) (stuck in win98) (. .) Thank you so much! This can be a big help. However, this is just an alternative to having mod_rewrite in separate files. Squishdot 1.4.0 Released!
by Chris Withers 21 Dec '01

21 Dec '01

Squishdot 1.4.0 is now available from: http://www.squishdot.org/Download. This is purely a bugfix release, although _many_ bugs were fixed ;-) See: http://squishdot.org/Documentation/Changes for full details. **This release requires Zope 2.3.2 or later!** If you run into problems, remember Squishdot has a mailing list at YahooGroups and a bug collector on SourceForge. Merry Christmas! Chris

That would be nifty! I'm hoping to have a bit more time over holidays to look at the situation as well. Nested error messages
by Heimo Laukkanen 21 Dec '01

21 Dec '01

I stubled into same problem as described in message: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/71986 WHat creates the thing interesting is, that I have a couple of virtual hosts running in same box. ( Zope 2.4.2 ) And this nested error message comes only up with one virtual host. This one virtual host differs from other in two ways: it requires user to authenticate themselves and is protected with ssl-connection. I first thought that there migth be error in standard_error_message and copied it from a working directory. No success. Any ideas? -huima
