Simple assignment (?)
by Bruce Eckel 24 May '01

I'm trying to do an assignment to a variable I created with "let" as follows: <dtml-let pricelist="parseSeminarRegistration(price_dates)" currentPrice="pricelist[0][1]" > <dtml-in pricelist> <dtml-if sequence-key> <dtml-if "_.DateTime() < _.DateTime(_['sequence-key'])"> <dtml-call currentPrice="_['sequence-item']"> </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> The <dtml-call currentPrice="_['sequence-item']"> Doesn't work, I've tried another way or two. I'm sure assignment must be straightforward, but I'm probably missing something obvious. Can someone enlighten? Thanks. Hi, I have 2 questions: 1) How do I update a job content in the jobBoard without hard coding the id 2) Is it possible to populate tinyTable from external form (without going to management interface)? Zope IDE: Look at BOA Constructor!
by Joachim Werner 23 May '01

23 May '01

Hi! I've read the threads about a fat client project for Zope. Please have a look at Riaan Booysen's BOA Constructor! Unfortunately the current CVS version does not reflect this yet, but Riaan just added very impressing Zope support (initially written by Robert Boulanger) to BOA. The project is quite advanced already, and I guess it would not make too much sense to start a new project without getting in contact with Riaan and Robert (robert(a)bluedynamics.com) first ... Cheers Joachim.

Here's where I got it...apparently I read too much into the phrase "replacing dtml" in the write-up. February 19th Zope News Zope Presentation Templates, by Ethan Fremen Zope Presentation Templates now in an alpha release, have the promise of both replacing dtml and integrating well with wysiwyg tools, like Adobe GoLive. I'm really excited about this project: it should go a long way towards us being able to have real separation of logic, presentation, and data. The basic idea is that attributes in a namespace will control manipulation of nodes in a native XML namespace: the most common example will be XHTML. This means that you'll no longer have a page so saturated with additional tags that you cannot identify the underlying XHTML: instead, you'll have a well formed document that your editor can play nicely with. Since when? There's lots of work being done on Zope Page Templates but I am pretty sure those aren't going to replace dtml. dtml will be here for a long time. ---------End of Included Message---------- Donald Braman donald.braman(a)yale.edu

I've built a site using Zope that uses a bit of dtml. I would like to begin migrating the code to xml in anticipation of Zope's phasing out of dtml. Would that be premature? If not, any advice on how best to approach it? Donald Braman

RE: [Zope] Help for building an intranet
by Farrell, Troy 23 May '01

You can try NTUserFolder http://www.zope.org/Members/htrd/NTUserFolder for your authentication. Look at LocalFS for the files: http://www.zope.org/Members/jfarr/Products/LocalFS You can also enable FTP on the zope server. Run python z2.py -h to get a list of options. Edit start.bat with the options you want, and away you go. Troy -----Original Message----- From: Igor Leturia [mailto:igor@emun.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2001 7:48 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Help for building an intranet Hi everyone! I'm a newbie in Zope. So far I have installed and tried Zope, followed the tutorial and done a very simple application. The problem is I have to make an intranet for my company, as fast as possible and as easy to use for the people in my company as possible. I want people to be able to add new material to the intranet, but without having to upload it in Zope (could be too complicated for them). The easiest way would be to let them copy the material to a folder in the server's hard disk. Is there any Zope product or add-in that lets me see the files of a folder in the hard disk, so I can dynamically arrange a menu depending on the files of a folder in the hard disk? Also, I would like to restrict the access to these files on the hard disk depending on the access rights defined for the files in the local hard disk. Is it possible to do this, I mean reading the access rights of a file in the hard disk? The operating system is Windows 2000 Server. And finally, I would like the users not to have to log in (enter user name and password) again in Zope, as they have already logged in the domain when switching on the computer. Is it possible to obtain what user name the user has logged in the domain with? Again, the operating system is Windows 2000 Server. Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia

re: longest running Zope
by Jean Jordaan 23 May '01

> What is the longest uptime anyone has had with Zope and what OS was it > running? I don't think this should count for much, but I installed Zope on NT roundabout last July on a server here, and a division of say 15 people have been using it to zwiki ever since. That server is being rebuilt now, so I move across the Zope installation to another one. That's the first maintenance I've had to do in more than nine months :) I don't suppose the original machine has been running perfectly uninteruptedly. Zope's running as a service and just stands up again. -- Jean Jordaan -- technical writer -- Mosaic Software
