Problems with ZopeTime
by Oliver Erlewein 23 May '01

Hi I'm having Problems with ZopeTime. The only occurence of ZopeTime I use in the problematic ZClass (Forumbeitrag_addForm) states: <input type=hidden name="datum" value="<dtml-var ZopeTime fmt="%Y/%m/%d - %H:%M:%S">"> When calling as Manager it works just fine. I get following traceback when trying to call as a "user" with reduced rights: File D:\Zope\PortalSQS05\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File D:\Zope\PortalSQS05\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File D:\Zope\PortalSQS05\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: RoleManager) File D:\Zope\PortalSQS05\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File D:\ZOPE\PortalSQS05\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: index_html) File D:\Zope\PortalSQS05\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: index_html) File D:\ZOPE\PortalSQS05\lib\python\App\Factory.py, line 178, in index_html (Object: RoleManager) File D:\Zope\PortalSQS05\lib\python\OFS\DTMLMethod.py, line 189, in __call__ (Object: Forumbeitrag_addForm) File D:\ZOPE\PortalSQS05\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: Forumbeitrag_addForm) File D:\ZOPE\PortalSQS05\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Var.py, line 276, in render (Object: ZopeTime) KeyError: (see above) What's wrong? I can't find anything that would solve my problem. I havn't even got a clue appart from the feeling that it has something to do with the authorization. I'm running on NT4 and Zope 2.3.2. Help for building an intranet
by Igor Leturia 23 May '01

23 May '01

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie in Zope. So far I have installed and tried Zope, followed the tutorial and done a very simple application. The problem is I have to make an intranet for my company, as fast as possible and as easy to use for the people in my company as possible. I want people to be able to add new material to the intranet, but without having to upload it in Zope (could be too complicated for them). The easiest way would be to let them copy the material to a folder in the server's hard disk. Is there any Zope product or add-in that lets me see the files of a folder in the hard disk, so I can dynamically arrange a menu depending on the files of a folder in the hard disk? Also, I would like to restrict the access to these files on the hard disk depending on the access rights defined for the files in the local hard disk. Is it possible to do this, I mean reading the access rights of a file in the hard disk? The operating system is Windows 2000 Server. And finally, I would like the users not to have to log in (enter user name and password) again in Zope, as they have already logged in the domain when switching on the computer. Is it possible to obtain what user name the user has logged in the domain with? Again, the operating system is Windows 2000 Server. Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia

RE: [Zope] Search engine returning all pages?
by Etienne Labuschagne 23 May '01

Hi all, Ok I have fixed half of my problem. The engine now searches correctly, except when I enter nothing in the boxes. When nothing is entered, I still get all the pages. Now this may be correct in a sense (all pages contain some text and some nothing!), but I'd prefer to rather not receive anything if nothing is inputted. I can do a pre-check with JavaScript, but would prefer not to do this. Thanks Etienne -----Original Message----- From: Etienne Labuschagne [mailto:etiennel@geospace.co.za] Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2001 11:46 AM To: Zope user list (E-mail) Subject: [Zope] Search engine returning all pages? Hi all I have the following search form: <form action="IsisSearch\results" target="Main" method="get"> Search text in pages and page titles:<br> <input name="GetAllBodyText" width="10"><input type="submit" value="Go"> </form> <hr> <form action="IsisSearch\results" target="Main" method="get"> Search only page titles:<br> <input name="title" type="text" width="10"><input type="submit" value="Go"> </form> The search engine indexes title and GetAllBodyText. This gives the user a choice of searching only titles, or all the text (Including title and body). I have indexed a method called GetAllBodyText which returns both the body text and title_or_id text to the search engine to index (as one string). When I enter a word (or nothing) in either of the search boxes above, the search engine returns ALL the pages in the catalogue, rather than none. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Flat HTML Files
by Vanderdray, Jake 23 May '01

23 May '01

I'm interested in using Zope to develop an existing web site. To start with I've recreated most of the site in Zope, separating content from design as I went. I would now like to publish the site in plain HTML format (what the browser gets now when pointed at my Zope site), and serve it up as a static site from my production server. Is there a Zope based tool for doing this, or should I use something like wget? I'm open to other suggestions. Thanks, Jake.

RE: [Zope] Vote for Windowing Toolkit to use for Fat Client

Hi, I'm no Python or Zope guru, but I have had some limited experience with wxPython and XML-RPC. Another developer here wrote a Zope fat client for user file management using them, and I have to maintain and enhance it. I'd be delighted to help out with a project like this in any way I can, maybe as a tester or to do grunt work? Anyway, my vote is for wxPython, like everybody else. What about Mozilla? It's cross-platform, work with Mac, Win and Unixes... -----Message d'origine----- De : Jeff Sasmor [mailto:jeff@janix.com] Envoyé : 22 mai, 2001 12:54 À : zope(a)zope.org Objet : [Zope] Vote for Windowing Toolkit to use for Fat Client Chris, If you are going to use wxPython, check out wxDesigner. (http://www.roebling.de) It's not free and it's not Open Source, but it's only $US89 and it can act as a decent RAD tool. It can build a lot of your app's GUI framework. I have not used wxDesigner a lot yet, but I bought the BlackAdder personal use (beta) package. Largely a waste of money. It's debugger is nearly useless and BA crashes constantly. It's aspect as an extension of QT designer is interesting, and it bears watching to see if it improves when they bring out the real thing. Wing IDE is nice for debugging. Wing comes with source, it's just not Open Source. I think a combo of wxDesigner and Wing would be nice (and it's what I am planning to use myself till something better comes along.) Choosing between ZODB and relational database/filesystem storage
by Sean Kelley 23 May '01

23 May '01

Hi- general question... How do you know when to go with a relational database such as Mysql and when zope is ok for data storage? I am thinking of doing a product/zclass that will store contact information and related information (and either photos, or path to file system photo location) and want to be comfortable on choosing Zope for the full implementation. The traffic would not be huge...less than a few thousand visitors a day if i was lucky. Also, if Zope becomes a problem down the road...how easy is it's data to export to something which can be imported into something like mysql? -- Sean Kelley

Delete quotes in strings
by Frank Zorge 23 May '01

Hi, Does anyone know how to delete quotes in strings, for instance delete the quotes in: 'hello'. I tried to use string.replace but I don't get the syntax right. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('var',_.string.replace(var,''',' ')"> Or maybe there's a better way? Thanks Frank Zorge
