xml-rpc authentication with loginmanager?
by Erik Myllymaki 23 May '01

23 May '01

I have seen the additions some have suggested to use basic authentication through xml-rpc(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/59116), but so far I have bone-headed all my efforts to do the same through LoginManager with a SQL back-end. Any advice from the zope experts out there? Thanks, -- Erik Myllymaki

javascript problem
by Erik Myllymaki 23 May '01

I am using the following code to popup a new window that has a calendar in it: <A HREF="javascript:window.open('cal','calwin',width='300',height='300', location='0',menubar='0',toolbar='0',scrollbars='auto')">NewWin</a> the popup window works fine, but the problem is that the parent window refreshes to a non-existent page called '0' after the new window is opened? Here is a bit of the error page: Resource not found Sorry, the requested resource does not exist.Check the URL and try again. The page it is used on is at http://localhost:9090/frames/leads and the popup windoe source is in http://localhost:9090/frames/leads/cal Where is the '0' coming from and why does the page refresh? Thanks, -- Erik Myllymaki erik(a)pacific-shores.com

Testing if an image exists
by Michael Fox 23 May '01

23 May '01

Hello, I have a folder called 'logos' which contains several images, and a session variable called 'logo'. I need to test if my session variable 'logo' matches the ID of an image object in my 'logos' folder. eg. I have an image in my 'logos' folder called 'mylogo' and the value of my session variable is 'mylogo'. So far I've come up with this dtml, which doesn't seem to work.. <dtml-with logos> <dtml-if _['logo']> <img src="logos/<dtml-var logo>"> <dtml-else> no logo to display </dtml-if> </dtml-with> Has anyone had a similar need as above? can this be done? Regards, Michael Fox

Sock error on windows 2000
by kent sin 23 May '01

23 May '01

I encounted this error Error Message: [Errno socket error] (10061, 'winsock error') The document library, RSS summary and others. I think it is related to windows 2000 or the ms proxy server which is sitting between the internet and our office network. When using resources inside the office network, the document library is ok even with our company web pages (intranet). Is this a known python error? I am running the python 1.52 bundle with zope 2.32b2. Rgs, Kent Sin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! use different versions of same product?
by John Hunter 23 May '01

23 May '01

I would like to try and install the development version of WikiForNow in parallel with my existing ZWiki. Is it possible to use different versions of a Product at the same time? When I put ZWikiMaker.zexp in my import dir and try to import it, I get a number of errors, the last of which is: File /usr/local/Zope-2.3.0-src/./lib/python/App/ProductRegistry.py, line 131, in _manage_add_product_meta_type (Object: ApplicationDefaultPermissions) Type Exists: (see above) I take it the problem is that I already have registered ZWiki with a previous version. Is it possible to test drive new versions without disabling the previous one? John Hunter

Management of user docs (Word)
by Marcel Maré 22 May '01

22 May '01

Newbie question: I'm trying to get a grip on Zope. I'm looking for a workgroup collaboration tool (forums, document management etc.). The problem I'm facing is: most users have their information in external documents like Microsoft Word or Excel document. These are not "understood" by the Zope object database I guess. So what is the best way to handle these? TIA Marcel

Re: [Zope] Vote for Windowing Toolkit to use for Fat Client - Groove
by Jon Edwards 22 May '01

22 May '01

I've also been thinking about the possibility of a Groove-clone using Zope. Seems Jabber (www.jabber.org) might be a way to do this without trying to force Zope to do IM - i.e. Jabber handles the messaging, Zope handles the storage and replication. There's a mention of integration with Jabber in the Zope Book (Chapter 9??), but has anyone played with this any further? And does anyone know why the various python-jabber clients seem to have fallen by the wayside? :-) Cheers, Jon ------------------------------------------ On a related note (I think?), how hard would it be to build a Groove-like system with ZEO? I have never used Groove, but it sounds like a useful groupware tool for everyman. If the basis of Groove is incremental synchronisation of shared databases, then ZEO seems to offer similar functionality, especially if it encrypted the synchronisation protocol, which is what you, Chris, mentioned doing in a previous post. --- Alastair

Setting Up Zope to Run in Remote User Mode
by Jason Joy 22 May '01

22 May '01

I'm having some trouble with this issue, and was hoping my previous messages about setting passwords in Zope (Administrator) would have fixed this, but I'm not having much success. I am involved in setting up Zope and IIS on a machine that needs to have Remote User Mode enabled. In setting it up, it was made sure that 1) Anonymous access was turned on. 2) Windows NT Challenge/Response and Basic Authentication was turned off. 3) IIS's error notification facility was turned off. Then from the HOWTO at http://dev.zope.org/Members/jephte/HOWTO/IIS_and_Zope_in_REMOTE_USER_mode... I keep trying to set the password to blank by both methods of using zpasswd.py and editing the inituser file manually, but it really seems that Zope does not like that? Is there anything that I'm missing? Has anyone else out there had trouble with this?
