Stock User Folders - Who can add a user?
by Astheimer, David (GXS) 22 May '01

22 May '01

Question: Which permission is required to allow a person to add/change/delete items in the standard User Folder? Granting the manager role to a person seems to do the trick. However, I'd like to open the User Folder to "lesser admins" who do not need full manager rights, but do need to add folks and dole out roles. Thanks!! Dave

I, first, retrieve a list by: select * from inventory where inventory.past_group=<dtml-sqlvar inventory.past_group type=string> order by tattoo I also add a "checkbox" in the viewed table from the above method. This "checkbox" variable is not part of the sql table. <TD ALIGN="RIGHT"><form><input type="checkbox" name="moveflag" value="1">Move</form></TD> I would like to then update and insert into 2 tables, respectively, those records that have marked checkboxes by the the sql method: update testinventory set past_group=<dtml-sqlvar testinventory.past_group type=string >, ranch='Stockton', ent_date=timestamp (datetime 'now'), indate=<dtml-sqlvar testinventory.indate type=string > where testinventory.tattoo=<dtml-sqlvar testinventory.tattoo type=string> insert into testinventorytrack (tattoo, past_group, indate, ranch, ent_date) VALUES (, , , 'Stockton', timestamp (datetime 'now')) How can I update and insert the marked records all at once? -- ======================================== William Herring Beef Cattle Genetics S-132 Animal Science Research Center University of Missouri, Columbia 65211 voice:573.884.6860 fax:573.882.4798 ========================================

Object does not support this operation
by WrestGalen＠aol.com 22 May '01

22 May '01

Hello everyone. I have a web page with a member base. When people wish to become "New" members, they mearly fill out the join form, and click ok. This goes into a folder called member_lists/profiles/ and clones a dtml-document called blank_sheet, and then modifies the properties of this clone to match the new information inputted by the user. However, when I submit the join (this had worked previously, but once we had updated the join form, it ceased working. On our other test page as well, which is strange since we didn't update that.) it gives me a "Object blank_sheet does not support this operation" error. The join form submits its data to submit_join, which does all the work. Here is the code for submit_join. <dtml-with "PARENTS[-1].f_member_lists.profiles"> <dtml-with "manage_clone(blank_sheet,'new_' + REQUEST['character_name'],REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "manage_changeProperties( title=REQUEST['character_name'], age=REQUEST['age'], gender=REQUEST['gender'], politics=REQUEST['politics'], real_name=REQUEST['real_name'], character_name=REQUEST['character_name'], location=REQUEST['location'], race=REQUEST['race'], character_class=REQUEST['character_class'], specialization=REQUEST['specialization'], discipline_1=REQUEST['discipline_1'], discipline_2=REQUEST['discipline_2'], discipline_3=REQUEST['discipline_3'], char_description=REQUEST['char_description'], icq=REQUEST['icq'], aim=REQUEST['aim'], email=REQUEST['email'], days_active=REQUEST['days_active'], hours_on=REQUEST['hours_on'], currently_play=REQUEST['currently_play'], game_genres=REQUEST['game_genres'], used_play=REQUEST['used_play'], reasons=REQUEST['reasons'], where_hear=REQUEST['where_hear'], goals=REQUEST['goals'], contribute=REQUEST['contribute'], leadership=REQUEST['leadership'], drink=REQUEST['drink'], aliens=REQUEST['aliens'], animals=REQUEST['animals'], website=REQUEST['website'], )"> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> Thank you for filling out our application! I also have a java script running for the fourm, which checks to make sure all the fields are filled in, but that is on join_form, not submit_join, so I don't think that's it (don't see why it would be either). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

[BUG] in manage_exportObject in OFS/ObjectManager.py
by Jerome Alet 22 May '01

22 May '01

Hi, there's probably a bug in manage_exportObject: this method accepts a RESPONSE argument which default value is None, but at lines 515-517 there are the following lines: RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-type','application/data') RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition', 'inline;filename=%s.%s' % (id, suffix)) These lines are executed when the user choose to download the file from the export object form in the ZMI, so in this case RESPONSE is set correctly and there's no problem. However, when calling manage_exportObject programmatically without sending a valid RESPONSE argument these two lines raise an exception because RESPONSE is None: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'None' object has no attribute 'setHeader' To see this error occur, just create a Python Script which contain the following line: context.manage_exportObject(id='Control_Panel', download=1) Click on the 'Test' tab, that's it ! Put in the Collector, issue number is 2241. hoping this helps. bye, Jerome Alet

activeimages and opera 5.11
by dave＠kovach.com 22 May '01

22 May '01

Hi - Has anyone experimented with getting the ActiveImages product to work with the Opera web broswer? Or run into any other compatibility issues with the javascript AI uses in other browsers? There seems to be a hang-up in the actual ChangeImage function: function AI_changeImages() { if (document.images) { for (var i=0;i <AI_changeImages.arguments.length; i+=2) { document[AI_changeImages.arguments[i]].src = eval(AI_changeImages.arguments[i+1] + ".src"); } } } This seems to work (partially tested): function changeImages() { if (document.images) { for (var i=0; i<changeImages.arguments.length; i+=2) { document[changeImages.arguments[i]].src = changeImages.arguments[i+1]; } } } Thanks David Kovach dave(a)kovach.com

Zserver stability problems
by nuno 22 May '01

22 May '01

Hello, I'm running zope 2.3.0 (Red -Hat Linux) behind apache with mod_proxy (ProxyPass) and fastcgi . All requests are satisfied successfully by Zserver , however it seems that sometimes the zope listener has to be restarted , which is not good ! What I have observed in particular, was that both apache an zope are up and working fine! But suddenly, all the requests made through browser to the zope web site, become in a blank page, the browser takes a long time to load and it shows up the not found web page. What seems to me so strange is, when this happen, both listeners are up ( netstat -l ). Then I do a restart to the zope listener and all becomes fine again ! During last week this happened four times ! I have read the zope.org mailing list and saw that other persons have problems with Zope Server, but I haven't found any suitable solutions to this problem of Zserver stability. Do you guys have any hints about the reasons of this behaviour? What should it cause this unexpected problem ? Thank you all Best regards Nuno

I am waiting for the next release of HTMLDocument, which (hopefully) makes such expressions unnecessary Ones again: Thanks Andreas Wandel

ARGH !! SQLSession!
by Paul Zwarts 22 May '01

22 May '01

Help me PLEAAASE! I am using the SQLsession product to use environment settings that are invisible to the user and sensitive to the session. Every so often without fail I get a KeyError about a session parameter. It DOES EXIST! Im not sure what to do to look into it. I've used SQLSession reliably in the past and Im confused where to look for the fault. I have a feeling that the PoPy201 adapter isnt working properly (I get hangs several times a day needing a restart), but I dont see how this would affect SQLsession at work. Is it possible that a hung thread in PoPy is dissallowing SQLSession from doing its SELECT statement causing it to return an error? Paz
