problem with isCurrentDay()
by Richard Bartels 01 Mar '01

01 Mar '01

Hi all, I seem to be having a date problem today. I have a variable which is set to the bobobase_modification_time of dtml documents. I then do date.isCurrentDay() on it and it is returning true for 02/01/01 instead of 03/01/01. It is not returning true for 03/01/01. Anybody else notice this. Zope 2.2.4 on Solaris 2.8. Lists in DTML?
by Lars Heber 01 Mar '01

01 Mar '01

Hi there, once again... I'd like to use the tree tag. But I don't want it to go through all folders, but to stop when let's say a special property is set. Thus I have to write an own method with returns a list of objects which are then displayed and formatted by the tree tag. I want to know if there is a possibility to let a DTML method return such a list or is it absolutely necessary to learn Python? Is there a possibility at all to return a value from a DTML method? cashing formular field values
by Andrei Belitski 01 Mar '01

01 Mar '01

Hello! I dynamically create more form fields by calling a dtml method and then returning (refreshing the formular document which displays more fields) By doing it the previously introduced values of the fields disappear, cause I create a new form page Is there a possibility (may be a HTTP feature) to restore the values not declaring and saving each value in a separate variable? Thank you in advance Andrei

RE: [Zope] Problems copying Zclass instance
by Farrell, Troy 01 Mar '01

Paolo, You need to change the permissions for the ZClass under the tab 'Define Permissions'. Unfortunately, if you are using 2.3.0, there is a bug that prevents the form from working. You can either upgrade to 2.3.1beta1 or try to modify the python Script below. I have inserted #newline comments because my mailer (MS Outlook) likes to add random linefeeds. Troy ## Script (Python) "temp" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters= ##title= ## class_permissions=['', '', '', '', '', '', '', 'Add NetShowLogFiles', 'View', ''] #newline permission_names=['Access contents information', 'Change Database Methods', 'Change permissions', 'Delete objects', 'Manage properties', 'Take ownership', 'Undo changes', 'Use Database Methods', 'View', 'View management screens'] #newline context.Control_Panel.Products.StreamingEvent.StreamingEvent._['sqlStreamIns ertIntoNetShowRaw '].manage_setPermissionMapping(permission_names, class_permissions) #newline return "done" -----Original Message----- From: Paolo Bizzarri [mailto:p.bizzarri@icube.it] Sent: Thursday, March 01, 2001 8:08 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Problems copying Zclass instance Hi everyone, I have found a really strange problem. I have a Zclass instance that cannot be copied and/or imported. Scanning through the code, this seems to be a permission related problem (i.e., the Zclass do not have the correct permission set). However, there is little help in the documentation. Someone can help ? RE: [Zope] DTML documents as properties of python product classes
by Keith Alperin 01 Mar '01

OK, I think I see what you mean. When I go to Control Panel/Products/ , I can see a list of all of the installed products. It turns out that my syntax error was caused by my text editor. It had inserted spaces instead of tabs, so the last line of my method had improper indentation. Everything works perfectly now. Thanks so much for your help!!!!! Kern [mailto:randy@spoke.net] Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2001 4:39 PM To: Keith Alperin Subject: RE: [Zope] DTML documents as properties of python product classes Was there a syntax error listed in the control panel's product list? -Randy -----Original Message----- From: Keith Alperin [mailto:KAlperin@ignitemedia.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2001 2:32 PM To: Zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] DTML documents as properties of python product classes Thank you so much for your response. Unfortunately, this didn't seem to work. If I comment out the last line of the function (return self.vote_results(self, self.REQUEST)) and restart Zope, then the product loads successfully. I also tried the following variations: return self.vote_results(self, REQUEST) and return self.vote_results(self) neither seemed to work. Any more help that someone could provide would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again, Keith -----Original Message----- From: Randall F. If you select your product in the control panel, it will show you the details. I am a bit of a newbie here and am attempting to use a DTML document as a property of a class of a python product. To do so, I have done the following (using the TutorialPoll as my example): #...snip vote_results = Globals.HTMLFile("vote_results", globals()) def castVote(self, choice): "Votes for a choice" vote_count = self.getVotesFor(choice) self._votes[choice] = vote_count + 1 return self.vote_results #the rest of my class Upon restarting Zope, I get "(This object from the TutorialPoll product is broken!)" next to my object in the management interface. Any incite that any of you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks so much, Keith R. Alperin

I've gone through every combination Zope doesn't reread inituser once Zope started. But it rereads access. > of opening/closing/starting/stopping browser windows and zope in > combination with rerunning zpasswd.py (inituser and access) that I can > think of. Any other ideas? Are you sure your Zope really reads that access file? May be you have two of them, and Zope reads wrong file? That was it! (sigh of great relief). One in /usr/share/zope/utilities and another in /var/zope. Why would a clean install create two copies? I see (from purusing the mail lists) that I now need to go in and create a superuser or somesuch. At least I'm a bit closer. Thanks so much for your help. Splitter woes
by Oleg Broytmann 01 Mar '01

Hello! After some period of ignorance I fimally touched ZCatalog. I started experiments and it worked perfectly. So I tried to catalog a production service. It worked, but didn't do searches with russian letters, where on debugging host it searched russian texts well. I asked Russian community if someone have an idea. To my surprise few people reported that ZCatalog works on Linux with russian texts, but not on FreeBSD, Solaris or NT. Wow! My debugging host is really linux box. I started to do experiments. I have Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD - all run Zope 2.3.0 with koi8-r locale (-L ru_RU.KOI8-R). After some experiments I found it's true - catalog searches russian texts only on Linux. One of our community suggested http://www.zope.org/Members/kslee/VoodooKludgeSplitter/ reporting he used it on NT successfully. I installed VKSplitter on Linux and Solaris and reindexed catalogs. On linux nothing changed. On Solaris the catalog started to search on russian texts. Before installing VKSplitter on a production server (FreeBSD) I want to ask - any idea what is wrong with Splitter.c and why it works on Linux? The code in Splitter.c looks good - all neccessary locale code is there, and char to unsigned char conversion... [HOTFIX] Important mistake on Zope's download page
by Jerome Alet 01 Mar '01

01 Mar '01

Hi, there's an important mistake on Zope's download page, what you can read there is: "* All versions of Zope prior to and including 2.3.0 b1 should have the 2001-02-23 hotfix installed to address a potential security issue." but the hotfix info says: "This hotfix addresses and important security issue that affects Zope versions up to and including Zope 2.3.1 b1" Note the difference between the two version numbers. So if you just read the main download page, you may decide to not download this hotfix because you feel you're secure using a 2.3.1xx Zope version, which seems to be false. One of these two pages has an error, and since I've not (yet) downloaded the page myself, I can't say for sure which one is faulty. hoping this will help.
