Hello all,
We are pleased to announce the release of MetaPublisher 1.2.6.
MetaPublisher is a helpful tool to create complex forms. It permits you to
manage data without having to know how to program. Unique features include
the ability to easily extend what type of data can be manipulated through
"field types" as well as the storing of presets. Several field types and
basic presets are included in the package.
Get it MP via this URL:
http://www.beehive.de/zope/freeware/metapublisher.html
--------
Changes Include:
- 2 new methods for handling entries
- getting rid of the warning messages that came up with Zope 2.4
- a brand new preset "Messageboard" which is an easy to use Messageboard /
Discussionboard.
We have also included patches by Jens Quade which do the following:
- check for illegal field ids in Configuration: "id", "title" and "name"
(now raise an error)
- access to MP entries from outside MetaPublisher:
- variable Acuisition path length allowed in
getEntryField.py
ftypes/file/main.py:
ftypes/image/main.py:
- verify() doesn't require filename attribute
Interfaces:
NEW: Formulator Integration
- support for Formulator form, show_form method, handle_form method
Doesn't work for image/file uploads yet, at least not the version
generated by default. Especially deletion is not possible now.
- Add Form
Modification to Add Form to optionally pass new key to action called after
add. This enables an easy way to send mail or do other things upon entry
creation.
-ListForm
ListForm calls deleteEntry with it's own URL as action after deletion -
enables using other names than index_html for the add/edit/del page"

exUserFolder now support authentication over SMB and RADIUS, out of the box.
RADIUS support is thanks to Stuart Bishop, whose ZRadius product I plundered.
SMB does not require smb_pam or any other external modules to function, thanks
to pySMB from Michael Teo. This should work for NT or UNIX users (or any
platform that supports TCP/IP and Python).
These new authentication methods are early, and don't feature things such
as credential caching as yet, but, we'd like to get some testing up on them
first before we do that.
exUserFolder now support 6 methods of authentication in the basic download;
o smb
o RADIUS
o Postgresql
o ZODB
o File Based
o User Supplied (similar to GUF)
There are also three other authentication sources offered by 3rd parties.
exUserFolder currently supports attaching ad-hoc and formal attaching of
properties to Users, and allows properties to be stored via postgresql,
CMF or in the ZODB, with a generic SQL property source in the works.
Sources are easy to create. Anyone with some knowledge of python should be
able to create their own Authentication Source in under an hour.

exUserFolder is now at 0.7.0, after a lot of hair pulling over membership
support.
First stab at Membership services have been added to exUserFolder
(optionally activated).
Alan Runyan (who seems to hate being called Alan) provided a CMF Property
Source to allow exUserFolder to integrate a little more nicely with CMF.
Property sources are now optional, and so if you don't want all that
property support you can turn it off (of course membership won't work if
you do that).
exUserFolder details can be found at;

Hello everyone,
Due to the intensive work on zQuest, I was able to finish a lot of work.
Since some of the development for zQuest can be split into several small
Products, I decided to take today off and do that. So three products were born:
** MatLab DA and Method **
This product allows you to "connect" to the MatLab Kernel and then execute
mathematical expressions (in MatLab syntax). Each statement is separated by
a new line. Some of the nicer features are actually in the MatLab
Connection component. It keeps a pool (size is specified by user) of
connections to the MatLab Kernel. When a query is executed the used
connection is locked (and afterwards released) to provide a maximally
optimized response time.
Originally Zope and PyMat (The module used to connect to MatLab) did not
like each other, since Zope would regularly reload modules causing the
PyMat module to produce a segmentation fault. Thanks to Jason Orendorff's
"DestructionListener" idea I was able to catch the reload occurrences and
handle them gracefully.
URL: http://demo.iuveno-net.de/iuveno/Products/MatLabDA
** Latex Method **
Using the Latex Method one can compile math-mode Latex code into an image
that is displayed. The LatexMethod uses the Image class as base, so that
the same API applies. The Latex Method is very flexible and supports the
AMS (American Mathematical Society) Latex Extensions.
It might seem that there are many requirements associated with this
product, but I developed on a standard RedHat Linux machine and I had no
problems. All tools (Latex, Ghostview, small conversion tools) were all
there by default.
URL: http://demo.iuveno-net.de/iuveno/Products/LatexMethod
** Graph Method **
The Graph Method is similar to the Latex Method in the sense that it
creates an image from a given piece of code. In fact, the object provides a
nice graphing environment based on PIL (Python Imaging Library). On top of
PIL there are several other features. For educational purposes it is often
nice to have "moving pictures", so I added Animation support to allow
animated GIFs (using GIFSicle, which you will need to install).
Furthermore there are a couple of very useful components that can be used
to quickly generate nice results: Arrow, Vector, Grid, Axis, Coordinate
System, Data Point, Function Curve and Random Data Curve. A complete API
reference can be found in the Appendix of the zQuest Users manual, which
can be downloaded from
http://demo.iuveno-net.de/iuveno/Products/ZQuest/Documentation.
URL: http://demo.iuveno-net.de/iuveno/Products/LatexMethod
I hope that you will find one or the other product useful and will try it.
Since they all have outside dependencies, I would like to hear about your
experiences. As always, I am thankful to any comments, suggestions and
criticism.
Regards,
Stephan

Hello to all Members of Zope.org,
As some of you may know, we are hard at work building a new Zope.Org website
based entirely on the CMF. Because this is going to be a completely new
server, content on the current server has to be migrated and converted for
the new site.
Most of the content on Zope.org can be migrated quite easily. However, there
are a few content types in use on Zope.org that cannot or will not be
migrated directly or at all. These types will have to be converted to
another content type if they are to be migrated to the new site.
You only have to worry about content in your own Member Folder, and only if
you really want it migrated. Here are the problem types and what to do with
the content they represent:
- DTML Method: paste the contents into a 'STX Document' for structured text,
or 'Formatted Document' for html formatting. DTML scripting will no longer be
supperted on the new Zope.org site.
- XML Document: XML Document is usually used to act as the source for a
end-document. Render the end-document view to HTML and paste the result
into a Formatted Document
- ZTopic: Unfortunately, there is no alternative for migrating a ZTopic. If
you have created a ZTopic in your Member Folder and feel that it provides
value to Zope.org visitors let me know and I'll see if we can provide an
alternative.

Bizar Software is pleased to make available a new release of their Zope
Controller GUI for Mac OS X. This release really removes the start script,
adds file selection dialogs and fixes some race conditions in
startup/shutdown. The binary now uses the standard OS X installer.
This is also hopefully the last "development" release of the controller.
The Mac OS X Zope Controller is a Graphical User Interface for Mac OS X which
allows user-friendly control of a Zope server on the local machine. This is a
modified version of the controller we will ship with the next version of our
Bizar Shop software product. The modification involves the removal of some
Shop-specific code that simply doesn't apply to Zope. Screenshots are
available at Bizar Software's website.

Hello everyone,
I am very pleased to announce The Zope Babel Translation System 2.0.0 beta
1. It has been a while that I made a release, but I finally got around it
and made some of the annoying bug fixes.
URL: http://www.zope.org/Members/srichter/Products/ZBabel (my Zope Site)
URL: http://demo.iuveno-net.de/iuveno/Products/ZBabel (iuveno's Demo Site)
Some of the new "features" in this release include:
- Made ZBabel Zope 2.4 & Python 2.1 compatible by replacing regex
with re and fixing a bug in the tag code.
- Finally added support, so that an attribute in any tag of the kind
name='value' is interpreted as name having a string (and not an expression)
as value.
- Made the 'SQL Methods' and 'Init Tables/Views' Zope GUI 2.3+ compatible.
- Added a management screen (not available over a tab) that allows to edit
long phrases by providing textareas. You can get to this screen by
clicking on the label of the phrase. When you press "Edit", then you will
be brought back to the regular translation screen.
Please feel free to send me any comments and criticism to srichter(a)cbu.edu.
Regards,
Stephan
