hello all,
we have decided to open source mkproduct which together
with skeletons can seriously reduce your time spent
building zope products.
mkproduct is used extensively at beehive to rapidly build
prototypes. do check out our documentation availible in
both german and english.
get mkproduct at www.zope.de/software/mkproduct
this is beehive's way of saying thanks to all the nice
people in the zope community!
regards,

I'm proud to announce the release of the new v2.1.0 instantiation of the
ZOracleDA product. This provides two advantages over the previous release:
* Integration with the Zope2 transaction machienery
* Full thread safety (level 3 DA)
In addition, we've tried to resolve all outstanding issues that we could
reproduce. It includes the new release of DCOracle as well!

Hi,
In the September issue of the Hungarian Chip Magazine there is a Zope
article written by me. This is the first part of my three part series.

We've set up a mailing list strictly for the purposes of discussing
E-Commerce solutions using Zope. We like to call it ZCommerce.
Anyone who is interested in subscribing can either go to
http://lists.codeit.com/mailman/listinfo/zcommerce to subscribe, or email
zcommerce-request(a)codeit.com with 'subscribe' as the subject to be added
to the list.
To post to the list, email zcommerce(a)codeit.com.
Any questions, inquiries, suggestions, flames, hate mail, mailbombs,
etc... should be directed to support(a)codeit.com.

Redirector is an experimental folder product for redirecting
object requests. Any request to a subobject (whether it exists or
not) in the folder is redirected to a designated target URL. A
flexible mechanism for mapping specific URLs is also provided.
For example, you might have an URL such as http://oldserver/foo
(running Zope, of course) which you've moved to your brand new
server http://newserver/bar (Zope not required). Once you have
deleted or moved the foo folder or object out of the way, create
a Redirector object called foo on the new server, set its Target
property to http://newserver/bar, following which requests for
http://oldserver/foo will then be redirected to
http://newserver/bar. Given this, if a user then requests
http://oldserver/foo/fnargh, the request will simply be
redirected to http://newserver/bar/fnargh.
The Redirector object also supports mapping rules: For example,
if the old server had a subobject called "milk", which now exists
on the new server under the name of "honey", then you can create
a mapping which simply maps the old object to the new object.
Mappings support (or rather, require) regular expressions to be
used, so you could also map any object starting with the letter M
to a specific object, for example. (Support for regular
expression groups are planned.)
Added bonus feature: If you set the Redirector to "hard mapping"
mode, it will fall back to the default target URL if none of the
mappings match the requested URL. That means -- if you're like
me, converting a dull old Netscape server to a new Zope site with
lots of magic fairy dust added -- that you can create mappings
for all the old documents that should be redirected to their
Zopefied counterpart URLs, but for all the documents that are
deprecated on the new server, the redirection will be set to the
server's root folder.
Thie product is experimental only in the sense that it has not
been extensively tested. Please report bugs, problems, or
inconsistencies to me.

Hi all.
Zope 2.0.0 beta 5 is now available on both zope.org and the
zope.org beta site. This release addresses quite a few issues,
including all of the known must-fix bugs - details can be found
in the CHANGES.txt online or in the distribution.

Hello,
Digital Creations is pleased to announce the pubic availability of the
new Zope.org site. This site is currently in *beta*; it mostly works,
but it not yet complete. Eventually it will replace the current Zope.org
site.
http://www.zope.org:18200/
* What's new about this site?
The new site is focused on providing a framework for the Zope community
to develop on-line Zope resources. Using Zope itself community members
can experiment and create their own resources on Zope.org, much as
Python hackers create their own content on the Python starship site. To
participate, you can create a membership for yourself which provides you
with an area to create objects, and the ability to personalize the site.
The new Zope.org site is running Zope 2 and makes heavy use of the
Portal Toolkit, the Catalog and ZClasses.
* What's Membership all about?
Membership allows you to create an account on Zope.org. Then you can
build and manage your own Zope objects. You can upload your contributed
software, and author your own documents on-line.
If you can't install Zope locally this is a great way to try it out. If
you are a Zope guru an account allows you to share you information
efficiently with the Zope community.
Everything you create can be woven into the fabric of the site through
the magic of the catalog. For example, many pages are built from Catalog
searches of member objects.
Membership also allows you to find out about what's happened on the site
since you last visited. For example you can search for all How-To
objects that have changed since you were last at the site.
* Is the site useful if you don't want to be a Member?
Yes. The main feature of the new site for non-members is searchability
and access to member content. Wondering about DTML syntax, just type
'getitem' into the search form and find the right pages of the DTML
Guide, and any relevant user contributed How-Tos.
* Why is the site considered 'beta'?
Because Zope 2 itself is still in beta, and because we have not moved
enough content to the new site. There may even be a bug or two left ;-)
* What should I do if I find something broken, or have suggestions?
Send them to info(a)digicool.com. Please realize that this site is not yet
complete. We have lots of plans for it, and would like to hear your
ideas too.
Give the new site a whirl and have fun!
-Amos
P.S. In keeping with a great tradition, I'm going on vacation tomorrow,
so I cannot guarantee that your problems and suggestions for the site
will be acted upon immediately. Thanks for your understanding.
