Zope Corporation is pleased to announce the release of version
1.5.0beta2 of the Zope Content Management Framework (CMF). This release
is intended for testing purposes only; we do not recommend deploying it
to production servers. The final release of version 1.5.0 is expected by
October 8th.
What is the CMF?
The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of
services and content objects useful for building highly
dynamic, content-oriented portal sites. As packaged, the
CMF generates a site much like the Zope.org site. The CMF is
intended to be easily customizable, in terms of both the
types of content used and the policies and services it
provides.
Where do I get it?
Download it from "http://zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.5.0beta2",
http://zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.5.0beta2
Points of interest include:

Where do I go to learn more?
The "CMF mailing list":mailto:zope-cmf@zope.org has many
participants who are active in supporting the CMF.
...to report bugs?
The "CMF Collector":http://zope.org/Collectors/CMF
is ths place to report bugs (please search for existing
reports of your issue first!)
New Features in 1.5.0 beta2
- CMF 1.5 requires Zope 2.7.0 or later.
- CMFActionIcons product is now shipped as part of the CMF release.
- The new CMFUid product allows content objects to be labeled with
a UID. The Favorite type now exploits this feature to track the
target objects when moved.
- New portal_setup tool provides export / import of various site
configuration choices, both as tarballs and as TTW "snapshots".
- Extended UI for site managers to create / review / delete members.
- Method aliases ease localization / rationalization of action URLs.
- ZPT skins no longer depend on older DTML skin directories.
- See the "change history",

for a complete listing of new features added and bugs fixed in
this release.

I'm pleased to announce the release of ZODB 3.3c1. This corresponds to the
ZODB (and ZEO) that we intend to ship with ZopeX3-3.0.0 release candidate 1.
You can download a source tarball or Windows installer from:
http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.3
3.3c1 incorporates a slew of small fixes, and one major incompatibility:
when a transaction commit fails, all previous versions of ZODB aborted the
transaction and implicitly began a new transaction. As discussed on the
zope-dev and zodb-dev mailing lists, that can be damaging if one in a
sequence of subtransaction commits mistakenly suppresses a commit exception.
Starting with ZODB 3.3c1, after a commit fails subsequent attempts to
commit, join or register with the transaction will also fail. The failing
transaction must instead be explicitly discarded. See the news file for
details:
http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.3/NEWS.html
The intent is that 3.3c1 will be released again as ZODB 3.3 (final) shortly
before the ZopeX3-3.0.0 final release.
Note that ZODB 3.3 does not support any version of Zope 2.6 or 2.7.
Silva 1.1 beta 2 released
=========================
Infrae has just released Silva 1.1 beta 2.
Silva 1.1 includes the following new features:
* XSLT support for rendering Silva objects. This adds more flexibility
to the way Silva objects are presented, and when used also provide a
nice performance boost. XSLT support can optionally be enabled on a
per-object basis. XSLT support needs libxml2/libxslt, but Silva also
continues to work if you do not have these installed.
* A new XML export/system that can also export and import asset data
in a zip file.
* abbr and acronym support for both forms editor and Kupu.
* New parser for SilvaDocument forms-based editor, using a HTML subset
instead of the old-style method using special characters. This should
increase the performance of the parser and makes it easier to use.
Silva 1.1 beta 2 also should work with Silva News 1.0 and
SilvaExternalSources 0.9, both to be found on the Infrae website.
Beta 2 contains a revision of the new XSLT system, and various cleanups
and bugfixes. Upgrading from beta 1 requires the removal of
service_renderer_registry from service and doing a 'Refresh all' in
service_extensions.
