Dear Zope Community,
on behalf of Zope Corporation and all Zope 2 developers and contributors
I am pleased to announce the release of Zope 2.7.6 final.
Zope 2.7.6 final can be downloaded from
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.7.6
The release notes can be found at
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.7.6/CHANGES.txt
This release also includes the security hotfix from 2005-04-05. It is
highly recommended to upgrade existing installations.

I'm pleased to announce the release of ZODB 3.2.8 (final). Also irked,
since ZODB 3.2.7 final was released just yesterday. Alas, an incompatible
change in 3.2.7's ZopeUndo.Prefix implementation effectively made it
impossible to use a 3.2.7 ZEO server with a Zope running a ZODB earlier than
3.2.7, or vice versa. Luckily, the release of Zope 2.7.6 final slipped
until this coming Friday, and Zope 2.7.6 will ship with ZODB 3.2.8 (not, as
announced yesterday, with ZODB 3.2.7).
No other changes were made since yesterday's 3.2.7 release. See the NEWS
file for details:
http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2/NEWS
You can download a source tarball or Windows installer from:
http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2
Note that there are two Windows installers, one for use with the Python 2.3
line (2.3.5 is recommended), and one for use with the Python 2.4 line (2.4.1
is recommended). Python 2.4 has not yet been certified for use
with Zope, but Python 2.4.1 is supported for standalone ZODB/ZEO use.
ZODB 3.2.8 can be used with Zopes in the 2.7 line, at or after Zope 2.7.3.
Note that ZODB 3.2.8 does not support development on Zope 2.8, Zope X3 or
Zope 3 (they require the ZODB 3.4 line now).
Five 1.0 released!
==================
The Five team is happy to release Five 1.0. Five is a Zope 2 product
that allows you to integrate Zope 3 technologies into Zope 2, today.
There are no big feature additions compared to Five 0.3, but does
include significant bugfixes, along with some minor tweaks. We went
directly to 1.0 as we feel that Five is production-ready
software.
Five 1.0 works with Zope 2.7. The big news is that we also plan to
include Five 1.0 in Zope 2.8, so that you can use Zope 3 technology in
Zope 2.8 out of the box. Much work to enable this was done at the
Paris Zope 3/Five sprint organized by Nuxeo. This release therefore
also contains the changes made to integrate Five into Zope 2.8 done at
the Paris Zope 3/Five sprint, but works with Zope 2.7.
Consult the CHANGES_ for more details.
.. _CHANGES: http://codespeak.net/z3/five/CHANGES.html
Five right now allows you to use the following Zope 3 technologies in
Zope 2:
* Zope 3 interfaces
* adapters
* pages (views), including skins, layers and resources
* edit and add forms, based on schemas
* ZCML
We've tried to keep the Five experience as close to Zope 3 as
possible, so this means that what you learn while using Five should
also be applicable to Zope 3.
Five 1.0 is being used in production-grade projects, among others at
Nuxeo_ and Infrae_.
.. _Nuxeo: http://www.nuxeo.com
.. _Infrae: http://www.infrae.com
Five 1.0 can be downloaded here:
http://codespeak.net/z3/five/releases/Five-1.0.tgz
More information about Five can be found on our website, here:

We hope you'll join our mailing list and let hear from yourself!

Infrae releases a bug fix version for Silva 1.2
April 27, 2005 Infrae released Silva 1.2.1, which is a maintenance version of Silva 1.2.
The release includes:
* Silva 1.2.1 comes with Kupu 1.2.1.
* Silva 1.2.1 is Zope 2.7.5 compatible.
* A number of bugfixes. For full detail, see Silva's HISTORY.txt.

I'm pleased to announce the release of ZODB 3.2.7 (final). This corresponds
to the ZODB that will be released in Zope 2.7.6 (final) tomorrow.
You can download a source tarball or Windows installer from:
http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2
ZODB 3.2.7 fixes a critical bug in BTree conflict resolution, which could,
in rare cases, lead to silent data loss. It's strongly recommended that all
ZODB 3.2 users upgrade to 3.2.7 for this reason alone.
There are also a small number of minor bugfixes, and new code allowing for
better control of ZEO server processes on Windows.
See the news file for details:
http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2/NEWS
Note that there are two Windows installers, one for use with the Python 2.3
line (2.3.5 is recommended), and one for use with the Python 2.4 line (2.4.1
is recommended). Note that Python 2.4 has not yet been certified for use
with Zope, but Python 2.4.1 is supported for standalone ZODB/ZEO use.
ZODB 3.2.7 can be used with Zopes in the 2.7 line, at or after Zope 2.7.3.
Note that ZODB 3.2.7 does not support development on Zope 2.8, Zope X3 or
Zope 3 (they require the ZODB 3.4 line now).
Zope Corporation is pleased to announce the release of version 1.5.1 of
the Zope Content Management Framework (CMF). This release marks the
latest stable release in the CMF 1.5 series and should be suitable for
production use.
What is the CMF?
The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of
services and content objects useful for building highly
dynamic, content-oriented portal sites. As packaged, the
CMF generates a site much like the Zope.org site. The CMF is
intended to be easily customizable, in terms of both the
types of content used and the policies and services it
provides.
Where do I get it?
Download it from http://zope.org/Products/CMF/CMF-1.5.1

Dear Zope Community,
on behalf of Zope Corporation and all Zope 2 developers and contributors
I am pleased to announce the release of Zope 2.8.0 b1.
Zope 2.8.0 b1 can be downloaded from
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.8.0b1
The release notes can be found at
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.8.0b1/CHANGES.txt
For information on using Python 2.4 with Zope 2.8: see doc/INSTALL.txt
Every developer is strongly encouraged to test Zope 2.8 beta 1 *now* and not
to wait until the final Zope 2.8 release...that's why we have beta releases
:-)
The quality and stability of the final release depends on *your* testing
*now*.
This release is a major step towards Zope 2.8.0 final (scheduled for the
3rd week of May
2005) and now includes for the first time the "Five" framework to make some
Zope 3 technologies available within Zope 2. So you will be able to use Z3
technologies like interfaces, adapters, schemas and views within your Zope
2 installation and have hopefully the best from the Zope 2 and the Zope 3
world.

Dear Zope Community,
following up the release of Zope 2.7.6 beta 2 the Windows builds for
Zope are available again.
Zope 2.7.6 beta 2 now incorporates fixes for Windows support and should
make the service infrastructure to behave better.
Please, if you are relying on Zope to be available on Windows and expect
it to be good, check out those beta builds to catch any serious errors
*before* the RC1 release.
The Windows binaries are available as usual from
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.7.6b1
