Hi everyone, this is a quick reminder about the German Zope Conference in September. We're still open for talk and workshop proposals. Grok 0.13 released!

Hi everybody, The Grok team is happy to announce the release of Grok 0.13! This release is available on PyPI and a new index of specific versions of packages used by this release has been frozen at http://grok.zope.org/releaseinfo/grok-0.13.cfg. This means that new projects created with grokproject will start using this release right away. New Features ------------ * New ``grok.traversable`` directive to make individual attributes traversable without having to write a ``traverse`` method. Just give it the attribute name and the attribute becomes traversable. * ``grok.require`` now also accepts the permission class directly as an argument, instead of just the permission name. * The view ``url`` method has an optional parameter ``data``, which is a dictionary with URL parameters to generate. * New ``grok.OrderedContainer`` component. * Easier test setup infrastructure in ``z3c.testsetup``, see `tests- with-grok-testing`_ for more details. .. _`tests-with-grok-testing`: http://grok.zope.org/documentation/how-to/tests-with-grok-testing * Improvements to viewlet support. ``Viewlet`` and ViewletManager`` templates now both receives a ``view`` namespace which is the view the viewlet is in. This is a difference from how viewlets worked before. Also added ``viewlet`` and ``viewletmanager`` namespace to the template. Restructuring ------------- * The Grok dependencies now make use of the latest known-good ones from Zope 3 (KGS). * The basic component base classes (``Adapter``, ``MultiAdapter``, ``GlobalUtility``), their grokkers, as well as many of the basic directives have been factored out to a reusable ``grokcore.component`` package. * Ported directives to Martian's new directive implementation. As a result, many helper functions that were available from ``grok.util`` were removed. The functionality is mostly available from the directives themselves now. * Refactored class grokkers to make use of Martian's new declarative way for retrieving directive data from classes, and Martian's new declarative way to write grokkers. Silva 2.1 alpha, plus Firefox 3 Compatibility Releases 21 june 2008 – Infrae announces an alpha release of Silva 2.1, plus three releases for Silva versions that fix problems with the Firefox 3 web browser. There are Silva 2.0.8, 1.6.3, and 1.5.12 versions available. New features of the Silva 2.1 alpha will be announced on the silva-general mailing list: https://lists.infrae.com/mailman/listinfo/silva-general In the 2.x series the key improvements are: * Added support for ‘elaborate’ Code Sources, which are editable in a pop-up window instead of a toolbox. * When SMTP errors occur while sending notifications, we log them, but no longer abort the process. * When PDF/Word file conversion for indexing results in errors, the converted text is indexed anyway. Various other minor issues have been fixed. For details see the history file included with each version. What is Silva? Silva is a powerful CMS for organizations that manage multiple or complex websites. Content is stored in clean and futureproof XML, independent of layout and presentation. The zope.org-related servers and services maintained by Zope Corporation will be moving to a new home late Thursday night Eastern Standard Time. What services are affected? --------------------------- The most important service addresses include... - www.zope.org - svn.zope.org - cvs.zope.org - mail.zope.org and lists.zope.org How long will the outage last? ---------------------------- The servers will be moved physically to a new hosting provider. There will be an outage of about 2 hours for the physical move, as well as an outage while the new DNS information for these services propagate throughout the internet. Service may be spotty for several hours past the 2 hour physical move window. Work is slated to start at about 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (04:00 GMT, 05:00 CEST). How does this affect me? ------------------------ If you are doing development on software stored on svn.zope.org, or if you want to surf www.zope.org or use the egg repository on zope.org you will see an outage lasting at least 2 hours. Please refrain from checking in software changes during this period and wait until the service addresses resolve normally. Mail to or from the Zope mailing lists will be interrupted until the physical move has been completed and the DNS record changes have propagated to your ISP. The Zope Corporation sysadmin team will handle the move, if you have any questions please contact me directly and I will clear up any issues with them. jens
