20 january 2007 – Infrae has just released version 1.5.10 of the Silva
content management system. This is a maintenance release that includes
additions to the documentation, default layout performance improvements,
and fixes for various minor issues.
Changes in Silva and related products
A list of the most important changes follows. For complete details of
the fixed issues see HISTORY.txt in the packages.
Silva
* Added an explicit base tag to the layout template, so that it no
longer includes a trailing slash which Zope adds for all container-like
objects, which Silva Documents are. This means that linking to anchors
now works like you would expect it to. Users should add a base tag to
their own layout templates.
* Solved problem with trailing slashes in relative Links (thanks to
Benno Luthiger).
* Fix for TOCs and AutoTOCs where docs that didn’t have a title didn’t
appear because the link was empty (it was there). Now the id shows up so
visitors can at least click it.
* Default installations will have the html meta tags and accessibility
links skipped in the layout macro to have better out of the box
performance. Site managers can turn them on as needed.
* Changed css styling of the preview publisher buttons, making it easier
for users to integrate the publisher into their own layout.
SilvaMetadata
* MetadataTool.getMetadataValue did not work correctly for Ghosts and
Ghost Folders, it does now.
What is Silva?
Silva is a powerful CMS for organizations that manage complex websites.
Content is stored in clean and futureproof XML, independent of layout
and presentation. Features include versioning, workflow system, integral
visual editor (Kupu), content reuse, sophisticated access control,
multi-site management, extensive import/export facilities, fine-grained
templating, and hi-res image storage and manipulation.

PloneBootcamps provides the classic "Plone Developer Bootcamp". This 5 day,
hands-on, expert-led training has been described as "required learning"
and "incredibly helpful" by almost a thousand former students.
We offer our courses at a low cost, to ensure that they are affordable to
everyone. We also give back to local Zope/Plone user groups--together, we and
our students have given over $5,000 back to help build and sustain these
groups.
Three new bootcamps have been added to our schedule for 2007:
- BANGALORE (KARNATAKA, INDIA): March 12-16 (5 days), $200 US
- SEATTLE: April 9-13 (5 days), $450 US
- HOUSTON: April 16-20 (5 days), $450 US
All three are the classic developer bootcamp, which covers everything you need
to know to use and design Plone sites. We cover "power tricks", Archetypes,
skinning, caching, and deployment.
All three classes are led by Joel Burton
(http://plonebootcamps.com/about/joel-burton).
Details on all of these classes are at http://plonebootcamps.com/courses
