Call Profiler - profile your Zope website
ekit.com is proud to announce the first release of their profiling tool for
Zope websites.
The Call Profiler product monitors the chain of DTML, ZSQL, ZPT,
PythonMethod, PythonScript, etc. calls in a Zope request and gathers timing
information, for the purpose of identifying hot-spots for potential
optimisation.
Please read the README.txt before installing - it has important information!

Hi all,
The CMF-based new.zope.org is ready for a second and probably final round
of tirekicking by the Zope community. Please have a good poke about on:
http://new.zope.org
Zope Corp has worked on the software, and we believe that it is now ready
for the community to take over, but we do want you to go around and try
things out first, and most of all file reports about problems you find, so
we can make a last round of fixes.
Note that in this process we have completely cleared out the old
new.zope.org database, and re-migrated all content from www.zope.org again,
so you will not find anything there you previously may have created on this
site.
Also, the user database from www.zope.org has been re-exported, so all new
accounts created just for new.zope.org are gone as well. New accounts on
www.zope.org are now of course available on new.zope.org as well.
Please file any bugs and other problems with new.zope.org in the Collector:

This morning we issued a press release covering Zope 2.5:
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/020128/hsm042_1.html
The press release also mentions Python 2.2, CMF 1.2, Guido and I
speaking at LinuxWorld this week, and IPC 10.
Also note the extended quote from a Minister of France. Many thanks to
Stefane Fermigier and Godefroy Beauvallet for helping us get the quote

Hello all,
Zope 2.5 final has been released - you can download it from
Zope.org:
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.5.0/
The 2.5 release contains minor additional fixes for issues
found during the beta cycle.
Note that he session tracking product has changed since
beta 3, and this creates a database incompatibility when upgrading
from an earlier 2.5 beta release. Read the workaround if you are
upgrading from a previous 2.5 beta release:
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.5.0b4/workaround
The binary releases for Zope 2.5.0 contain the Python 2.1.2 final
release. Users of the Zope source release should note that Python
2.1.2 is now the required platform. Python 2.1.2 includes a fix for
an issue that could cause Zope to crash in certain circumstances.
Particular features of interest in Zope 2.5:
- Preview field in Image objects
- >Editable File objects under 64K for text files
- New User management API

I'm please to announce the first official release of StandaloneZODB,
the Python object persistency system also known as the Z Object
Database. ZODB is the object-oriented database underlying Zope; the
StandaloneZODB project's goal is to provide those same facilities to
non-Zope related Python applications.
Today we are releasing StandaloneZODB 1.0 release candidate 1. We
expect to release the final version on 1-Feb-2002.
StandaloneZODB is based on the same code as the ZODB in Zope, albeit
on a separate release branch. Its inspiration comes from Andrew
Kuchling's StandaloneZODB project on SourceForge. While there are
still some differences, the Standalone 1.0 release is the first on the
path toward convergence. Subsequent releases should complete the
merge of Andrew's and Zope Corporation's packages.
The StandaloneZODB release includes the following components:
- Core ZODB, including the persistence machinery
- Standard storages such as FileStorage
- Supporting modules such as ExtensionClass
- The persistent BTrees modules
- ZEO
- Experimental Berkeley storages
- Some documentation <wink>
See the README file for details on building and installing
StandaloneZODB. For details on using ZODB, see Andrew's included user
guide.
StandaloneZODB 1.0c1 is released under the ZPL 2.0. It should be
compatible with all Python versions from Python 2.1 to Python 2.2. It
may or may not work with versions earlier than Python 2.1.
Download StandaloneZODB-1.0c1.tgz from:
http://www.zope.org/Products/StandaloneZODB
and visit the StandaloneZODB Wiki page at:
http://www.zope.org/Wikis/ZODB/StandaloneZODB
See also:
http://www.zope.org/Wikis/ZODB/FrontPage
for more information about our long-range ZODB plans.
Enjoy,
-Barry
