Hello all, Zope 2.3.1 beta 1 has been released - you can download it from Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1b1/ Zope 2.3.1b1 fixes a number of issues that have come up through usage of 2.3.0, as well as some previously reported issues from the Zope bug collector. For more information on what is new in this release, see the CHANGES.txt and HISTORY.txt files for the release: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1b1/CHANGES.txt http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.3.1b1/HISTORY.txt Note that we have also posted "diff" updates as .tgz files that will let you easily upgrade an existing 2.3.x site. These updates are available for those currently using the 2.3.x source release or the 2.3.x binary releases. Zope Membership Component Site Updated

Zope Membership Component Site Updated More documentation is available, as is a 1.0 release roadmap. An update for the ZMC (Zope Membership Component) is available on http://zmc.immortalitysystems.net. It contains fixes for the delete users methods. Also available is a Zope export for 0.8.0beta1, which includes Python Scripts replacing the Python methods; this version will require Zope 2.3.x.

[Ann] DocFinder 0.1: ask Zope about its documentation

Recently, I have written several times: Look at the Zope source for documentation. Zope has quite good source documentation. However, as the Zope source is huge, this advice is not so easy to follow. Therefore, I made "DocFinder". This small product allows you to ask any object in your Zope system about its documentation: methods, roles, arguments, documentation strings. As even simple Zope objects expose hundreds of methods, I made the display a two level interactively explorable tree structure. The first level shows you the classes, the object is build from. Expanding a class will show you the class's attributes. I think, this product can help you in various ways: as a Zope programmer: * learn about the available methods and their arguments * learn about Zope's architecture and building blocks * check for security holes as a Zope maintainer * help you to bring interfaces and implementation in line * help you to straighten out some quirks in Zope's implementation * help you to improve Zope documentation * help you to detect potential security risks due to unprotected attributes More information and download at URL:http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/DocFinder.html

New product release - Haqa's Patch Kit

This product patches Zope when it installs. As a general rule I would advise against installing this on a production server until you have tested it properly. I have used this patch on Zope versions 2.2.0, 2.2.2 and 2.3.0 and it has not killed them..... yet ..... You have been warned. Text File Converter This patch adds a "Text Convert" tab to 'DTML Method', 'DTML Document', and 'File' objects (It only appears for 'File' objects if the 'content_type' starts with "text/"). Its purpose is to allow you to convert an object containing text content to a DTML Document, DTML Method or ZStyleSheet - http://www.zope.org/Members/haqa/ZStyleSheet (If it is installed). Files like StyleSheets (.css) text files (.txt) Server Parsed HTML (.shtml) and a host of other formats get created as File objects when you add them through xml-rpc, WebDAV, or FTP. Image File Converter This patch adds an "Image Convert" tab to 'File' objects (It only appears if the 'content_type' starts with "image/"). Its purpose is to allow you to convert an object containing image data to an 'Image' object so that you can take advantage of the facilities it provides (Auto adding 'WIDTH=""' and 'HEIGHT=""' to the IMG tag etc..). Web Import This patch adds a "Web Import" tab to 'Folder' objects. Its purpose is to allow you to import objects from other web sites without having to download to your local machine, and then upload to the Zope server. This, for instance, allows you to manage your Zope from a "Dumb" browser like a WebTV or similar (I don't know who would want to but...). Thanks go to Shane Hathaway for his Refresh Product which contained the patch logic I borrowed. It also more that halved my developement cycle time on this, and my ZStyleSheet products.
