Zwiki 0.22 released

Summary: Memory efficiency/performance/scalability improvements; simpler page types and DTML control; zwiki_plone and default skin updates; wikimail tweaks; STX images; bugs, fixes, features. I'm happy to announce that zope.org and plone.org are now using mainstream Zwiki. This is a big milestone. There have been a number of installation issues with the zope.org wikis but these are being addressed (thanks webmasters). Also I think Zwiki may be coming up on it's 5th birthday around now..

CMF 1.4.1 Released

Zope Corporation is pleased to announce the release of version 1.4.1 of the Zope Content Management Framework (CMF). This release consists primarily of bug fixes for version 1.4, released in April, 2003. All users of CMF version 1.4 should upgrade to version 1.4.1. Users of versions earlier than 1.4 should upgrade either to version 1.4.1 or to version 1.3.2 (released last Friday). What is the CMF? The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of services and content objects useful for building highly dynamic, content-oriented portal sites. As packaged, the CMF generates a site much like the Zope.org site. The CMF is intended to be easily customizable, in terms of both the types of content used and the policies and services it provides. CMFHotfix_20030908 Available

A hotfix product is available to correct a permissions gap in some versions of the CMF. Please see the NewsItem announcing this fix if you are still running CMF 1.3.1 and earlier, or CMF 1.4, and cannot upgrade to the latest version of your release (CMF 1.3.2 / CMF 1.4.1): http://cmf.zope.org/download/CMFHotfix_20030908/announce-CMFHotfix_20030908 Installation instructions and links to Windows and Unix archives of the hotfix are available in that news item. Zope 2.6.2 Now Available Zope 2.6.2 represents a development step in the next Zope release formed with a large number of community contributions. You may download Zope 2.6.2 from Zope.org: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.6.2/ Users of the Zope source release should note that Python 2.1.3 is now the required platform. Python 2.1.3 includes a fix to an issue that could cause crashes in Zope. Users who upgrade from source MUST RUN a make clean and make command to build the proper binaries correctly; distutils will skip compilation of the library modules needed for Zope and will cause errors if they are not up to date. DirectoryStorage 1.1.4

Announcing DirectoryStorage 1.1.4. This is the first release where the majority of changes have been driven by the user community... Is this a sign of DirectoryStorage maturity? This release fixes several bugs: 1. DirectoryStorage could deadlock ZEO under high load. Thanks to James E. Blair for reporting this and testing the fix. The deadlock occurs in code which provides guarantees relating to the timestamps of files in snapshot mode. This release fixes the deadlock by dropping support for file timestamp guarantees. Please read the changelog if you are relying on file timestamps during snapshots (for example, if you are using your own custom incremental backup solution) and raise any questions on dirstorage-users(a)lists.sourceforge.net 2. Fixed Overflow error in checkds when calculating statistics of very large storages. Thanks to Paul Winkler for reporting the problem and providing the fix. 3. Fixed incorrect import when generating an error message. Also thanks to Paul Winkler. This release has not been through my personal QA process due to a hardware failure on the workstation where I usually run those tests, therefore I am labelling this as a beta release for now. mail is working again

I believe that the mail system for python.org and zope.org is now working again. We had several problems related to our Exim installation, running out of disk space, and our spam/virus defenses. Please note that it is possible that some legitimate messages got lost. It may take a while for all the Exim and Mailman queues to get cleared out, so please do not resend your message right away. But if your post does not reach the intended mailing list or python.org recipient within a few days, you may need to resend it. Huge thanks to Jeremy Hylton, Andrew Kuchling, and Skip Montanaro for helping me get the system up and running again. -Barry
