Hi all, AJPServer 0.1 is released. Please look at http://www.zope.org/Members/andreasames/AJPServer for further information and the tarball. This is an 'alpha' quality release. Your testing is much appreciated. What is it? =========== AJP is a protocol for forwarding HTTP requests from web servers like Apache or IIS to web application servers like Tomcat or Zope. AJPServer is primarily meant to be used from within Zope's ZServer but can possibly also be used stand-alone. The protocol connects Tomcat with web servers since quite a long time and should therefore be reasonably mature. Why yet another technology to connect Zope with web servers? ============================================================ AJP has some nice features I haven't found elsewhere: 1) It's rather efficient: plain TCP transport, connection recycling, binary protocol etc. 2) It's independent of the web server: the Zope configuration and the underlying mechanism remains the same regardless of whether it is driven by Apache or IIS (there is also support for Netscape's and Lotus' web servers). 3) Some neat add-on features are also available: nice web server integration, ad hoc load balancing features etc. For further information please look at the README file and the API docs distributed with AJPServer. cheers, andreas

TextIndexNG 2.06 released

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG V 2.06. This version fixes a problem with disappearing documents that have been reindexed. It also makes the usage of external converters more safe (see release notes). There is also a new official hook for thrid-party products to expose indexable content for TextIndexNG2. Changes since 2.05 - removed MD5 cache introduced in V 2.03 because of misc reindexing problems - Converters: - TextIndexNG now checks at startup of Zope if the configured external converters are available (using the 'which' command). A converter will not be registered if this check fails - The converter API introduces a new convert2() method to provide a better control over mimetypes and encodings - Indexing: Objects can define a hook 'txng_get(attr_list)' to return a tuple '(source, mimetype, encoding)' for better control over the data to be indexed. Hi, today I've released MailBoxer 3.2 - the mailinglist- / newsletter- / mailarchive-framework for Zope. What is a MailBoxer? MailBoxer is a lightweight ZOPE-Product to run mailinglists, newsletters and mailarchives. Its main idea is to give you an extensible framework for building mailinglist-based applications with the power of ZOPE. Out of the box it provides a full featured mailinglist/newsletter/mailarchiving-framework. MailBoxer runs all mailinglists of the "German Zope User Group" (http://www.dzug.org) If you want to see zope(a)zope.org mirrorerd by MailBoxer, please visit http://www.dzug.org/mailinglisten/zope-org-zope/ Changes - added authentication-handler to smtp2zope.py; protected all public-manage-methods with 'View'-permission. Should be useful if you want a more secured MailBoxer. You can now call the smtp2zope.py with an additional authorization (http://user:password@localhost:8080/MailBoxer/manage_mailboxer) or set the authorization directly in smtp2zope.py. Thanks to Steve McMahon for ideas and patches!!! - added additional wrappers called setMailBoxerMailProperty (wraps manage_addProperty) and catalogMailBoxerMail (wraps catalob_object) for making it easier to derive own subclassed MailBoxers. I am pleased to announce the release of **PloneCollectorNG 1.1.3(PCNG)** This release is a bugfix-only release (no new features) and highly recommended for users of Plone 2.0 RC6 or higher. Changes since V 1.1.2: - Schemaeditor: StringFields using a !MultiSelection widget were indexed as !TextIndex instead as !FieldIndex - "Jump to ticket" has been broken - "Save search" has been broken - Workaround for changes in the Plone RC6+ infrastructure by introducing a translate.py script that broke all PloneCollectorNG instances Volunteers wanted: PloneCollectorNG is fully internationalized. If you want PCNG to support your language that translate the catalog file (i18n folder) to your language and submit it to me. Note: Any user should read doc/INSTALL.txt before the installation. PyCON: Pre-registration ends in one week!

In one week (Weds March 17), pre-registration for PyCON will close. Right now, you can register for $250. After that, you will need to register at the door, and the cost will be $300. Save yourself $50! PyCON is a community-oriented conference targeting developers (both those using Python and those working on the Python project). It gives you opportunities to learn about significant advances in the Python development community, to participate in a programming sprint with some of the leading minds in the Open Source community, and to meet fellow developers from around the world. The organizers work to make the conference affordable and accessible to all. DC 2004 will be held March 24-26, 2004 in Washington, D.C. at the GWU Cafritz Conference Center. The keynote speakers are Mitch Kapor, Guido van Rossum, and Bruce Eckel. There will be a four-day development sprint before the conference (March 20-23).
